As an avid voyeur of the media's marketing of the male body, I meant to write about this new Diet Coke advertisement, "Gardener," when it first strutted its stuff about a month or so back, but it completely slipped my mind, like a chilled, beading soft drink can slip from a lubed hand. Apologies. Obviously there's not enough NutraSweet in my bloodstream. For its 30th anniversary, Diet Coke, a brown, sticky, fizzy, calorie-free drink aimed at women (Coke Zero is the "male" equivalent, the girly word "diet" replaced by a manly statistic), has resurrected its most memorable campaign trope, the Diet Coke hunk, which originated in the 1990s, when Diet Coke succeeded in conne…

Tick tock goes the clock my fellow BoyToyers. Where Cyrpus and the Euro wind-up in the next day and beyond is anyones guess. Don't think it can happen here in the USofA????? ""Wealthy Russians stand to lose billions of euros in Cypriot banks under draconian terms being hammered out on Sunday night in Brussels to prevent the Mediterranean tax haven becoming the first country forced out of the single currency. Negotiations got underway amid a hardening of the stance held by the International Monetary Fund and Germany, who insisted that depositors must take the hit for bailing out the eurozone's latest crisis economy. There were signs of panic in Cyprus as a €100 (…

I'm sure everybody is well aware that a few individuals often have a number of different IDs within a board. LMTU is often quoted as a prime example. I have never understood the need for this myself. Today (on another board) I noticed a prominent member of that board not only double posting on a thread he had himself created - but actually using his two IDs to "talk" to each other and back each other up. It's far from the first time I have observed this person doing this and it's all a bit Norman Bates if you ask me. The name of the board and the member is immaterial and "exposing" them is not the purpose of my post - I just wondered if any amateur psychologis…

At the meeting yesterday a shareholder questioned the profitability of Starbucks’ marriage equality stance by bringing up a boycott being levied against the coffee company by the National Organization for Marriage (NOM), a group adamantly opposed to equal marriage rights. The shareholder referred to NOM’s boycott, and said: “In the first full quarter after this boycott was announced, our sales and our earrings—shall we say politely—were a bit disappointing.” CEO Howard Schultz replied that “not every decision is an economic decision,” and went on to suggest that if shareholders thought their return was not strong enough in the face of opposition for supporting s…

Cardinal Carlo Maria Martini, In final Interview Before Death Says Church '200 Years Out Of Date' Reuters | Posted: 09/01/2012 2:57 ROME, Sept 1 (Reuters) - The former archbishop of Milan and papal candidate Cardinal Carlo Maria Martini said the Catholic Church was "200 years out of date" in his final interview before his death, published on Saturday. Martini, once favoured by Vatican progressives to succeed Pope John Paul II and a prominent voice in the church until his death at the age of 85 on Friday, gave a scathing portrayal of a pompous and bureaucratic church failing to move with the times. "Our culture has aged, our churches are big and empty and the church…

Cool. Ian McKellen to officiate Patrick Stewart's wedding When Sir Patrick Stewart ties the knot with jazz singer Sunny Ozell, his friend and co-star Sir Ian McKellen is going to do the honors. McKellen revealed as much on the U.K.'s "Jonathan Ross Show" this weekend, after Ross brought up the fact that McKellen is returning as Magneto in "X-Men: Days of Future Past," which will also see Stewart reprise his role of Professor X. "I'm going to marry Patrick," McKellen said, before clarifying, "I am going to officiate at his wedding." He doesn't know how he's legally able to do that, he joked, but he made it sound fairly simple: "I read out the words, and Sunny and…

This may be useful, either as caution or as brand recommendation... For those of you Familiar with Pop culture, Perez Hilton, Americas most infamous celebrity Blogger recently became a "single parent baby daddy". He has detailed his decision, the process, and the aftermath on his various websites. Congrats to Perez on his new Life endeavor. However, althought the pic herewith is adorable, my Concern is that Perez has lately started to look "sickly", and wondered if I am the only one who sees this ? I am hoping its simply due to his weight loss regimen. Personally, I enjoy Perez and his work for its biting and honest approach. He usually says what most of us WANT to say but dont.

The Westboro Baptist Church is about to get a big surprise in the form of a new neighbor who plans to give the notoriously anti-gay group a taste of its own medicine. Aaron Jackson, one of the founders of Planting Peace, a multi-pronged charity that has in the past concentrated on rainforest conservation, opening orphanages and deworming programs, bought a house that sits directly across from the church's compound six months ago. On Tuesday, March 19, he and a team of volunteers are painting it to match the gay pride flag. The project -- which the nonprofit is calling the "Equality House" -- is the first in a new campaign Planting Peace plans to wage against the group…

So how is everybody on the board doing? I am currently in a ten day film festival where we create a film from scratch and submit it within 10 days. ALSO I'm working on a final video project for my Producers class and I'm having trouble finding people for the film How depressing that none of my relatives wants to help me..well there's a few but not many. I wished I lived closer to escorts than I could just pay them to be in the film for a minute or two ONE of the parts of my final video project is detailed around a man who is on death row and he is having flashbacks to what happened and went wrong with his life (it's hinted that his family was taken hostage and he wa…

Emotions have been running high at screenings of the historical drama "Emperor." The Japanese American coproduction, which opens Friday, revolves around the dilemma Gen. Douglas MacArthur faced as he tried to restore order in post-World War II Japan: Should the country's divine leader, Emperor Hirohito, stand trial and face certain death on war crimes charges? When the producers screened "Emperor" recently in Japan, producer Gary Foster said, many men were in tears as they left the theater. "It was almost a cathartic moment," he said. http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/movies/moviesnow/la-et-mn-emperor-20130307,0,1871867.story I want to see this…
