Like anonone I will be in butterfly mode during the start of my June trip and a hotel in BT is ideal if you anticipate having a number of boys short time or overnight. However I always remember a bit of advice I was given when I first came to Pats some 14 years ago which was "don't make plans in Pattaya". Thinks change and I could easily find a boy I want to stay with me for a few days. In this case I would move to the Samsuck Guesthouse which is fairly quiet after the sauna closes. There are a variety of rooms and it is not expensive and only a short distance to Jomtien and Dongtan Beach. The restaurant is not bad although the farang breakfast is "basic" whereas my boyfriends said the Thai food was good. Bit of a hill up to the main road (amazing how unfit young Thais are - they complain about this)

I've just checked Tripadviser and yes there are several negative reports, but apart from the noise problem I don't recognise the other complaints. Also it's a faily inexpensive hotel with current low season prices starting around 1000 baht. I prefer to stay at hotels known to be gay and I would say that the Ambience has 90% gay guests taking boys to the rooms. It's rather a maze on the upper floors, being a collection of former joined shop houses with several stairs and one lift. One evening I contacted a boy via GR and he agreed to come. The guy at reception telephoned to say he was there and said he would send the boy up. I got naked and waited for a knock on the door but after 5. Minutes He hadn't arrived. I had to get dressed, leave the room and found him wandering about on a different floor lost. After that I always went down to escort my boyfriends.

I've never seen the gym - don't know it existed. Only been to Lumpini a couple of times in the early morning as I'm usually occupied elsewhere - exercising in bed.

When I'm in bkk I often go to Lumpini Park in the early evening for a run. It's very busy there at this time with runners, being one of the few places for them in the city. As far as I know there are no showers - I just walk/jog back to my hotel afterwards dripping sweat. I normally stay at the Tantawan. Maybe you could cool off in the lake !. Only joking. Everyone, including farangs, has to stop for the national anthem,- that's interesting. You can sometimes get into conversation jogging along with the type of Thais we not normally meet, like bank managers or train drivers, which has happened to me. It's cooler of course in the early morning or evening but you could go at any time during the day. There are a few stalls selling drinks.

Biguyboy... You visited the gay beach. I'm due in Pattaya in June and I love spending time there. You know my interest in cute boys in speedos. Any sightings of the same ?. Did you take a boy to the beach ?. Your description of the weather is rather intimidating.

I cannot open imagine offing a guy like the one displayed above and having him in my bed - the attraction for me is zero as it is for females. I respect body builders for the huge effort they make to train their bodies to that unnatural shape but they also have to take drugs to achieve the development of this one. Thanks Steve for those helpful suggestions. They are certainly attractive, especially the rimming one, but alas none of them would counteract the distraction of some drunk farang belting out "I did it my way" at 3 am. To be fair to the Ambiance they do try to minimise the nuisance by allocating the less affected rooms to guests when they are not full. Thinking back I have stayed there Maybe nine times for an average of a week and the noise nuisance was probably a only small proportion of those nights.

I'm a regular at the Ambiance and will stay there during my June trip. The only downside is shared BT the other BT hotels is noise long after the official bar closing time. Not good when trying to concentrate on my boyfriend du soir.

Ive been told it's much more difficult to open a Thai bank account now and that this is really an option for ex pats only. But then again I've never tried. Probably the cost of money changing is a tiny part of my budget behind boys, hotels, food, drink and travel.

I wonder if there is a temptation to take risks as one grows older ?. I have to say that I didn't always practice safe sex when I was younger in Britain and on holiday in gay-favoured resorts in Europe and I have "got away with it". My experience is that there is not much difference in the ATM rate of exchange between the various banks, although at the airport I think it is generally a little poorer. These rates are better than the ones you get for exchanging cash. The same applies to the Thai bank fixed fee which is the same at 150 or 180 baht (I can't remember). Then you will get another charge from your home bank. Thus it is better not to withdraw small amounts (say 5000 baht) from ATMS, that amount would be better obtained by changing cash. I withdraw 20,000 baht at a time from ATM's within banks, as those standing in the street are sometimes faulty and it's a lot of hassle if no notes are dispensed and you are charged. This has happened to me twice. Long time visitors get a much better rate by opening a Thai bank account and transferring money there in bulk. When I first visited Thailand some 12 years ago I used travellers cheques but not now.

Nothing in life is risk free. Crossing Second Road Pattaya in rush hour is rather dodgy. The difficulty is assessing the level of risk. For example I think if the risk of unprotected anal penetration was one in ten thousand many including myself would accept that, but maybe not one in a thousand. When I first discovered Thailand thirteen years ago bareback was prevalent but not now, and I believe the statistics show a reduction in HIV/AIDS in recent years. Nobody can give you the figures and there are no bookies to give you the odds. For oral it's impossible partly due to participants usually doing anal also, with condom or without. For myself it's bareback for sucking cock, but condoms for anal penetration. Tongue Kissing is no risk but not sure about rimming. Half gay porn shows unprotected anal which may tempt some to engage.

Abang1961 Your post is rather worrying. I've been washing my mouth out with mouthwash for years. I think I need a second opinion On this !. I carry a small bottle of listerine in my pocket when I'm away from my room. I suppose the risk is greater if you suck to completion and you get a spurt of cum in the mouth.

You can certainly wear speedos on the beachs at Pattaya including the gay section at Dongtan. I have several which border on being indecent and I like my boyfriends to wear them, although that often involves a purchase.

Reading threads like this one always brings memories for me of relevant experiences, and for this one I remember having a boy with me for Three days whilst staying at the Ambiance. We had breakfast at about 11 and I decided to take him to the Dongtan beach. If you know me you will know I love lying on a sunny beach especially when accompanied by a nice hot boy. Whilst in Pattaya I often visit the Samsuk. Yes you can tan naked although it's not officially approved. Some afternoons you see several customers naked but sometimes nobody dares. A proportion of rent boys in Pattaya are reluctant to walk to walk at all and instead take motor bikes even for the shortest journeys. During my last trip I hired a boy from GR in the early afternoon and after sex decided to go to Soi Buakhow market and asked him to accompany me, as I had thoughts of asking him to sleep with me overnight. From BT to the market is no distance but he insisted we go by motor bike taxi stating that it was a long way and too hot. Good advice Z909 Taking the Ambiance reviews on Tripadviser the average score over the years is quite high but some recent ones are unfavourable, (that is not my experience) I think these contributors may have been misled by the Ambiance's own website, which very much exaggerates the standard of the place, particularly the video, which shows lady guests in a room, dining and on the terrace. They are not a common sight in BT hotels!. It would be better if they focused on its attractions for gays which are described in this thread. It's good accommodation for their prices but 5* luxury it ain't. Perhaps the negative contributors are trying to get some revenge for being misled.

Bicincin That's a really horny report of your visits to the Samsuck and you obviously enjoyed it to the full !. You mention the forth floor - I never knew that existed and I've been the Samsuck a lot of times. It sounds like I've been missing something. I've used the sling on the second floor once a couple of years ago it's located in a rather quiet part, so doesn't ge a lot of use.
