However, I still think it's worth a visit because of the different way of life they live. I am traveling to Cuba in the last week of May. If you happen to be in the island, let's get together, share tips, and perhaps meet. It's still a long time to go but I'll keep this thread updated with discoveries and updates from the trip. Not saying you can't find a gem.....but so many straight guys go for the easy money that foreigners pay and ultimately don't put out are the norm. I used to rate Cuba on par with Brasil for sex.....not even close anymore. I've never seen the golden age of Cuba but I'm happy with what I got there. I'm fluent in Spanish but I don't speak Portuguese. That might influence my decision. Staying in Cuba likely mainly Havana, what are the best options for not only enjoyng the stay as a regular tourist but also having some fun with a gay local or two. Is it difficult to bring a Cuban back to the hotel or is it necessary to have another option (Casa Particular?). Thanks for the advice.... Get yourself an additional casa particular or arrange a room at a casa where the host doesn’t mind guests having Cuban “visitors” (check with the host in advance). You can also just wait until you get to Cuba and ask around — there are plenty of Cubans that are renting apartments and rooms as a side hustle, and many don’t mind if the foreigners have Cuban guests (with restrictions, usually they must present their ID and the name must be written in a book, by Cuban law). Cuban locals are restricted from visiting hotels. Also, if you’re American, be extra careful about going to Cuba as a “tourist”. If the same guy checks into a hotel with me, then you, then someone else, etc.... they will know what's going on and he'll be called in and accused of being a prostitute. If it was a regular, like checked into several hotels or several times with the same person and no one else, it would be seen as 2 lovers not bothering anyone, more or less. The books for the casa's are also monitored, somewhat. The owners of the apartments know this and even though they seem to writing the guys info down (unless they have them sign "the book")...it's writing it down somewhere to cover their ass and in case anything happens, they rob or kill you (has happened). The guys used to be petrified of encounters with the police....not so much anymore because now most of the police will take payoffs and the hustlers usually have the means to make the payoff or access to someone that will loan them the money. I will also add that some casa owners are more particular about Cuban guests signing in than others. It is probably best for your own safety and protection to get the ID and sign in — this way, the Cuban hustler or guest is less likely to do anything like rob or maim you, knowing that la policia could cause them grief. The boys don’t even like walking with foreigners on the street, as this could create suspicion and harassment from la policia. In any event, my experiences have been that casa hosts and police are much more on the lookout for female prostitutes, trans prostitutes and underage sex trafficking than male-male visitors. Check it out! Last March (2017) I stayed in a wonderful casa, but I also had rented an apartment for play. Unfortunately, because I encountered a medical issue-- I aborted the latter and returned home. ...did not contact the apartment owners (of which I felt rather bad), but to compensate for my unannounced cancellation, they got their money and an email from me when I was back in the States for a few days. If I were to do this again, I would have seen a physician while in Habana. Unfortunately, at the time, the professional guide who I was to meet on a Monday preceding my tour, did not advise me to consult with a Cuban physician. It cost me, for I was to have seen one within 72 hours for health concerns. ...had not read my insurance policy of some 48 pages closely. You have access to hospitals designed for foreigners, and any minor/mid issue should be handled. Please don't expect Mayo Clinic or something like that and, unless you are in an emergency... patience. Dutch - I also plan to be by end of May. Be advised that temperatures could be pretty high! Lets keep in touch so you we can share advises. If you like lean, young, dark-skin guys, you will have a lot of chances at Malecon and Las Vegas cabaret. If you are looking for white guys, muscular, you have less chances. The latter are in high demand! If you speak some Spanish, and/or you have a good local friend that can escort you, you will have better chances to pick guys and avoid troubles. This is required by Cuban law. You simply have to retain the boarding pass as proof of your medical insurance. I just was NOT in the right mind to proceed and get medical attention for my excruciatingly back pain which I think happened from my sitting in that extremely hard-assed seat on the Hop on-Hop Off bus. I must have been on it for five hours; I never got off until it went to the stop the second time. ...would have braved it, but the tour was to have begun on a Monday carrying me long distances over 6 or more hours. ...did NOT think my back could handle this, for I did NOT know of the transport the tour company would be using! I learned my lessons and thank you fellows for chiming in on this aspect. ...did NOT WANT TO HIjack this thread in my writing about insurance but thought I'd clarify! They claim that they do NOT participate in getting guys or making arrangements, but I have been told differently. I have two hotties on my FB page who are reputable tour guides. One is a superb photographer and is quite hot in his own right. ...don't know if he intercedes either. Luis has a great website and posts great info., tourist related, on his FB page and shares with folks. I had made arrangements for him to take me on his gay tour on a Saturday night, but since I returned on the same day back to the States-- I did NOT use his expertise and services. Thanks for the advice.... there are many sex motels around (actually just homes of local people). The guys all know at least a place to go. So don't worry.
