That made me laugh. When I was living in Italy and I decided that it was time for me to seriously learn Italian - I got to know the Italian teacher and I asked her, which foreigners are the most difficult to teach Italian to. She replied: Americans because they don't remember their grammar structure rules, Japanese because there is no connection for them to any of the latin language sets. As an American - her analysis was totally correct. I did not remember the grammar structure rule set for English - it was all remembered by rote brute force. So, the only way that I could successfully learn Italian was to re-learn the English conjugation rule set for "simple tenses", "compound tenses", and "phrases bound by time anchors". I remember buying the Italian verb conjugation book: Where each verb is conjugated into its individual tenses. As my brain tends to work in a matrix format - I just had to learn these Italian verbs and remember in which row and column was the correct verb tense that I needed. I also revisited this verb tense usage in the same matrix format for English and then that was the key to my success when I needed to conjugate a verb. My brain would remember in which row/column the verb tense that I would need to use and just pick it up from what I remembered in the 501 verb conjugation tense list. After many years of living in Italy - I eventually overcame this conjugation handicap where I could conjugate the verbs automatically - because what you discover when you live in a new host country is that all of the conjugations are rarely used and a popular much smaller subset is used in everyday language.

I tend to prefer AirBnBs for long stays - like when I stayed in Da Nang for 4.5 months and also for my 2 months in Cebu. Why? It allows me to obtain that feeling of "living like a local". Also, when I use the amenities of the AirBnBs that are in larger condo complexes - I can meet the actual people who live in such places and then I can ask them all of my gazillion questions about what life is like there. This is how I found my current condo 4 years ago that I currently rent in Jomtien. I got to know the locals, the security team, the juristic office personnel, neighbors, groundskeepers, etc - and together they gave that family feeling - and that is exactly what I was looking for. When I stay in a hotel - I don't obtain any of these feelings / sensations. When I go into Bangkok - I tend to stay in hotels - because I am generally in BKK to enjoy the Silom gay ghetto area and I don't require to know what it would be like to live in BKK, as I am not a big city guy and I much prefer beach towns.

Yes, I also worry, as that is Phratamnak soi 6, which is a type of residential street - with Phratamnak soi 5 being the primary commercial busy street for the Phratamnak neighborhood of Pattaya. The good news is it is very easy to find parking near Guido's new restaurant. Also, it is only like a 5 to 7 minute walk down to the Phratamnak beach promenade which connects to the gay volleyball area and Dongtan Beach, which offers a very pleasant seaview walk back to the Jomtien Complex, aka Supertown.

Well for now they were able to get rid of the recent tar balls that washed up onto the local beaches. However, I am not aware if they were able to identify the ship(s) that allegedly "illegally flushed their tanks" thus causing that temporary dirty situation. So, things have returned to "normal" and you can now walk on the beach.

Good question. After living here for 4 years what I have noticed is the large influx into Jomtien/Pattaya of Bangkokians whenever there is a long weekend. This phenomena is similar to when I lived in New York and when there was a long weekend the New-York- Citiers would inundate Long Island (mainly in the Hamptons). So, my feeling is that just like the New-York-Citiers viewed the Hamptons as their playground I would say that the same is true for Bangkokians. There is the attraction of fresh sea air (instead of hot smog) with the recent added attraction of tar-ball dumplings - which I don't think can be had in Bangkok. So, maybe Guido is targeting the frequent Bangkokian visitors - hence the name G's Bangkok? 🤔

yes I agree. Many of the people here at the local Jomtien beaches are thinking that it originated from Pattaya city. I disagree, because the way these oil deposits, tar balls found their way was that they FIRST hit the Western shore of Koh Larn on Tien Beach and nearby Samae Beach and then AFTERWARDS the tar balls started showing up on the Jomtien beaches. And the HUGE industrial ships are the ones that pass to the West of Koh Larn in the main waterway channels of the Gulf of Thailand. Consequently, I would venture to say that the "illegal case of flushing the tanks" occured in this area - as indicated in the below impromptu map: Would you agree?
