Whats happening with Boyz boyz boyz?

Featured Replies

A few nights ago I was in BBB Pattaya .It was literally full up . Seems like full of Chinese who were taking up every seat and many seemed to be not drinking anything.

Is this place now for only what appears to be Chinese tour groups or what?

Toyboys itself is also currently full of Chinese customers, male and female; something they have deliberately encouraged over the last few years. Its signage is part Chinese/part English, and, importantly, they have at least one Chinese speaking junior mamasans to welcome them inside and keep an eye on them inside in terms of drinks and choosing boy companions off the stage, etc. The consequence is that they are usually busy and bustling most nights, whereas elsewhere in BoyzTown the boys are reporting a dearth of customers.

My boyfriend is based at Pikky Bar and frequently video calls me from his 'welcome' table out in the soi and showing me scenes of an empty soi. BoyzBoyzBoyz opposite him is busy he reports, 'but all Chinese', he says.  His bar and others around him seem all but empty. My spy in Classic Boy Bar says they are also hurting inside through lack of customers.

Toyboys seems to have achieved critical mass at the moment. A steady flow of customers encourages a stage-full of near naked boys who get drinks and offs, which in turn encourages the customers to come in, etc. etc. My little spies in the bar say that there is also a steady flow of 'new' boys to bolster and refresh the numbers on stage each night.

And, ironically, drink prices at Toyboys and BoyzBoyzBoyz are eye-wateringly high compared to their neighbours.

Good on them

It's "dog eat dog" in the business world.

They can't rely on old farangs for survival,so obviously they re paying Chinese tour groups commission to bring in the customers.

I'm so lost how Winners boys and Nice boys survive

It's better to have at least some bars busy, and good to hear of 'new' boys!

Maybe NB survives due to its more promiscuous nature....

I think you’re right. After so many before, it’s the only bar left that you can have “fun” inside. So they really have no competition.

Thx for all the interesting replies. So it seems to me that BBB and Toy Boys aiming specifically at the Chinese market and I suppose with tour groups etc that is the way to go.

I also  noticed particularly in BBB the customers seemed like mainly straight and straight-laced Chinese...(how boring!)

Boyz, Boyz, Boyz and Toy Boys are as different as day and night!  In BBB the dancers just stand on the stage, in their jeans, from about  9pm until show time while at Toy Boys the dancers are wearing  the briefest of briefs and  move about on the stage and flirt with the customers.  Drinks are 350 in BBB and 250 in Toy Boy. BBB relies on their Chinese customers while Toy Boy attracts both Farang and Chinese. What is weird is there may be 2 to 6+ Chinese customers walk into ToyBoy, look around, and then walk out for no reason at all. The ones who walk in BBB do so about 10 pm and stay for the show.

Not sure I understand what you mean by "2 to 6+". Could you speak in terms of %, like what % of Chinese or Chinese-looking customers who walk through the door decide to turn around and leave? And are these more male or female?

This is one of the BIG mysteries here in Pattaya.

Back in the heyday - the 2 BIG entertainment centers were Sunee Plaza and Boyztown.

Sunee fell from grace with the never ending police raids and now exists with just 3 or 4 bars

Boyztown was perhaps the PRIME area for the gay life in Pattaya - back in the day.

Now Boyztown (well at least the 2 main anchors = BoyzBoyzBoyz and Boyz Music) are primarily catering to the Chinese bus tour crowd and us non-Chinese bus tour people are overlooked.

So, it would appear that there is a historical shift taking place from:

Sunee Plaza --> to Boyztown --> now to Jomtien Supertown Complex

This was evident at yesterday's 8 June 2024 Pattaya Community Pride event - there was ZERO / nada presence of anything from Boyztown.  Instead this event was participated and sponsored by SWING, Supertown, and the Pattaya Mayor's office.

To me this is sad that Boyztown chooses to not participate in yesterday's Pride event.

There will be a second Pattaya Pride event on 22 June 2024 - so, we will see if Boyztown will step up to the plate for that event - but it is sponsored by Pattana - the owner of  the Central Festival shopping mall.

Don't take this the wrong way

But are you a data analyst in real life ,I love all your statistical analysis of things 👍

I would estimate that 50% of the Chinese customers, more female than male turn and leave immediately after entering ToyBoy. Could be 2,4, 6 customers who enter as a group at one time. It varies from day to day so no precise figures. Perhaps they are intimidated by the scantily clad males or maybe they are looking for something more akin to BBB or who knows? Normally I am there about 9 pm to 10 pm, after that I am not sure of the dynamics other than many Chinese do go to BBB.

The event was organised by SWING with participation of Jomtien Complex, and the businesses within, plus a few external ones. Besides a broken sign on the top of the street, which I am told is being taken down, there was no "SuperTown" sponsorship or involvement with Pride. Another failed Thai project, thank fuck. Sounds like a theme park for special needs kids. There was even a part of the parade with a ladyboy massage shop. Although I am not sure where in Jomtien/Pattaya they were located. They were on foot behind the truck I was on.

While you are correct, I didn't see any BoyzTown business involved, I saw many boys from that area both in the parade and enjoying the festivities. If all the boys and staff are there enjoying it, I don't really care about the participation of the Chinese serving establishments.

It was a great day, and a really good boost for Jomtien Complex bar owners.

Not quite correct;  many of the staff from Panorama and Castro did participate in the parade on 8 June.

I stand corrected and more importantly - I am happy to hear this.

Too bad the 2 biggest anchors of Boyztown, BoyzBoyzBoyz and Boyz Music were not there ?

There is still some hope as we have the 2nd Pattaya PRIDE event, "Pride for All" on Saturday 22 June 2024 🤞

Don't take this the wrong way but I'm sick of these big headed Jomtien complex bar owners with their high horse heads gallivanting around trying to make the area like the West.

The only thing they succeeded at was helping the Landlords raise the rent for the area.

None of them have the appropriate licenses to be in business, they have no "goodwill" to sell in the future

I stopped going there after a few visits anyway

The only reason gay tourists go there is because it's virtually the only gay place

I believe most of them now with exorbitant rents ( brought on by themselves) are not making any profit !!!

The ones who don't have other income ( from foreign pensions etc) are closing down.

I don't disagree with you at all. I only frequent one bar there, who probably is the only one making a profit. His rent is low, as it's not owned by the complex.
The rest are closing. As I warned a few weeks ago, mass closures were coming. Now it's happening.
BC Bar (closed)
Double Shot (closed)
Lambada Bar (closed)
Divarium Bar (closing in 3 days)
4T Bar (closing)
Rumours circulating about 3 more, but I won't say anything if I don't have the facts.

These are just the ones I know about in the last couple of weeks.

I estimate Jomtien Complex will be gone in a year or 2. That being said, I think it will just migrate to another soi. One with a more sensible landlord.

These gay bars are not needed

They can now be in "straight" areas in reality

They are only used for socialising by gay expats

The money boys have the apps to meet customers

can't  say I agree but certainly  there are too many bars in the complex in relation to foot traffic.

Hopefully more successful bars will survive although I have nothing personal at stake there as Complex boys are mostly not type I'm looking for, exceptions apply though.

as for apps , it was discussed zillion times but there are clients  who like to see and sometimes feel what they buy, be it dish,  garments or boy in udergarments

Wouldn't suit me.
I like to go window shopping first, then message them on the apps after I have seen they look like their photos.
