Could up with a old friend today in Sydney City Australia

He is older than me gay man in his late 60's a cheapskate who hasn't been overseas on around 15 years, I doubt he gets any sex in Australia although he told me he goes to the gay sauna and has to contend with guys our age ,

Lives by himself in a beautiful modern 1 bedroom apartment modern bathroom etc overlooking the harbour with gold tapware etc

He came around to my 1 bedroom unit

He said to me , why is your bathroom outdated?

"You could of spent all that money on updating your apartment instead of travelling to Thailand every year ,in fact you could of bought another apartment!!

And that got me wondering how much money 💲I have spent in the last 20 years

I could of modernised my apartment , I could of probably upgraded to a bigger one if I hadn't gone to Thailand every year sometime twice a year 🏫 I could have ....

Now I feel depressed, he left me feeling depressed 😭

"You wasted a lot of money old daddy travelling to Asia ,  he said as he left ,you could of put marble tiles in your bathroom with gold 🥇 tapware ,!!!

Everyone has different goals, some prefer to spend money on objects, and others on experiences. I think your friend's comments were uncalled for tbh. Live your life the way you see fit.

I mean, are marble tiles and gold tapware going to fuck your ass and make you cum?

Now I see my silver tapware maybe I shouldn't go to Thailand this year

I'm happy with the silver tapware though😲

All that money you guys wasted when you could of modernised your bathroom.

I’ve probably spent about 5 or 6 million baht in Thailand. I don’t regret any of it. Experience is more important to me than material possessions. I do regret buying a condo there, instead of a house in America. But at least I didn’t sell my condo and move full time to Thailand. I’m glad I still own some property in the USA.

Im having difficulty keeping up with my condo now , so maybe I would have had to sell my house if I had one.

I still plan on spending about a million baht every time I visit Thailand. So much fun having sex wherever, whenever I want.

when I inherited some money after my parents died  ( it wasn't a lot, relax ) I decided to renovate my bathroom and put new floor in the l kitchen. That way I avoided a dilemma Olddaddy is facing now and freed myself to waste whatever comes my way on Thai trips. As byproduct I have a nice feeling that I did not waste my old folk's inheritance but put it to good use., freeing my own money to be wasted disgracefully

In the words of Sir Henry Rawlinson (he of Rawlinson End, not the Assyriologist of the same name),

"If I had all the money I’d spent on drink... I’d spend it on drink".

Substitute other goods and services as appropriate.

Not Field Marshal Lord Henry Rawlinson, either !

Everyone has their own priorities in life.  When you look back, you will likely only regret the things you didn't do, not the things you did.  A remodeled bathroom versus not traveling overseas?  I'm guessing a very select few in their final years will regret not remodeling their bathroom versus not going on holidays to Thailand.  Just make sure you're not saving money and depriving yourself of fun.

As the years go by, many people's health declines, and long trips overseas become more difficult, or sometimes impossible, due to physical constraints.  Put time on one side of a balance scale, and money on the other side.  Don't deprive yourself of pleasure by saving money that you may never be able to spend.

Gosh Shonen, I must say I was taken aback by your comment, sorry, brother. Gosh if I could have a prime porterhouse steak and a Hot Fudge Sundae every day I think I would soon tire from the abundance. I must say I don't share your fantasy because not only would I be fat(ter) than I already am, I'd miss the "hunger pangs" and eager anticipation of the next (possible) great experience.

not only age and health weights, sometimes simple changing priorities. I know somebody very well travelled for most of his life, now in his mid 70-ties. All of the sudden he stopped  few years ago. We were concerned that it may be illness but were breve enough to ask him outright what's going on. And answer was both shocking and simple :

' nothing wrong with me but   I noticed that  long distance travel doesn't interest me w anymore".

I can partially relate to that myself , for now only in flights part. For last few years I prefer taking few flights with more connection then sitting in the sliver tube for dozen hours or more, even if whole trip takes much longer , costs more and may require overnight stopover somewhere

Sir Henry was a constant bed fellow of mine when I was confined within one of England's Public schools back in the mid 70's, no doubt the same for other members of this fine parish.

Snuggled under the sheets with my transistor radio and ear piece. If caught by the dorm monitor reported for a dose of corporal punishment and confiscation of much prized radio.

Tuned in to the dulcet tones of Liverpool's finest waiting the next installment of Vivian Stanshall's masterpiece.

Those were the days.

As a 30 year old, I would take a life time of travel and sex with beautiful young boys over a nice appartment when I’m 60

I’m like a bear that goes into hibernation for 6 months(USA), and come out of it when I arrive in Thailand. Its incredibly enjoyable, and satiating until I have to go back to hibernation.

im nearing the end of my hibernation and I’m going through the eager anticipation of the next(definite) great experience.
