Popular Post vinapu Posted Saturday at 02:35 AM Popular Post Posted Saturday at 02:35 AM Part 1. I can sense everybody reading the tittle of report must be thinking ‘ poor vinapu travelling with some rebellious teenager, did he lost his mind?” In fact , not so. My niece is approaching 40, is well established professional working for multinational and most important- we like each other. So even if that trip would be without chance to see any boy up close ., most likely I would like it anyways. Before we set off we reminded ourselves old rule I learned in my university years when I was travelling with friends : “ we are travelling together but each one of us is on his/ hers own vacations”. First signal that she intends to apply that principle was her choice of hotels. Knowing Bangkok has very good value on those she opted for some luxurious digs there, clearly knowing they are beyond my pay range. I got the message as meaning of that was clear – we need our own personal space and I liked it so I opted for cheaper options nearby. My hopes for some fun went up when she told me she knows some people in Bangkok through her work and they promised her to show sights. When she chose Conrad, I found much , much cheaper Quart Ruamrudee in soi Ruam Rudee nearby. After she moved to Centre Point by Saphan Taksin I found new hotel named Hotei Park Silom-Suriwong and then , bravely to Raya. More about new hotel later , I may even create devoted thread as it’s very new and unknown to most of us. We were supposed to meet in Bangkok as she lives in different country than me, after few days go to Cambodia for a week and then return to Bangkok for few days in my case and even few more in hers. That plan was ruined just before departure as my Wednesday flight was cancelled and they couldn’t place me on another flight until Sunday, Quite a delay. So when I landed in Bangkok on Monday evening she was already in Phnom Penh since morning sticking to original schedule. No harm done. Good thing about travelling in low season is that it’s very easy to find accommodation , even on very short notice I managed easily to re-book my Monday morning flight to day later and that way my 40Th trip to Thailand become shortest one ever. Landing at 22.00 and leaving country for Cambodia at 11.30 am next morning , total 13.50 hrs on Thai soil. Arrival was very pleasant affair as senior lane was empty so I was stamped in perhaps 40 seconds. Because of nature of this trip -having girl companion meant I couldn’t plan any boy meetings and decided to play by ear from thee start and see what can be done. It turned out perfectly well as my girl turned out not to be too nosy and also inclined to retire to her room reasonably early so usually around 9-9.30 pm I was free to pursue my own goals. In June as some may recall from my report I met Dreamboy boy who turned out to be one I was stalking on Grindr for some time. We hit it on then and since I had his Line on the train from airport I took chance and messaged him “if you in Bangkok can I see you tonight? “. Response was immediate and enthusiastic ‘yes’. He asked me to pick him up from the bar, easy task as when my flight was cancelled and I realized I will be free man on my first and only night I cancelled original booking in Quart and booked one night in Raya. So about two hours after landing I went to pick up my guy and fun started, We hit it on in Jun and this time we hit it in even more so I made silent decision that I will settle on only one – THAT ! boy this trip. Wisely I kept it to myself as another opportunity opened later. At 7.30 am he asked to go home which considering I had flight to catch in 4 hrs worked well. This was our modus operandi this trip – meet at midnight and part ways at 7.30. My boy is very disciplined and sticks to dietary and exercise regime and this worked well considering nature of this trip. splinter1949, spoon, tm_nyc and 9 others 12 Quote
Popular Post vinapu Posted Saturday at 02:37 AM Author Popular Post Posted Saturday at 02:37 AM Part 2 Flying to Phnom Penh I was praying that I get room on different floor than my niece as we were staying in the same, Okay Boutique Hotel. I couldn’t imagine not visiting Space bar when there and since I got lucky there in the past I thought it’s better to be prepared just in case. There’s that saying that girls have special kind of intuition and before we made Phnom Penh bookings she suggested instead of booking 6 nights we should book 3 and 3. Why ? In case of cancellation . WTF thought I but went along and glad I did. When we finally met in hotel she told me she made mistake of starting Cambodia sightseeing with trip to Killing Fields and it moved her a lot. I was not surprised as I recalled my own reaction when I was there first time back in 2001. Truth emerged that while for me Cambodia is one of my most favorite countries, for her is not much fun to be there and can we please go to Thailand after tomorrow instead of at end of week. Now 3+3 instead of 6 made sense as we could cancel reservation for second batch of ‘3’. Isn’t is fun to travel with niece ? Then another revelation came - her friends invited her for weekend in Sattahip and Guardian Angel passing by enlightened me to suggest her they will pick her up from Pattaya so she may have unplanned chance of seeing that world class , family friendly resort. Surprisingly she liked an idea so we made flight rebooking and reserved rooms in Zing hotel which is not only my favorite there recently but also has very safe location half way between Jomtien and Boyztown. On top of it has two wings, south and north and uncle i. e. me skilfully steered her to book her room in different wing then me, just in case. As for security in Phnom Penh, hotel did good job giving me room few floors lower then hers and facing opposite side of center so sneaking to Space bar all the sudden become viable option . Rest of day we spent sightseeing, went to Royal Palace and National Museum , next day Central and Russian markets , few temples as well as evening cruise on Mekong which finished exactly when deluge started so we had excellent introduction to rainy season coming to hotel completely wet. Sneaking to Space Bar proved easy as by 10 pm. she was in her room if not in her bed and uncle could easily make a short tuk-tuk trip there. As it was mid week bar was not that busy so I could get attention of resident hunks, drinks aplenty on me and working diligently to land somebody to give me a ride to my hotel but I haste to say, it did not work as intended. But I had tons of fun as boys are playful but not obnoxious and requests for more drinks or God forbid , tips, are not existent there . In short , fun, no pressure. As for companionship I think I get how they operate, guys are playful and skilfully creating some hope so one stays and buys more drinks, they when is time to close , all of the sudden some excuse is invented, catching early bus to provinces on 1st night, starting shift at work at 6 am on 2nd night . But it’s all done in funny way without any hint of sleaze or malice and I must say I liked it even if I did not score. Ruthrieston, hurstwickham, llz and 12 others 15 Quote
mauRICE Posted Saturday at 06:14 AM Posted Saturday at 06:14 AM A fun read, vinapu. Out of curiosity, why the hide-and-seek? You never thought that your niece might want to sample some of the delights that you've been enjoying all these years? Or did you want to keep the, ahem, chicken and cashew nuts all to yourself? 😏 Ruthrieston, bkkmfj2648, floridarob and 1 other 2 2 Quote

She is shrewd enough to find her own way to whatever delights her. Surprisingly perhaps as evening was falling upon us she was quite keen to retire to her own room. Never asked me how did you spent last evening / night and I took a hint and neither did I. I liked things that way. We had chicken with cashew nuts together on few occasions but it was during day time as it is well known fact that I , her uncle , don't like to eat after 6 pm in my civil life, Thailand changes everything when comes to my dietary habits. Popular Post vinapu Posted yesterday at 02:27 AM Author Popular Post Posted yesterday at 02:27 AM Part 3 So at my niece’s insistence we left Phnom Penh before schedule and I must say our assessment of Cambodia was/is very different. While I like country a lot and it’s one of my favorites she doesn’t share my enthusiasm at all. That way we found two issues our opinions vary fundamentally – Cambodia and Italian food. She gladly accepted my suggestion to go to Pattaya straight from airport and we had a luck of Jomtien bus departing in few minutes with still few seats left so it was seamless transfer to Jomtien bus station. As I mentioned we settled for Zing hotel (not Zing Resort in Jomtien Complex) half way between Jomtien and Pattaya an secured rooms in different wings for added security and discretion. Rest of day we spent in Pattaya walking along Beach road , visiting Wat Chai and even braving to Walking Street in early evening before supper together and retiring to hotel. In meantime I contacted certain guy from Dreamboys I saw few times before and I’m very fond of both him and certain part of his body. He confirmed he is in Pattaya and is willing to visit me in my room to see recent stamp acquisitions. He asked me to pick him up from bar to which I answered ‘yes, but it may not happen before midnight” , “I wait you “ was the answer. I was actually able to get there past 10.30 , paid off fee and we both went to XBoys for their show at his insistence. As usual very progressive with special show and plenty cock on display but since it was almost the same we watched in Jun he suggested we move to hotel after about 40 minutes inside. In order to maintain security we went there by two separate motorsais and entered lobby like two guest who happen to be at the door at the same time. Few hours of fun and he left but not before I secured his arrival for next two nights, idea he seemed to like as well. It’s low season after all and when I picked him up from bar there were only 4 other customers and three times as much boys on the stage. Next day , Friday , was liberation day as at noon niece’s local friends picked her up for promised weekend at Sattahip which created two days gap when I could feel free man again. While day times I wasted being busy doing nothing , only interruption was massage in Burirom Spa by Dick’s Café with guy I spied while feasting on chicken with cashews at Sophia’s. It was a bit of spectacle as I tried to trigger his attention to no avail but when finally approached him , he was all smiles. Massage was very good indeed, he must have some training but extra’s were quite cursory. No complains from me though as not only massage was great , so was his body clearly showing that when he mentioned daily exercises , he meant it. One evening I sat for an hour in Boyztown to see business there being very slow, another one I went for the show in one of Jomtien Complex bars, nothing exciting but I had their employee sitting with me to keep my hands somewhat busy during spectacle. Unfortunately Max is no longer performing at The Best Bar so no Maxhunt this trip. At night I hosted my Dreamboy guy and we had very good time together. Last years August trip was bit of disaster, this year it was pure and undiluted pleasure. After three nights in Pattaya it was time to return to Bangkok, niece being delivered there by her friends to her super luxurious room at Conrad and I, being poor pensioner settled in Quart Ruam Rudee hotel nearby. We noticed that we can see each other's window, good thing both secured by heavy drapes. Ruthrieston, khaolakguy, BL8gPt and 13 others 15 1 Quote
Popular Post vinapu Posted 15 hours ago Author Popular Post Posted 15 hours ago Part 4 Last 8 days of this trip were in Bangkok and were strictly divided between tourist part at day time and night time debaucheries , at least on my side. Looks I mastered logistics of hide and seek game to championship level and looking back even I myself am amazed that I managed to visit each bar at least once and get boy each night. Dreamboy / Grindr boy I saw on my first night become my semipermanent companion night after night as we hit it on excellently. He seem to like me and I liked him a lot. Personality, body, endowment and attitude, all top notch. When I heard on our second night “ my body is for you to enjoy” I knew it would be idiocy not to get hooked to him without any need to look for alternatives. I kept enough sense though that I contacted him about visit in the evening , not day in advance as on two nights I found suitable alternative. On the stage at Atlas I spot guy I saw in Jupiter last November and was extremely happy with him then. He was as surprised to see me as I was to see him there as I knew from common friend he worked as freelance masseur in some shop in northern Bangkok. I guess old saying ‘ you can chase boy from bar but not bar from boy “ applied to some degree. I did not off him from Atlas that night but left pleasure of hosting him to two nights when my nice was going to booked tours to Kanchanaburi and Railway market. I was in both places so used excuse of being poor pensioner to skip them in order to stay within budget. That was official version and was well received. True reason was more sinister – Atlas guy is not a time watcher so I picked up those nights preceding her tours so I could enjoy his company longer. And longer it was indeed. I saw him on two nights and other six were filled by Dreamboy / Grindr guy who also visited me in late afternoon on my last day. Officially I needed some time to pack and get good night sleep before early morning flight home which in real life translated to 3 hours with guy, dinner and visits to Moonlight and Jupiter then 3 hours sleep before waking up and taking taxi to Swampy. One day when my niece had urge to check newly opened Central Park mall underneath Dusit Thani hotel I suggested she will do that part alone as I hate going to stores if I have nothing to buy and she agreed , likely relieved that old fart won’t be complaining that it takes that long. Little she knew I used that 2 hours of freedom to visit Senso where I picked up guy with broadest smile who turned out to be another guy I follow on Grindr. Massage was great but extras not so much but with such excellent night companions little I cared about extras. As reported in Patpong thread Senso now uses all inclusive price 2900 / hr, 3300 / 1.5 hrs. I won’t be saying anything about bar visits here because I reported them all in ‘Patpong comings and goings” thread. One thing I always wanted to do is Ayuthaya trip with dinner cruise to Bangkok on return and one day we took it for 2300 a head. Great idea to kill the day although if one is interested in ruins of Ayuthaya individual tour would be much better as program included only 3 sites there. Cruise was not from Ayuthaya but it started on outskirts of Bangkok but it was leisurely 3 hours on the river with buffet lunch and we liked it a lot. Beer aboard was 190, still cheaper than 400-500 in bars. To summarize , it were great 2 weeks and I felt like 2 separate trips , one during day and another after dark. Trying to stick to my agenda on niece’s watch was bit tiring and requiring careful planning and keeping mouths shot but few things helped – her clear desire to have her own personal time reflected by her choice of hotels she knew I will not want to stay at because of pricing, fact that she had local friend who it seem were keen on keeping her entertained but also discipline of my semi permanent guy who made sure to leave room at 7.30 because his meal and exercise routine. That made easy to be ready for breakfast together and daily portion of sightseeing. Biggest mystery for me was how I managed to survive all that physically but I guess my adrenaline production went to overdrive. Who would think that trip to Bangkok with niece will be serious contender to best Thai trip ever ? Good news is , while she did not like Cambodia, she seem to get Thailand bug and already mentioned about another trip next year ichigo, TMax, FunFifties and 4 others 7 Quote
