"let us return to the actual topic at hand." Who derailed it?

My apologies, guys.  That might be my fault when I asked about the infamous Foodland as well as suggestions for places to eat in the Silom area on my upcoming trip.  Didn't anticipate or expect the subject to veer off into left field and jump down some rabbit hole.  🫣

relax , not your fault

by the way, it's quite normal that original topic get corrupted in course of conversation. Like family dinner , starts with c accolades how tasty roast is and ends with fighting over how aunt Emma divided her inheritance

With this August trip, I have visited Bangkok 6 times this year - February, March, May, June, July and August. 4 of them were short weekend trips.

"Are you coming next month September?" my guy asked me.

🤔🤔🤔

So convenient when you are only 2.5 hour flight from BKK!

So true. Over 20 years I was taking week's vacations and long weekends in Bangkok more often than I can possibly remember. Those were great days.

Weekend trips are great but the hangover on Monday back at work is an awful feeling.

I managed to avoid most of these, partly because I'd always try to start the week-ends earlier by getting the first flight out on Friday mornings and arrive back in Hong Kong early evening Sundays. Besides, my Sunday Bangkok routine used to end with a long massage before I left for the airport. So apart from topping up the alcohol level with a couple of vodkas on the plane, I rarely suffered the Monday morning hangover, thankfully.

Before going to Saphan Kwai, I had afternoon snack at Taco Bell below Raya hotel which opened this year. Not open 24 hours though so Foodland still remains place to go for meals after midnight.

Derby King is open until 0200 and quality of food so much better than Foodland. Lots of eye candy from the bars too

I didn't really know about Derby King until I think someone mentioned it a while ago on the forum. Must have walked past it many times in the past without realising!

I believe most people miss it because of the stalls at Patpong market.

I have been there once and agree the food is more local compared to Foodland but I am so used to Foodland so I always go to Foodland. The supermarket is also handy to buy snacks back to hotel room.
