In California, they are protesting the passage of Proposition 8 and many have taken to the streets. At the LA Mormon Church cries for: Tax this church and Just one Wife were shouted. LOL Totally agree with the first one and think it should be taxed. 20 million the church spent on this campaign and they need to be fully taxed. Also, finally Madonna spoke out. My diva should have said something before but was mum on the topic. Finally in LA she voiced her opinion. A bit late dear!

The unwanted horses seemed destined for death. The wheels had been set in motion to put down about 2,000 healthy mustangs, those in a federally maintained herd of wild horses and burros that no one wanted to adopt. The Bureau of Land Management knew that euthanasia was a legal alternative, but officials were proceeding slowly, afraid of an intense public outcry. The wild horses had become too expensive to maintain, and cattlemen argued that turning them loose would be a drain on the already scarce grazing lands of the West. Then yesterday, at a public hearing in Reno, Nev., to discuss the issue, a solution arrived on a white horse, so to speak. Madeleine Pi…

I love Hillary. I fought for her to win the nomination and was one of the very disgruntled voters who was pissed she was not given VP. Now, there is talk of her taking a job in the Obama administration. What do you think she will do?

Gender bending Oct 23rd 2008 From The Economist print edition Genes that make some people gay make their brothers and sisters fecund THE evidence suggests that homosexual behavior is partly genetic. Studies of identical twins, for example, show that if one of a pair (regardless of sex) is homosexual, the other has a 50% chance of being so, too. That observation, though, raises a worrying evolutionary question: how could a trait so at odds with reproductive success survive the ruthless imperatives of natural selection? Various answers have been suggested. However, they all boil down to the idea that the relatives of those who are gay gain some adva…

Enforcement is part of an agreement with attorneys general in 40 states http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27575624/ by Pat Eaton-Robb updated 3:06 p.m. ET, Thurs., Nov. 6, 2008 HARTFORD, Conn. - Under the watchful eye of law enforcement in 40 states, Craigslist pledged Thursday to crack down on ads for prostitution on its Web sites. As part of Craigslist's agreement with attorneys general around the country, anyone who posts an "erotic services" ad will be required to provide a working phone number and pay a fee with a valid credit card. The Web site will provide that information to law enforcement if subpoenaed. Jim Buckmaster, Craigslist's chief executive, said the de…

No claim of originality here. These will be old stuff to readers of the Guardian and listeners of Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me! A woman visiting Boston for the first time is eager to sample its best-known fish dish. She jumps into a cab and asks, "Where can I get scrod?" He: "Gee, I never heard it put in the pluperfect subjective before". Dubya is writing his autobiography. He's been told of the imortance of a strong first sentence. After lots of agonizing, he's come up with: "It were a dark and stormy night".

Here we go with the double standards again. An 8 yr old boy has shot and killed his father and another male living with them and has been charged as an adult. Now how in the world can an 8 yr old have any idea of the ramifications of his actions? Yet let a 14-15-16- year old boy drop his jeans and everyone yells he doesn't know what he's doing.

Rare Treatment Is Reported to Cure AIDS Patient By DONALD G. McNEIL Jr. Doctors in Berlin are reporting that they cured a man of AIDS by giving him transplanted blood stem cells from a person naturally resistant to the virus. But while the case has novel medical implications, experts say it will be of little immediate use in treating AIDS. Top American researchers called the treatment unthinkable for the millions infected in Africa and impractical even for insured patients in top research hospitals. “It’s very nice, and it’s not even surprising,†said Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. “But it’s just…

WHEN the Netherlands legalized brothels eight years ago, the mood was upbeat. Politicians thought they were well on the way to solving one of the world’s perpetual policy dilemmas: how to stop all the bad things that are associated with the sex trade (coercion, violence, infectious diseases) while putting a proper, and realistic, limit to the role of the state. The Dutch were hoping that links between prostitution and multiple forms of crime, from money laundering to smuggling, could finally be severed. Ultimately, they believed, the buying and selling of sexual services would become a freely undertaken transaction, in which the state would only be involved as a regu…

The cute young escort lay in bed looking up as his elderly client undressed and sat on the edge of the bed. The young man watched as the old gent slipped on a condom, stuffed a wad of cotton up each nostril, and put in an earplug. "What the heck are you doing?" asked the nervous young bottom. "Well," said the old bird, sliding in the second earplug, "at my age it takes me an awful long time to come, and I don't like hearing all the yelling, and I can't stand the smell of burning rubber."

Here is an article I saw at BBC online. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/7689007.stm The researchers focused on three genes Australian researchers have identified a significant link between a gene involved in testosterone action and male-to-female transsexualism. DNA analysis from 112 male-to-female transsexual volunteers showed they were more likely to have a longer version of the androgen receptor gene. The genetic difference may cause weaker testosterone signals, the team reported in Biological Psychiatry. However, other genes are also likely to play a part, they stressed. Increasingly, biological factors are being implicated in gender…

The program that allows you to run Windows on a Mac at the same time as you run your Mac OS has just came out with a new version. I have had it for one day as I upgraded for about 40 USD today. I have been playing with it. It appears much faster and seems easier to use. So far, I have really enjoyed it. http://www.parallels.com/

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President-elect Barack Obama could reverse some of President Bush's most controversial executive orders, including restrictions on embryonic stem cell research, shortly after taking office in January. Two other executive orders from Bush -- one dealing with a so-called "gag" order on international aid organizations regarding abortion, the other with oil and gas drilling on federal lands -- also are receiving increased scrutiny. Obama's transition team is reviewing hundreds of Bush's executive orders, according to John Podesta, Obama's transition co-chair. New presidents often use executive orders to put their stamp on Washington quickly.…

Saxby Chambliss and his main opponent, the Democrat Jim Martin, both ended up with less than 50% of the vote. The runoff election will take place on Dec. 2. John McCain has been enlisted to campaign for Chambliss. I wish him as much luck in this race as he had in his own. It would be lovely to think that Georgia's voters would do right by the nation and vote Chambliss out once and for all.
