Nothing special to note during those months. As a general trend, Latin America travel is projected to grow 14% in 2023, and Colombia travel by 18% next year. That's a lot of new faces discovering the capital. Anecdotally the presence of foreigners in Medellín, particularly digital nomads, has increased significantly in 2022 and that trend shows no sign of slowing. Oh, i almost forget. With the reopening of travel post-pandemic, there is a string of big-name rock acts performing stadium shows in Bogotá in February and March. The rolos love their rock music.

Hello guys I'm visiting Bogota for the first time in February 2023. First time in Colombia and can't wait - usually I visit Rio and have met a few guys form here there. Will anyone be in town? Currently I'm staying at Hotel Vilar America which looks only a few blocks away from the gay district. Can anyone recommend another hotel / apartment / Airbnb? I'm looking for somewhere with a good location that's OK with causal day and overnight guests. Any local guides people would recommend? The first day or night a gay friendly guide would be nice to help get orientated to things. If you've experience of Bogota and happy to chat - please DM me. Mikey

There r no brazil-like garotos saunas. However, there r saunas without garotos as well as brothels. I suggest you aquaint urself with bogota and medellin businesses threads. My medellin trip report partly mentions some.

I usually carry a small amount with me from home -- 500K COP is plenty to get you through a few days while getting set up. Most of the major banks (Bancolombia, Banco de Bogota, Colpatria/Scotiabank, Davidivienda, BBVA) will work just fine with your US banking card. Do let your bank know that you are traveling in Colombia (including credit cards) as there remain many financial restrictions on Colombian transactions. I have had issues with Scotiabank transactions being rejected multiple times before I can withdraw cash so be aware. Most will offer to do the transaction in COP or USD. Always choose COP as the currency - the exchange is designed to not favor the recipient and the US dollar exchange rate is noticeably higher. Most machines limit you to a maximum withdrawal of 700K COP. Another local tip -- if you can find an ATM machine with Banco Agrario de Colombia (bright green machines) they always offer the best exchange rates and the highest limit on withdraw (up to 2MM COP).

A fire broke out at Theatrón in Bogotá last night. Over 4000 patrons were evacuated but no injuries were noted. The fire was reported early at 9:30pm before the club gets crowded. Anyone traveling to Bogotá can expect the club to be closed for a week according to the management. When I arrived in Bogota a few weeks ago, the immigration line was crazy, waited 2 1/2 hours.....was no one when I was leaving, but the officer told me that depending on the time of day, leaving can be just as bad.

Lots of good advice here, I was not careful in Medellin or Bogota in regards to Grindr men. No hotel or AirBnB registered guests. several guys I had were venezualians refugees with ID problems.... I hope Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia are not becomming security problem areas...... I want to compete for the international slut awards....

I guess it was too good to be true. In hindsight, I wish I would have booked Air Europa. They canceled the last two legs of the booking. This means I can only fly a day later. It might because they decided to fly later at night. The new flight would be the 30th BOG - FRA, but at 11:30 PM. This would mean that my connecting flight to AMS changes and there will be a layover of 4 hours. My first thought was, almost a 5-hour layover in Bogotá and 4 in Amsterdam, crazy. But then I realized that it is worse than that. The first leg of the flight has not changed. Which means that the layover in Bogotá is 29 hours. I asked them to change it, but they kept saying that the flights are overbooked. 🤔 Finally, Customer Service told me that there are no seats in my class on later flights or the next day. Mind you, this is a flight with Avianca. They have 10 flights a day, MED - BOG. It is not that I am asking for an extra day. The least they could do is fix it that I don't have this absurd layover. I have written to Lufthansa to complain, but I think I will just cancel the flight. There are still tickets available for €1500 with Air Europa, but it is not going to be optimal. If I didn't have extreme problems with the altitude in Bogotá, I might have just done the one day to check out the scene. But I've been to Bogotá once and left after three days because I couldn't stand it. I don't understand why someone would pay €2000+ for this Lufthansa flight. Their business product on the route seems very outdated. No privacy and if you have a window seat you need to step over your neighbor. Same goes for Air Europa.

Just to be clear, my Bogotá Monkeypox case prevalence estimate of approximately 1 in 100 intimacy candidates is based on official reports of current rolling case incidence, adjusted for Bogotá proportionality of national figures as well as consensus regarding proportionality of susceptible MSM within overall general populations, and a conservative estimate of on-average 10 days of individual case contagion. It does not account for possible undercount because the ratio of true incidence to diagnosed incidence is not known. Therefore, my estimate is actually conservative overall. If case undercount is a genuine phenomenon, then the point prevalence increases upward from 1/100 to the extent that the current officially reported case incidence is inaccurate. For example, 3 undiagnosed cases, for every diagnosed case that underpins surveillance figures, alters the overall Bogotá MSM setting point prevalence estimate to 1 in 25-ish. Ironically, the opinion that undercount is a feature that supports the relatively innocuous consequences of this virus, as believed by some, just inflates estimates of point prevalence. If those estimates represent ‘fear porn’ to some attempting to interpret risk, then the assertion that there is a tip:iceberg ratio is where the finger-pointing regarding alarmism more appropriately lands. What is important is knowing probability of cases and associated transmission potential in specific contexts. Thereafter every individual must assess their particular infection risk tolerance. The clinical consequences are fairly well known. I would not presume to either minimize or exaggerate those consequences. It is mystifying that a reader would obnoxiously object to epidemiological data reporting because the magnitude of prevalence appears to him to contradict his subjective view of the magnitude of morbidity impact. The trend of decline in incidence may eventually emerge in Colombia that seemingly arrived late to the party. If the disease peters out, say, because 75% of MSM infections are dispersed by 25% of those MSM and the latter achieves higher rates of recovery and/or vaccination immunity that in turn reduce ongoing transmission all that will have been a reassuring good thing that happened because a bad thing preceded it. The anticipation of absence of incidence recidivism in specific locations actually supports the idea of capitulating to a transient adjustment in travel plans. That is hardly at the level of being perpetually startled by one’s shadow.

Monkeypox scaremongering even here…oh god. I estimate the daily Bogotá MSM incidence at 1/1,000, contagion point-prevalence at about 1/100 MSM. Just stay away from sex parties and don’t stick the cock of people showing blisters and lesions on their skin, inside your ass. In Europe despite a ring vaccination rate near to zero compared to the US and zero prevention measures apart from the self awareness crap, there has been no mass extinction nor armies of disfigured fellow fags due to the MPX lesions. Also that’s why in Brazil “no one cares”. No one cares because especially after covid risks must be weighted correctly and I honestly think that apart from the few severe cases and the 14 deaths over 300k estimated cases globally (60k official), it’s perfectly understandable if people give to this virus the attention it deserves. Also FYI…Colombia testing rate is something like 7 times higher than Brazil

Well said. My deeply researched and experience-based (past in Bogotá) playbook was to have been strictly tourism outside of Bogotá. Exclusively venue-curated play, ie, St Moritz baths and Gigolo club upstairs when in Bogotá 3 nights. My decision rests on postponing due to those two congregate setting risks and leaving only airfare on the table versus a possible abstinent couple of weeks. I don’t hire from ads.

Tarnation, I have a trip planned this month with a sexual play focus within the Bogotá component, where majority Monkeypox incidence for the nation is located, but have been holding off on accommodations for the entire trip, in case this … and also minimal vaccine supply there. I estimate the daily Bogotá MSM incidence at 1/1,000, contagion point-prevalence at about 1/100 MSM.

Just back from a few nights in Bogota....Gigolo house is fun, went to St. moritz sauna the following day....couldn't pull myself to go to Teatron, was too tired and not a fan of HUGE crowds. Yes, apart from transport mode considerations, I recently booked Olaya Herrera to Bogotá return on Satena for an upcoming Medellín trip in which I wish to add a Bogotá excursion. I did not need a VPN. Fare range was COP300-600K. I booked the highest fare (Plus) of the four options as it really isn’t much by Canadian standards. It turns out that it has the highest flex for changes but all seats on the small craft as well as checked luggage privileges are created equal, not that I will have more than carryon.

Santa Marta is in my list, but probably for when I am already staying in Bogotá or Medellín for several months. I would probably visit for a week or even just a weekend. My curiosity for Cali is evolving in the same direction. I know I just said that one should not get hooked with one destination and instead try different ones in different trips. However, Rio is just too tempting. To make its charms more irresistibly, I just learned that Rhyheim Shabazz will probably be in the city by November. If the situation does not change, everything seems to tell me that I have to spend my Thanksgiving break in Rio.

I did not find that and asking the locals did not lead me to one., closest was theatron in bogota (https://www.portaltheatron.co/) (which was loud very crowded and most of it roped off for a private party when I was there) which had gogo dancers in speedos. -

Sounds like Dagoas Sauna on Clle59 but they no longer offer massage from what I have heard. They now advertise as a Sauna/Hostel if you want to hang out in Chapigay for the weekend. Poseidon Sauna on Clle 57 offers "massage" services on certain days, but need to check ahead. As you noted, only St Moritz (Clle 65) and Bagoas Club (Clle 69 -- outside the village) regularly offer massage services in Bogota. -

Bogota: There are no saunas with rentboys like in Rio or SP. But there is a sauna on the opposite/front side of Theatron club in Chapinero (I forgot it’s name, you need to look carefully when walking by to find it) with boys and massage (60 mil for the massage and presumably 50 mil for extras, but to be negotiated of course) - and there is St Moritz sauna (same building as Gigolos Erotic House in Chapinero) with the same concept. (No first hand experience but this is what I researched during my recent trip) Medellin: Sauna Club 55 gets going on Fridays-Sundays (and with a lot of eye candy, i.e young lean/fit guys) but it is traditional gay sauna (with no sex for pay/rent guys AFAIK) so if you are not young or have a fit/gym body etc you will most like not have any luck with the guys of your desire there (there will be plenty of other similarly looking guys for them to play with, so no need to engage with mature and less fit foreigners). Nevertheless, it is a nice experience and worth the time, but don’t go there with the expectation of having sex with handsome, gym fit or muscle guys. I was told at the reception that particularly Sunday afternoons are busy with a turnover of 150-200 guys going there on a Sunday; I was there a Saturday afternoon last month and it was quite busy with all kinds of guys (age, body type etc) and a lot (private) action in the many cabins on the second floor (and in the dry and wet sauna on the first floor). Entry is 23 mil. -

Chatting with a friend in Bogotá today and there was another victim last week. That puts the count at 11. Sadly this victim was known to several his close friends in Medellín. Of note -- all of the men are believed to have "met" the killer through hookup Apps -- but there are inconsistencies as to which App was used. Food for thought.
