Is Screwboy still operating?

Recommended Posts

In accordance with vinapu's advice to visit a variety of bars when in Bangkok I decided to visit Screwboy. Now, at the best of times I have a poor sense of direction, even with Google maps, but it seemed easy enough to find and should be in the vicinity of Good Boy at street level. But no luck.

Screwboy has been an institution and has survived changes which destroyed other venues. Between Chatgpt and me, we have come to the conclusion that it might have closed. Any updates would be welcome.

I was going to go to Good Boy, but had read poor reviews about the pricing, so I decided to return to Dream Boy. This morning I did a search on Gayguides for Good Boy, and saw that my fears were probably unfounded, so maybe a visit is warranted.

When I was last at Good Boy a few months ago drinks were 400bt, off fee 500bt and tips in line with normal.

Yep when I visit them last month when I was in Bangkok, everything seems to be more or less the same as other boy bars on the soi. They have variety of boy body types mostly twinks and hunks but no muscle bros.

I've been there I think only 2-3 times overall as they don't have the type of boys I prefer but just for experience and broaden my horizons 🤣🤣

I was consciously avoiding Screwboy the first and second time I was in Bangkok but somehow they got a tout near the then under construction Nishitetsu Croom hotel and somehow convinced me to visit his boy show bar.

I followed him until we've reached patpong 2 and saw Good boy not knowing it was Screwboy renamed. Hahaha 🤣

The current Good Boy is the rebranded Screwboy I believe.

I was actually wondering if that was the case.

now that  you know the truth, please go , have fun and report back. There may not be muscle guys but few firm sixpacks can be seen and felt. They have quite a variety of types. On personal note - that's only bar where I like mamasan indeed

When I first went there 27 years ago it was called SCREWBOYS, rumoured to have been meant to be named SCHOOLBOYS but the sign writer got it wrong.
It spent a short time at the end of Twilight after which it returned to it's original location in Patpong 2 where you could hear rats running across the ceiling space.

Certainly vinapu.

Anything to oblige. So I'm now committed to paying a visit. I'm actually staying in On Nut at the moment, but I will make a booking in Silom for a couple of nights early in the week.

No problem-- in those days the disco music came from cylinders.

Disco? I thought you'd cherish the idols of your youth like Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby, Billie Holliday, Ella Fitzgerald...

Over around 35 years and way over 100 visits to Bangkok before living here since 2001, I only once had a problem with a barboy I had taken out. He was from Screwboys! I had given him a tip that was more than generous, but he would not move as he said it was not enough. He got no more from me and I never went back to that bar, although I realise I should have reported him to the mamasan.
