From NHK Newsline Japan's main international hub, Narita Airport, will start using facial recognition technology at immigration gates to shorten screening time and improve security. The Immigration Bureau demonstrated the technology to the media on Friday ahead of its debut next Monday. The gates compare a traveler's passport photo with an image taken on the spot. When the 2 images match, the gates open automatically. Until now, one official has been assigned per gate. The bureau says a single official will now be able to handle 6 gates. The bureau initially plans to use the gates for Japanese nationals returning home and to assign more staff to screen the gr…

Larstrup's retirement post encouraged me confess that I'm retiring this Friday, 22 June. I notified my employer after the Christmas holidays and have been working with them on a plan. Currently working in Program Controls on a $1.5B project in San Diego. Have done this kind of work for 35 years and I'm getting burned out. Have been training my replacement for a year and feel he's up to the challenges. My company really doesn't want me to go and we've worked out a win-win relationship. There is a limited amount I can earn each month before it affects my Social Security. The company has agreed to make me a part time employee and let me work by the hour up to the SSA l…

Excerpts from Khaosod English By Wirot Poonsuwan, Attorney-at-Law After panic erupted among thousands of Airbnb providers worried the days of sweet, tax-free income were over, the company told them Saturday that yes, they are breaking the law. “Travel is evolving rapidly, and existing rules in Thailand do not reflect how millions of Thais travel or want to use their homes,” read the email, which went on to say the company was “sharing best practices, case studies and our experiences” with the Thai government. It cited a Thai court of first instance ruling in January that owners of two condominium violated the Hotels Act of 2004 by renting their rooms out d…

The Daily Beast today highlights the campaign of Suraj Patel as he contests the Congressional seat held in New York by Carolyn Mahoney, who is a co-sponsor of SESTA and FOSTA. Sex workers rallied for Patel, creating a new feeling in his campaign. We can be surprised that more don't oppose this phone attempt to stop sex-trafficking, but grateful that some are shining a light on it. https://www.thedailybeast.com/a-new-york-political-hopefuls-sex-worker-fight?ref=home

From Coconuts Bangkok The BTS might be about to get slightly less crowded, as officials are adding 22 brand new German trains to the Sukhumvit Line (Mo Chit to Samrong) in December. A ceremony to hand over the trains between Siemens, the German manufacturing conglomerate and the Bangkok Mass Transit System was held in Ankara, Turkey, on Tuesday. And if you, like us, were wondering why the handover was celebrated in Turkey, it’s because that’s where our future BTS trains were manufactured. https://coconuts.co/bangkok/news/brand-new-22-trains-added-bts-sukhumvit-line/

The great enhancenet the of the upgrade here was for mobile devises. I find that improvement for moblie devises worst that they ever were. Have been. anyone looking for enhanced mobile enhancements for posting is less than it ever was. Editing, etc. boytoy was no benefit for posting via mobile device, there’s been no important impotent to edit and recognize posts ever they ever were before, mobile decides attempting attempting to edit and correct original posts are worthless. Thru posters wanting to correct their original posts are dean to t(e reposting of they moment. None of this is working, especially when one wants to edit it cotterct their posts. This is nothing …

Some of you may know that when I posted over at Daddy's, I tried to arrange one of those meat-n-greets for NY members, like the one they have in Palm Springs ? Well, it was a bomb and NEVER happened... So now, a warm wind just blew in and told me there actually was a pop-up meeting Saturday night at The Eagle, one of the hot city leather bars. The board members were given a FEW hours notice of the event, announced the SAME day.... And the attendance: Total 3, 2 of which were already at the bar for a Pride Week event... The board is considering it a success (just like ALL Trumps events) , and claiming "that's how you put together an event"... Guess …

I have a tumblr blog, not a big one, but from time to time I like to look at the pix I have saved. What bothers me is that tumblr keeps adding new blog posts from blogs in which I have no interest. I delete them, but they reappear almost immediately. Is there a setting I can adjust to block these unwanted posts?

The diva drag queen like no other opened Hollywood Bowl 2018, and it looks like she lost a little bit of weight since her appearance on the AMA 2017, where she was looking a little too portly. As women age (men too), they have to be very careful to avoid that middle bulge, which can be a killer to a sexy figure. For awhile there, Miz Ross was letting herself go, and people were beginning to wonder. Not always in the best voice as she struggles to remember lyrics, but you gotta hand it to this 74-year-old Motown Queen for having the nerve to sing on a stage at this point in her life, corseted to death, mind you. I love when she shares the stage wit…

I am terrible whenever someone is uttering sentences whose meanings are concepts that (to my mind) should be obvious to everyone in the room. I want to scream “TELL ME SOMETHING WE DONT KNOW!” “YOU ARE WASTING OUR TIME” “HOW COULD YOU IMAGINE THAT WE DONT KNOW THIS ALREADY?” The obvious is too boring for me to handle it calmly and quietly. This is true in my work life, private life, online life (as recently demonstrated and chastised here). So I have questions for you guys: 1. How do you guys handle it internally? Do you have the same internal brain reaction, or do you just not mind having to spend 2 minutes listening to something where there is …

....or are you just glad to see me? From Coconuts Bangkok Police arrested three daredevils yesterday afternoon after they hit up a trio convenient stores outside Bangkok while stark naked — a stunt they said was an attempt to imitate foreigners they saw on TV. The three unidentified men, aged 25, 26, and 27, made a separate visit to three 7-Eleven stores in the Ratchapreuk area — while wearing nothing but motorcycle helmets — at about 2am on Tuesday. The men told police the idea came to them amidst a usual hangout at home that night, explaining that they remembered seeing Western protesters riding bikes and marching naked on TV, reported Spring News.…

I am strictly a Water girl, but these have become my New go-to summer drinks.... Lovely flavors, a bit of fizz, NO calories. You can mix flavors by making ice-cubes out of one flavor and using them in a glass of another flavor... Be creative. And Kick it up in a tall glass with ice and a wedge of fresh fruit.... HEAVEN !

Caught this on the news tonight: In a bid for the Minnesota State Tournament, Ty Koehn, a Mounds View High School pitcher, threw a strike-out pitch to his childhood friend, Jack Konon, to win the game. Instead of celebrating with his team, he immediately ran to his friend at home base to hug and console him. It's such a beautiful, loving hug, I think I want to be Ty Koehn's next best friend. Oh, the fun memories of loving fellow boys in high school.
