They have smoking rooms...I don't smoke, never had.... never noticed a smoke smell in my rooms, but with the clients they get, I could see them smoking in a non-smoking room.

Cold AC, wifi, quiet, clean linens and towels, comfortable beds/pillows, location, nice staff and price ($50usd or less) Yeah, if security or front desk are sleeping or fucking off, you can take them in without ID, which if it's a known person or bar guy I don't sweat it...but any unknowns, I look for the Reception person to take the ID.

Not to bore you with stories or to scare you... One guy I know had befriended someone in Peru, 3 years later, he said let's go visit a friend's house. The guy sold him to people that drained his bank accounts, beat and raped him, broken ribs and smashed up face... he somehow managed to escape. Law enforcement, not the best or most helpful a lot of times.......especialy in third world countries. Go in Eyes wide open...you just met him, my 2 pesos worth.

Yes, definitely ask for a high floor.... I only saw a 2nd floor back room once, never stayed in one. Front of the hotel rooms run about 8-10us more, not worth it, they're just a hair bigger.... when they remodeled a while ago, the front rooms were much better than the back... now not so much since they did the back...not recently though. Nice staff, great location... and I like ID checks, keeps everyone in line... especially if you get a freelancer, someone free from the apps or DJ station guy.
