  1. I recently went to one of the 2 Healthland massage places in Pattaya. The one on Sukhumvit just a few meters on the left after turning towards Bangkok from Thepprasit. There are just 3 or 4 male masseurs working there and the one who attended me said he did both oil and Thai massage. I had a Thai massage and the cost was 600 Baht in a private room for 2 hours. I think that is their standard price and time-length on offer. It is best to book and the phone numbers are:038-412995 or 095-2069691. I doubt that they would be willing to go beyond massage but their Thai massages are in my opinion the best available. This info. applies at their Pattaya Nua branch apart from the phone numbers.
  2. In my experience government and private enterprises implement dual pricing in a racist practice. The ticket sellers never ask for an Asian to show an i.d. card. I have told some that my companion is Chinese or Cambodian and I am then told, it it does not matter, they have Thai price. "You have farang price".
  3. From about 20 years ago, played in every gogo bar that I visited www.youtube.com/watch?v=Va0vs1fhhNI "Lemon Tree by Fools Garden"
  4. Thanks for the post. it is sick, sad and funny all at the same time. Not so much now but still a sight for sore eyes is the guys on motorbikes (mostly Farang but not all) who wear German replica storm trooper (Sturmtruppen) helmets.
  5. Isn't that a transliteration rather than an organic Thai word. (I am no linguist).
  6. The Thais don't have a word in the Thai language for "Gay" nor is there a Thai word for "Free" So simple logic says that sex that is not between a man and a woman is paid for.
  7. An interesting and insightful speech ttp://www.academia.edu/8591086/Thailands_Twilight_of_the_Gods_Understanding_Thai_Politics_in_the_Interregnum
  8. Is it the 2md. smallest bar and the 4th. bar from Sun ee?
  9. Aunt and you can call a woman it I must read page 1 b4 I read page 2 next time
  10. Hi Ptya35 Welcome to Thailand which is classified by some institutions as a developing country. Bear that in mind as you look for the perfect PA. Thais like to work in an environment surrounded by people as they are sociable animals by nurture. References are not usually available unless you can contact the previous em[employer by phone. The maid is the easier to find but you will need your PA to help you to communicate with a potential maid. Go to a good hotel fine the head house keeper and offer her a fee to find one for you. You will need to offer social security insurance as well as a premium salary. You might also need to offer accommodation. For the PA there are many job agencies on the net- try these and some dedicated to Pattaya. You might try head hunting Bank staff but for the perfect English then a graduate from an overseas university might a deal-breaker qualification. You might also look to the Indian Community here as many are tri-lingual, Many people chose Thailand for its lack of rules, lack of order, lack of sophistication and for its spontaneity. I think your perfect PA is probably still in the States or wherever.
  11. Thought your post patronizing and out of order Bob, because you did not appear to take in the fact that the 0p observed 'the boy had gone from slim to a bag of bones' over a relatively short time period. It is humanity to care for people and perhaps the poster should raise his concern with the bar owner or appropriate person connected to the bar. There could be many reasons for weight loss easily researched on the internet and of certainly HIV+/AIDS is one them. Since 1984 when AIDS information has been recorded over one million people in Thailand have contracted the HIV virus and more than half of those have died. (I suspect those figures are understated.) If the op can assist in anyway from another adding to the grisly statistics then good. It might weigh on his conscience if he does nothing. I think Bob comparing what kids looked like 10 years ago or whenever is irrelevant to this topic though it might be of interest to some in another topic.
  12. I think your friend's account is probably pretty accurate. I have a lot of contact with Russians and thank their maker that they are here. They certainly have made a lot of people in Pattaya and elsewhere much better off than they would have been had Pattaya had to exist on the dwindling number of Western European visitors. They certainly outspend the Indians and Chinese. The police/immigration might think that the Russians cause the problems but then about 500,000 come to Pattaya each year. I think the Police remain the most dangerous mafia in Thailand.
  13. Thought i would put my post in context:- You can read more at:Geography of sex Published in 2000, the 128 page The Penguin Atlas of Human Sexual Behavior contains a plethora of facts and data about sex and sexuality worldwide. First Encounters Maps in the atlas provide information about the age of first sexual intercourse worldwide for several dozen countries where data was available. For men, the earliest average age of first intercourse is 16 in Brazil, Peru, Kenya, Zambia, Iceland, and Portugal but the highest average age is 19 in Italy. A male in the U.K.'s average age of first intercourse is 18. There are far fewer countries with men's data than women's in the atlas (even the U.S. is missing from the map.) Sexual Intercourse and Contraception According to the atlas, on any given day, sexual intercourse takes place 120 million times on earth. Thus, with 240 million people having sex daily and a world population of just under 6.1 billion (as of 2000), about 4% of the world's population (1 out of every 25 people) is having or had sex today. The country boasting the longest amount time during sexual intercourse is Brazil at 30 minutes. The U.S., Canada, and the U.K. follow with 28, 23, and 21 minutes respectively. The quickest sex in the world takes place in Thailand with 10 minutes and Russia at 12 minutes. Among sexually active 16-45 year olds, the most active countries are Russia, the U.S.A. and France, where people report having sex more than 130 times a year. Sex is least frequent in Hong Kong at under 50 times a year. Modern contraception is most frequently used in China, Australia, Canada, Brazil, and western Europe but least in central Africa and Afghanistan. Condom use is highest in Thailand with 82% of people claiming to always use a condom.
  14. I felt a little hard done by last night after having offed a boy we took a whole 12 minutes to have sex. On par with the many Russians I usually prefer. We had agreed in the bar before we left that he would get 100 Baht a minute for the sex act and so I had to scramble to find the extra money as I only allowed for the average. I was delighted that he proffered the condom as I find that about 8 out of 10 Thai boys use them; higher even than my Russian conquests. I was wondering if any other contributors here have had such a long sex session with a Thai guy or am I setting a record? I know I beat the average from info taken from a year 2000 survey: According to Geography of Sex - A Review of the "The Penguin Atlas of Human Sexual Behavior" by Matt Rosenberg Geaography of sex
  15. I think that his topic should be titled "that it is reported that" 'Thai Immigration says JAIL TIME' I don't think Immigration has published anything along these lines. It is just possibly the local rags (Phuket and Pattaya local newspapers) sensationalizing a bit of gossip. Thai Visa lifts a lot of its 'news' from Pattaya One and other News sources and does not seem to immediately verify the info before broadcasting.
  16. Just a coincidence that Dave and Wild West Bar are owned by the same people. Just a thought about the exchange rate: I assume that some of you guys who exchange dollars here adjust tips in line with the exchange rate. Likewise with most other occidental currencies. According to Wikipedia: From 1956 until 1973, the baht was pegged to the U.S. dollar at an exchange rate of 20.8 baht = one dollar and at 20 baht = 1 dollar until 1978. A strengthening US economy caused Thailand to re-peg its currency at 25 to the dollar from 1984 until July 2, 1997, when the country was stung by the Asian financial crisis. The baht was floated and halved in value, reaching its lowest rate of 56 to the dollar in January 1998. It has since risen to about 31 per dollar.
  17. Have a look at this Company in Chonburi. I have been dealing with them for a while now and should you want to import a product into your home country they are excellent people to deal with. Merit Foods Have a look at their products just for interest.
  18. Were you born in the 19th.century? Thanachart Bank and Ratchathani Leasing are probably the 2 main players in providing car loans. Both companies charge interest on a flat-rate calculation. To calculate an approximate APR rate you need to double the quoted interest rate and add '1'. So a quoted flat-rate interest of 6% is about 13% in APR terms. On top of that as 2lz2p pointed out you will pay VAT on the interest. Making a loan in Thailand is probably easier than in many countries and nothing to be afraid about. Thanachart's main Pattaya office is in North Pattaya Road near Healthland Massage.
  19. I thought Hey Gay's response was quite OK and he obviously saw fit to respond. Of course Gay Thailand if you don't like my posts buy me off(your money always talks)or ban me or shut the fuck up.
  20. You were so lucky to have Monty help you out HeyGay when you stayed so long and ate so well in his guest house. I have never felt that you have ever really shown much gratitude for his generosity. Never too late to thank him publicly as you have certainly attempted to vilify him a few times on various boards under various handles. My condolences to Thomas' adopted son.
  21. From my first post From my second post and for this post Phayathai Hospital
  22. Phayathai Hospital is in Sri Racha near to Robinsons Department Store The total quoted price was 336,600
  23. I have just had some major dental surgery which included 4 extractions and 8 implants all done in 2 hours under general anaesthetic. I looked at several hospitals and clinics in Bangkok and the Pattaya area. I wanted an all inclusive price quote in writing so that I knew what the cost will be and I would not get extras thrown at me on every visit. The biggest obstacle was getting a quote in writing as the dental hospital/clinics seem to be scared of committing themselves to anything. I eventually settled for Phyathai hospital in Sri Racha. I paid about ฿500 for the first consultation and a digital x-ray. The price agreed at this consultation was ฿40,000 per implant and ฿16,000 for the general anaesthetic and ฿600 administrative fee. I was topay approximately half on the implants being fitted and the remainder in 3 months when I return to have the 'teeth' inserted. Anyway total price ฿336,600. A teaching hospital in BKk was the most expensive quote at nearly ฿700,000, Bkk-Pattaya declined to give an all-in quote saying I had to pay for the operating theater by the hour. The cost would have been about ฿530,000. Clinics were ruled out as they generally don't have the setup for general anaesthetic. Clinics were about ฿450,000 to ฿500,000. The day of the operation went as follows. Appointment at 9am met by a Scottish guy working there and then handed over to a very nice looking Thai guy who spoke excellent English. he walked me through the process and after signing several forms was taken to the operating theater at 10.15. Had to remove all clothes and jewelery and was given a coat to wear. Changed in the toilet. I woke up about 2 hours later hearing the words in Thai 'seht lao' (finished). Taken to an observation room where there were 2 other patients and left to sleep it off until about 2.30 when I was taken home by BF. In the obs. room they took my blood pressure regularly and gave me pain killers. The dentist also came to see how I was. On leaving I was taken by the interpreter to the cashier and got charged the grand amount of ฿16,000 as they said I had to pay only for the operating theater on this visit. In their written quote it stated I had to pay ฿176,000 on the first visit. I could not persuade them to take more than ฿16,000. All in all Phyathai was well organized and took very good care of me. They also advised me that the basic implant was good enough for me as I would not outlive them if I practice good oral hygiene. Phyathai discounted me from their listed prices about ฿50,000. It pays to shop around in most places you can achieve a discounted price. Payless
  24. I like to read a review of a hospital, bar, restaurant etc. which recounts good or lousy service. I hope this is setting a precedent on this board and others will be able to name establishments and write their reviews in a similar vane. I am delighted you have set the precedent and the moderator is so OK with it.
