I like the new site but unless I'm missing something I can't find the mark everything read option that used to be at the bottom right on the forums ðŸĪ”

I will not have my posts subjected to endless buffering!

  • The new format is a theme. I don't like it but can't change without support from the company as it is not working in admin. We are trying.

Just curious, if you're not logged in, how are you able to post messages on this thread?

Perhaps you didnt read my original post on this issue ? After logging in failed because the site seemed NOT to be recognizing my credentials, I tried several diff options, from resetting password to clearing browser and reentering everything to creating a New username..... After several diff combos of info, it miraculously logged me in . I am staying logged in UNTIL I can figure out how to navigate the site successfully.

I see, you're staying logged in. That explains it.

This new update to the site is not very user friendly, several complaints from board members (members that were able to log in).

Well, I'm glad the problems arent just mine..... I would feel some type of way about that. There are always growing pains when a site changes format. People get used to and comfortable with the OLD ways..... But my motto is always "if it aint broke, dont fix it, but if you DO fix it, the NEW version should be an improvement on the Old..... I dont see the New format as an improvement aesthetically or functionally.... But I am an OLD guy and dont do good with change..... I just hope they can figure out why I cant log out and back in successfully ?

Click on your name and symbol on the right upper part of the webpage in the drop-down menu. Will have the Mark Site Read.

That appears to mark the entire site as read. The old and more user friendly forum allowed each individual sub forum to be marked as read.

Many thanks for that, appreciate it 👍

One objection is that with some topics, the site defaults to the oldest page, not the newest. Is there a way round that? Annoying when there are 50 pages!

Good luck....We will be patient and hopeful.

Thanks @TotallyOz - that would be GREATLY appreciated.

When trying to insert emojis into new posts it only allows you to insert 1 - and then the picklist empties out.

The ability to center pictures in a new post is now more difficult to find - it lives in a sub menu underneath the three ... dots sub-selection.

When I tried to paste a picture into a new post - the loading attachment display initiated but then nothing happened.

I will try entering my email in the username slot...... However, also when I tried to "contact us", and the process got to the email verification phase, the site NEVER sent me an email link to verify.....But when I went to the "forgot password" choice to change my password, I DID get a link sent to my email on file to make the change..... So something definitely is amiss. Its odd that I am the only one its happening to.... Is the site trying to send me a message that I'm not wanted ? ðŸ˜Ū (jkk)

You got it!

I , being creature of habit , usually don't like this type of changes but must say I found new formula problem free , easy to adjust to it and navigate

Another feature that appears to be missing - on the previous version, on the main forum homepage, there was a listing on the right side of the twenty or so threads that were newest, or had the latest responses. Now it's just a list of forums that requires lots of scrolling.

Its just a very cluttered homepage, and visually, not very exciting or stimulating....... Seems more like a boring travelog.....At this point, my participation is because of the members I have grown to know and like.... And at some point I would love to LOG OUT, but am afraid I will not be able to log back in? ðŸĪ·â€â™‚ïļ

The very useful Unread Content clickable button still exists - it is just positioned differently depending on how you are viewing the GayGuides forum. If you are viewing GayGuides from a PC in a browser it now appears in the upper right corner. If you are viewing GayGuides from your mobile phone it now appears in the lower left corner.

For those who do not know - the Unread Content button/link displays all of the newest posting across all of the global forums - where you can quickly and easily catch up on your favorite topics and/or forum posters.

I was referring to a list of new threads, and threads with new responses, not unread posts. The list was on the main forum page before signing in. It had nothing to do with posts that had been read or unread.

Here's a screenshot. The column I am referring to runs down the right-hand side of the page, it is entitled "Recent Updates", circled in red below.

Notice that on the screenshot, it says "Sign In" in the upper right corner. This was available before signing in.

I am just wondering the reason for the format change ? Did the old platform become obsolete or unavailable, or was it just a "creative choice" on behalf of the admin ?

Unlike previous site upgrades or format changes, THIS one seemed secretive, at least I dont recall an announcement or even the admins asking for member input, although any change is certainly solely the right and discretion of the admin....

It was just a surprise, and not a very happy one...... but slowly I am learning the functionality is not as bad as it originally seemed, although my Log in problem still exists...... which is why it looks like I am logged in 24/7.......because I AM, and fearful to log out.
