we can use more elaborate report mind  you , lol

as for visiting bars with boy my generaI comment , not related to your post situation, will be that before we take boy to bars  it's better to make sure he really wants to go there as for many,  if not majority boys that is doubtful attraction.
After making that mistake few times I got actually enlightened by the boy who told me afterward " I went with you only because I knew you wanted".
That is by no mean universal, few times we went to bar because it was boy's idea, not mine and my first ever visit to Tawan was because Arena boy I was passing by with , suggested we go in because he wants to see ' big boys".

Fully agree. I almost exclusively off long time and situation when long time is cut shot happens from time to time.
My view on that is more cynical - almost always when they ask  for early departure it's premeditated and decided well before we closed door. They agree for long time to secure the deal and then invent some idiotic make -believe to let them go.  Roommate needs the key, motorbike parked in wrong spot, sister calling from bus terminal and needs to be picked or they are hungry and promise to return in 10 minutes ( with that my experience is 50/50 i.e  every seconds case they return after short while.).
No sense to resist just let them go and try to extract some monetary concession. Some guilt ridden even offer substantial discount but there are assholes who are ready to make scene if they don't get fully agreed tip.
I don't resist but remember and next time they approach me for an off,  they and all around may hear 'no' and explanation why. But I show ,mercy' to those business oriented who suggested lower tip in exchange for early leave.
No need to dramatize as that is fairly rare .
Friend who rather never offs long time has opposite problem , guys are suggesting they want to stay till morning, usually hoping for bigger tip I guess. In his case it's boys who are disappointed  .
When we compare our proverbial notes I still think asking for an extension happens bit more often than deceitful cutting session short.

7000 Baht per day seems excessive rate for Thailand but if you enjoyed his company and do not regret it good for you.

My friend asked me if I could give him 7000 on the first day and I accepted. I paid the same amount on other days, honestly I didn't question why.😄

I just messaged him and found out why for you. He said that he paid the room rent with 7000 on the first day, 7000 means one month's room rent.😇

Regarding payment, I paid a little more than the current standard prices and I do not regret it.😊
    -7,000 baht tip per day
    - Bar penalty fee for 5 days 5*500: 2,500 baht
    - In addition, daily travel, food and entertainment costs were also my responsibility

I went to Thailand last week,  for the first time during the Songkran festival. We had made plans with my Cambodian friend in advance, but we did not have any conversations about tipping or long-term stay. This issue developed completely spontaneously. When I arrived in Bangkok, he said he could stay with me for 5 days before returning to his hometown and I accepted this offer. There was no problem since I booked the hotel room for 2 people. He only left me to change his clothes and when he went to the gym. All in all, it was a fun experience, including city trips, water fights, visits to restaurants and bars in the evening (moonlight, banana bar and Jupiter bar) and sleeping together. In short, if you find the right person, you can have a great experience.

I moved to live in Pattaya from my home in London UK in 2011, but the appalling drop in the exchange rate after the insane vote to leave the EU has cost me dear. The day before the vote I got 56 Baht to the pound, and the day after the vote it dropped to 36 Baht to the pound. Now at 45 Baht we are still well down.

I've been in both situations and from experience, here's the approach I have developed:
    1. While at the bar, make your preference known but never push for an LT.
    2. Striking a good rapport helps a lot (I guess this applies to both ST and LT). Engaging well and making sure they enjoy their time with you matters.
    3. LT is a risk for you but also for the guy as well. Being in a vulnerable sleeping state with a stranger can be concerning. Aside from rapport, they must feel safe - so any clue they pick up along the way (whether valid or not) can make them change their minds.
    4. On the materialistic side, the state and quality of the accommodation matters. Air-conditioning, a well stocked fridge, strong wifi etc will make a difference.
    5. Sometimes, mama/papasan involvement helps (emphasis on sometimes)
    6. Specify what LT means for you and the $$$ implications if not met
    7. One good LT off with a guy builds your "reputation" in that club (these boys talk!)
    8. Timing matters. If you off too early on a peak night, the guy will finish asap and dash back to the club in hopes of earning more.
Unfortunately, the above are not foolproof. If the guy wants to leave, they will and my advice is don't even attempt to convince them otherwise.

better option is to tidy and secure things BEFORE one sets off for bars and we really never know whom we bring and for how long. Converting short time to long is popular occurrence.
It could be pretty awkward to start hiding things while guest it there. On another hand no need to be oversensitive over issue as theft by boys is very rare but as they say "God guards you when you guard yourself"

and it will certainly help Cambodia to be more indebted and more   colonized by Chinese after those two mega airport projects.
I still marvel at fact that new Siem Reap airport did not have any sign in Khmer, just English and Chinese like Chonquing or Harbin airports.
On merit,  I think railway would better idea and less disruptive to environment than canal able presumably to carry ocean bound vessels.
Expected cost of 1.7 bn will for sure be twice as much if not more when completed as all big infrastructure projects are.
