  1. Just echoing what has been answered here: it's not worth it. To be more specific: I have flown them a few times since the pandemic started, all biz class. They have fallen so far down in quality that I can't say I will fly them again till they improve. I've flown their Bogota to Rio and Sao Paulo to Bogota and their biz class meals are cold sandwiches and not a lot of drink options. Both flights are not lie-flat (6 hour flights) and they have that weird "extra reclining seat". The seat was more hinge-ing more than reclining. Not comfortable. I'd suggest eating at Bogota airport (more or less back to great dining options) if coming from there. The shorter biz class routes I've taken, Mexico to San Jose Costa Rica and the Costa Rica to Bogota flights, were fine/not good. Traditional extra reclining seats and again not good food and drinks. I think if you can get the LAX to Bogota, or Madrid to Bogota flights, I think you'll be more or less fine. I've taken both this year and both a lie-flat normal biz class seats (tho showing their age), and the meals were decent with a fine selection of drinks. Not sure if they are administered by a different part of Avianca, but I feel they were fine, and are cheaper than most biz class products.
  2. Hi Everyone, I am headed to Colombia for the first time in April for 18 days. I will arrive/depart from Bogota and I'm debating how much time to spend in Bogota, Medellin, and Cartagena, and whether I should add smaller cities in between them. I am a black gay male in my early 30s from the US and am looking to experience culture (museums, music, historical sites and architecture), food, and meet local guys, for fun, platonically, and/or as a local guide as my Spanish is still limited. I'm looking for both professional guys and non-professional situations. I will be working remotely for part of my trip and will want to be in places where I can find co working spaces/coffee shops or anywhere with access to free and decent WiFi. Any suggestions on how I should split my time between the 3 cities or other places/cities I should visit?
  3. Just an FYI - Air Canada and other Star Alliance airlines are using Bogotá as their South American hub. My last flight to Bogotá was probably 25% full of passengers continuing on to Sao Paulo. You could look into that, the Air Canada flight from Montreal to Bogotá is daily...but the arrival time at 3:30am is a killer. Even with the late arrival, customs took 45 minutes and I arrived at my hotel at 5:00am. Something to consider if you are looking at options.
  4. Gay and Gay Friendly Bogotá Saunas Club de Baltimore | Diagonal 33 No. 15-17 | 1 340 2479 | http://www.clubdebaltimore.com/ This is a 24/7 sauna that although straight out of a 1980's design magazine, has great cruising action and plenty of room to get your gay on. If you're hungry, there's a restaurant next door. Best on the weekends after the clubs.
  5. There are several Theatron strippers on Instagram. Some describe having careers or studying something or other. A few seem to cross over into fitness training. The stripper gigs appear oriented to exclusive or supplementary income. They also appear to be kept in line by agents that dominate the provision of club entertainment assignments, in contrast to the North American dancer scene. The point being is that money may talk if sums large enough to attract attention, and contact may be possible, but my sense is that escorting on the down low is not the MO except those that are cross-pollinated with St M / GEH. You might entice with a trip to Mexico or St Andres / Providenciales etc. Instagram accounts don’t clue you in to the subset that performs at GEH. The chase all comes across as quite labour-intensive. I hooked up a few times with one guy, a gay club staff member, in Bogotá (paid). He importuned for cash donations after I returned home, so there is that dynamic to contend with as well. Another fellow I met, featured at Theatron at some point in the past but had graduated from that role, and with whom there was social interaction beyond intensely hot erotic when I was there did not request additional cash in our follow-up communication. (Off topic) he had offered to arrange a threesome with a hot dancer friend actively taking gigs at Theatron but scheduling did not work out. The compensation expectations were ridiculously low. Then the pandemic a few months later and intentions to return and strike while the iron was still warm fell by the wayside.
  6. Hey guys, I recently visited Colombia and I fell I love withe the place. The atmosphere, the latino culture and..the boys. OMG, these guys are unstoppable, horny machos...unbelievable. The number of cocks I sucked in 3 weeks (and more...) still make my eyes roll! I was lucky with my rental in Medellin: safe spot in Poblado, private entrance, no nosy landlord or security guard. My pick in Bogota was so so. It was private, I could bring boys, but there always was this cleaning lady at the reception area. Since I'm a total slut (hehe) and bring a shit load of boys over, I really like this low-key, private place whit out curious neighbors, landlords etc. I'm really curious how you pick your spot? How do you make sure it's ok te receive boys there without bothering others or, even worse, get in trouble with the landlord?
  7. I plan to visit Columbia in January, which led me to this wonderful website. However, I met a couple of Columbians in Miami and they all told me that Bogota's gay population is skewed very much towards bottom-heavy. I'm attracted to mature guys who are strict top. So anyone can recommend me a a top-heavy gaycation spot? Glaciers.
  8. Send me a direct email message here is best. The information changes quickly here as the economy comes back to life. I think I will add a single article (one-page entry) for Bogota, Medellin and Cartagena business pages listing the current gay bars and clubs in each city since that information is generally out-of-date on most travel websites (including the Colombian ones).
  9. Macdaddi, I salute you!!! After returning from two weeks in Cartagena, I opened a new thread asking for info about Bogota and Medellin. I don't know why I didn't notice your GREAT report-thread, including the link to the four clubs. Thank you VERY much for investing so much time and effort. This shouldn't be taken for granted. Again, I salute you !! Now we need something similar for Medellin. Anyone up to the task? One quick question, Macddadi: regarding the four clubs, you didn't mention anything about hygene. Is that because it's a non-issue? Thx again (-:
  10. Yes, I have 5 long dates setup with some Chaturbate guys...with one I'm traveling to Medellin and Guatape, another Bogota and surrounding spots, another to Santa Marta, then another to Cartagena and the last to San Andres...the San Andres boy is perfect, lol.
  11. We once had a great trip on Eva Airlines to Asia in Business Class using Lifemiles. Never again could I find a Business Class trip that didn't require an outrageous amount of Lifemiles. Until today. R/T to Rio from LAX on Avianca for 135000 miles each. That works for me...except for a new twist. The trip takes 27 hours and stops in San Jose CR and Bogota with long layovers. If they made it easy to do stopovers I might consider that as I would avoid the layovers. But it's always been hard to do a stopover on a free Lifemiles trip, at least in my experience. Any advice?
  12. Sorry to hear that your travel is delayed. I was in Bogotá last week and was impressed how everyone is in masks -- except once in the clubs where it is open season. Otherwise I felt very safe and enjoyed getting reacquainted with the city...had note been since before the pandemic began. Good luck with Noom -- I hear great things!!
  13. Oh, frig! My plans to go to Bogota could be blown out of the water because of this Omicron crap. Christmas dinner has been cancelled at my family's place because two of the teenagers have contracted Covid. The Canadian government is advising not to travel internationally. I'm not sure how the new mutation is affecting Colombia. Any updates. I'm triple vaxxed but who knows how virulent Omicron is. I may have to postpone until May.
  14. Hi, everyone! I have been checking out airbnbs in Bogota. I found many of them explicitly forbid you bringing new guests into the house. I can understand the rule but still find it quite a bit of nuisance. I wonder anyone here has some recommendations, be it airbnbs or hotels in Bogota. Thanks!
  15. Greetings from Bogotá. Landed late last night and will be here for the week. 1. You do not require a Covid test (PCR or otherwise) currently to land in Colombia. 2. The gaybourhood of Chapinero (Chapigay to the locals) is fully open and busy. Lots of people out this afternoon and the major clubs (Theatron, El Mozo, Coyote Crazy, et al) are functioning as normal. You will need to be masked to enter, but mask usage is lax inside the clubs. 3. You may want to review these places if you want to get into sexual exploration. I will also be adding a review of the Casa de Boys (private brothel) here later this week.
  16. Hi, I wonder how is the situation now in Bogota? Do you need PCR test to enter Colombia? Anyone's there to update the gay scene or share your gaycation sexual explorations?
  17. Gay and Gay Friendly Bogotá Bars Escandinavia Video Nudista | Avenida Caracas No. 65-15 | 1 312 9680 | This video bar has it all – viewing rooms, a dark room, two sauna areas, private cabins, a bar, and a terrace. And since it's a nude bar, there are lockers available as well. They boast being the only completely nude gay video bar in Colombia!
  18. I just got back from my first trip to Colombia and it was a fantastic experience! I booked a private apartment in the Boston area of Medellin through Airbnb. My Spanish is minimal and I planned to see a lot of museums if I couldn't get enough sex I would still have a great time. I agree with a lot of the other posters here. It may be a little more work but, there are lots of young guys who will accompany you for expenses only if you are willing to spend the time on Manhunt and Grindr. If you are interested in quick sex with hot young guys there is a lot of that available as well, for a price of course. In one day I had a companion leave in the morning, a money boy at noon and another companion for the evening. Now there are older guys who will pay their own way but, if you are looking for the young hot guys you are expected to at a minimum cover their expenses. A lot of the young guys on the apps are college students from varying degrees of middle class status. Most just wanted to come over and have fun, minus taxi fare of course. My 5 days in Medellin were a blast, when I go back I will definitely have more fun. Bogota was even more fun, from my experience. The guys there were willing to come to my place for free and were just excited to have someone to practice English with. I was with a new guy every day and these young guys were happy to please me just for the experience. I did give all of them a gift of some sort afterwards but, it was not at all expected. The apartment I booked on Airbnb again was perfect for bringing guys over. The country was amazing and the great guys just made my vacation better. The money boys are really affordable. The prices range from 35 - 100 Colombian Peso depending on what you want to do. If you gift a guy more than 100 pesos you are being much more than generous. Now that I've gotten the travel bug, can anyone provide information about Peru or Ecuador?
  19. I assume that you are doing the the direct flight to Bogota via Air Canada (apologies if incorrect) which take about 6 hours. It is nice to arrive directly at your destination, but landing in the middle of the night stinks. By the time you clear customs and have your luggage (BOG has one of the strictest baggage screening in the world) it is about 5am local time. I prefer to grab a room at a nearby airport hotel and get a few hours sleep before venturing into the city. El Dorado airport is in the west extreme of the city. Check with your hotel when they will allow you to do the check-in, as they are not as flexible as we are used to in Canada or U.S.A. Plan your travel times accordingly. Fun fact--the word in Colombian spanish for Check-in is "check-in". If you are transferring between flghts through either Panama or Mexico City (both are major hubs) then you may want to purchase a lounge pass where you can go relax between flights. Both airports are large and offer plenty of things to do while waiting for the next leg of the journey. I have flown through Panama City many times to arrive directly in Medellin and the layover was long, but the time went rather quickly. Take some entertainment to pass the time (book, music, podcasts, magazines). Merry Christmas!
  20. Thank you for the tips. How do you find the long journey to Bogota? I'm flying out of Thunder Bay. The layovers are quite long. Merry Christmas.
  21. Maybe I can help set your mind to rest. Not that I can fix the coming wave of Omicron. Colombia has discovered cases (as of December 20) of Omicron. All three were tourists in the cities of Cartagena and Santa Marta on the coast. https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/colombia-detects-three-cases-omicron-government-says-2021-12-21/ Currently there are two cruise ships off the coast of Cartagena with active Omicron cases. They are negotiating how to manage the situation (Colombia doesn't want them to disembark) https://thecitypaperbogota.com/news/cartagena-bans-crew-and-passengers-on-cruise-with-covid-cases/28955 As a fellow Ontarian (who just returned from Colombia -- I like my white Christmas) I can tell you that the biggest hurdle will be to ensure that you have adequate insurance as most Canadian providers use a clause that gives them the right to deny coverage when the Canadian government issues a travel advisory/ban. This occurred for Colombia on December 15. Happy to share details for supplemental Covid medical and cancellation/disruption coverage if you want to exchange details. https://travel.gc.ca/destinations/colombia?wbdisable=true I still intend to return to Medellín(via Bogotá) in January, I just moved my ticket up by a week to accomodate some work happening at my place in the new year. Good luck with your decision.
  22. Today’s trend, things under control compared to many other world regions, is irrelevant to the picture that could have emerged by two months from now, given how quickly new case incidence can surge anywhere and the prospect that all nations are invited to the Omicron party whether they want to be dragged into it or not. Bogotá does seem to have a fairly good surveillance site that anyone planning to travel there may want to deep-five into … unfortunately it’s much heavier on cumulative metrics that are relatively useless to visitors than it is on rolling incidence per capita but you can see on one of the graphs the absolute number of new cases by day as well as the option to have table view that shows the exact number for each day from beginning of pandemic to today’s date. https://saludata.saludcapital.gov.co/osb/index.php/datos-de-salud/enfermedades-trasmisibles/covid19/
  23. Thank kindly for your suggestions. I want to enjoy Bogota to the fullest. So as we say in Ojibwe/Chippewa, MIIGWECH!
  24. ¡Buena suerte con los estudios de español! Good luck with your Spanish language studies. Wanted to share this article on best restaurants in Latin America, as many are in Bogotá. Maybe a memorable evening out for you and your Colombian friend. https://thecitypaperbogota.com/dining/colombia-rankings-among-latin-americas-50-best-restaurants/28751 There are also two restaurants on Monserrate (mountain above Bogota city) where you can enjoy a romantic meal overlooking the city. https://restaurantesmonserrate.com/ and La Parilla Monserrate (no website) +57 1 745 4630
  25. @macdaddi, if you are going to be in Medellin or Bogotá in April, I would love to invite you for a meal, a drink, or all of the above, and pick your brain. Let me know, please.
