Most Chinese, especially the old, can not speak English at all.
Consequently when they travel abroad, the only choice for them is group tour operated by travel agencies. A Tour guide who acts like a babysitter will help them manage all the issues (flights, tickets, hotel, meals and more) so they can travel without English and even do not have to communicate to local people. They just need to follow their tour guide to complete all the journey.
Furthermore, the main reasons for Chinese to travel abroad are tourist attractions, shopping and family time, instead of night life. They come to Bangkok for the Grand Palace rather than Silom road.
However, as the LGBT culture gets greater influence in China nowadays, the younger generation (below 35 years old) begin to travel on their own, explore gay bars and even off boys. About 20% young Chinese can speak English so they communicate with Thai boys in English without obstacles, but the rest 80% could only try their best to use body language LOL.
Good news is more and more gay bars, Moonlight for instance, now start to offer Chinese service.

The Vietnamese are considered second class citizens in Thailand. The working boys on Twilight get along ok, but Thais notice that the Vietnamese get offed at a high rate.

If u ever been to vietnam, its a land of twinks. Majority of them are very skinny. vietnamese are opportunist even in vietnam, so they are very hardworking and work hard to get what they want, in whatever way works for them. ever since I traveled to Thailand for the first time in 2000 (at age 36) I went to DJ on every trip to Thailand which was almost every year since, sometimes twice. I always found it exceedingly easy to pick up guys there, or indeed, be picked up by THEM. In all those years, I never went to Thailand for the commercial sex, and didn't make use of it with the exception of sometimes a HE at a legit massage shop. I did try the full service gay shops (like Arena, Adonis, and the like) a few times in the early years to satisfy the curiosity, but no more than maybe 3 or 4 times. DJ and PlanetRomeo (I didn't have a smartphone until I moved here lol) were the usual places where I met my tricks.

Another very recent story: had a young-ish (30 or so) and good looking Filipino friend visit a month or so ago. On the massage question: I only go to the normal shops, not the gay full-service shops vinapu frequents. In the normal shops, no need to state "no HE" up front, as technically it is to supposed to happen. When they offer it (or just proceed as sometimes happen) I don't want to for whatever reason, I decline in a friendly but firm manner, and it will be accepted. Whereas in the full-service shops it is par for the course, making it highly unusual for nothing to happen. 
As for the tip, vinapu (correct me if I'm wrong) tips 1000/hr because it is at the full service shops. I don't recall vinapu ever going to a "legit" shop, so I don't know if he would apply the same tip policy. I guess not as boy won't even be naked there. At a legit shop a "normal" tip is totally sufficient when no HE takes place ("normal" being open to individual interpretation, but certainly not being 1000/hr)

Lastly a quick comment on Christian's post about DJ and GOD: entry is actually free, but they have a minimum consumption of 150 (1 drink, weekdays) or 300 (2 drinks, weekends) Baht. By charging that up front it looks and feels like an entry fee, but economically it is not. 

Could not understand the 'obsession' with free boys. It can't be that some want to save some money? You fly halfway around the world ...
 
I never chase free boys. As a matter of fact, I want to pay up therefore all deeds will be on my terms (well, almost; and I don't do weird stuff). I do not want to 'date' some free boys and at end of the day you do risk they are duds on bed.

Stepping back in time, a second, and a few months.
