I don't think anything will change until the midterms. Democrats will at least take back the House, more than likely. 2008 was around when I was being the best little volunteer ever for marriage equality. I will never forget getting political junk mail for Obama, who of course won. But also against the same sex marriage initiative in California, which of course narrowly lost, quoting Obama as being against same sex marriage. In fairness, he did not send out the mailers. But they quoted Obama in them, to undercut the same sex marriage side. And it worked. Many Gays and liberals view that as a judicial win. And it was, in that SCOTUS ultimately delivered a verdict. But even they were clear in interviews that they read the polls and saw where the public was headed. So I will always think of this as a massive grassroots victory of nobodys who poured their hearts out, and changed history. That is why we won, I think. The political leaders followed. Everyone should hate him, as far as I am concerned. And, yeah, being a weak Putin ass kissing traitor is one of the reasons I hate him most. The insolent pig Trump is worthless. He is building a coalition against America, and handing power to Putin and Xi. What is hard for me is that all my siblings, even the two Republicans, despise Trump and what he is doing. But two of their kids, one niece and one nephew and both of whom I love, buy this "America first, you second" shit. They are both affluent. So I can put it in a context of "We really don't want to be bothered with that shit. Let us just be rich, and fuck the rest of the world." And they are surprisingly ignorant in their political views. Like if you don't know Kevin McCarthy was the House Speaker, and you say you are a knowledgeable Republican, that doesn't wash. Anyway, I love my niece and nephew. But their grandfather, my Dad, a Reaganite WWII veteran, would be rolling in his grave. He lived long enough to despise Trump himself.
