Day 12 - Day 3 Laos trip cont'
Heading back to the city, our next stop is the morning market near the bus station. I just wanted to see whats there, but its really just a local market selling lots of ordinary items, and some female sellers are stunned by Y handsome look there lol. We then went to Wat Si Muang which is a Khmer style temple. Very interesting temple with lots of interesting history. I actually planned to visit one more temple (Wat sisaket) and the museum Haw Phra Kaew, but apparently they closed at 6pm and we didnt make it. Instead, I asked the driver to drop us at the Hotel, and walked near the riverside to watch the sunset with Y. After sunset, Y asked me if he can go back to sleep, i said yes sure. We went back to hotel together and Y saw that his laundry is already returned when we went into the room. I told Y ill go out tonight and asked if he wanted anything, He said if possible buy some Lao food. 

As i usually do when i travelled to a new place/city, I like to explore the city by foot, and just walked to one of the point of interest that is within my walking distance limit and came back a different route. I saw in the pamphlet there is a place called Vientiane walking street, which is on the other side of Chao Anouvong Park, so i walked there with google map as my guide. I did walked pass the Presidential palace and the view at night is remarkable. But when i arrived to the location google said about Vientiane walking street, its pretty much deserted. I walked a little further and saw few a different interesting place, where there are few pop up cabin restaurants and have a stage in the middle of the L shape road, where there are a singer performing. But again, the whole area is empty, not many people, i guess maybe i was there too early and this place would be perfect for drinking. 

I walked back on the road next to mekong river and on the side there is another area with 3 big sections of shops and restaurants down the stairs from the road. One section have a fun fair style, the middle one have a stage where i spent most of my time there watching the performance, with a host that is clearly gay. There is a group of teenage Lao girls all donning Lao traditional costumes, i assumed from different tribes, and the host called few of them at a time to perform. Most of the performance are dance performance. But not traditional Lao dance that id hope for. Instead, they dance to K-Pop songs imitating the coreography from the music videos. I guess Korean wave is affecting Lao youngster too. It was very entertaining, but the event ended soon enough, so i continue to the last section, which is more shops and this time some restaurants selling international food, like dimsum, sushi, korean fish cakes etc, and there is a fountain in the middle. I went back up to the night makret, did a quick browse and buy one souvenir and then went to the main street to buy some street food for our dinner. I bought some grilled squid, with lao version of som tam, called tum mak hoong, and some noodles. Also bought a gift for Y in one of the shops on the street. 

Back at hotel, Y still asleep, so I put aside the food and get into bed too mostly on my phone. Not long after, he woke up and eat some of the food. Then he asked if we can go drink outside, but most of the closer shops are closed, so i suggest we go to the mini BigC so he can buy drinks to drink back at hotel. Tonight is the last night, as tomorrow we will go back to Bangkok.
One thing i should mentioned about Y, he recently went through a really bad issue back home. So some of our chat has been about his issue and no, its not about money. Throughout our travelling together, there are times that he suddenly in a very bad mood, and I always gave him his space when he need it. Just a bit later after, he will tell me why or what happened, and im more than happy to lend my ears. And this intimate sharing somehow made me feel closer to him and I really appreciate it when boys feels comfortable enough to tell me some of his private issue.

Day 10 Laos Trip with Y
So Y offered himself to go with me to Laos after i mentioned that im going there. I already mentioned my train of thought about why I decided to take him in previous posts so im not going to repeat that here. My bus arrived at Suvarnabhumi airport around 8.45pm, and i managed to take the 9am shuttle bus to Don mueang airport that arrived around 9.50+ am. Y texted me 5 minute before my arrival saying he is already there. He posted a picture of his location, and i went there and we went inside. We were a bit early, and the check in counter isnt opened yet for our flight. I asked Y if he had breakfast yet, he said no, so we went upstair to have breakfast. 
He ordered beef bryani and i ordered beef noodle soup. I asked him he like indian food and he said no, he dont like the smell. True enough when the dish came, he took a whiff and told me he cant eat it. I offered him to swap with me. At first he refuse, but i assured him i can eat either of the dishes anyway, so he accepted and thanked me. We wait until a bit later to check in so Y can go to smoke few more times before we enter the gate. Even though i dont like smoking smell, i totally understand the ordeal a smoker have to deal with, and sometimes they are addicted and cant help themselves. Anyway, we checked in and goes inside to wait at the gate. At the gate, i noticed one middle age gay asian had his eye fixed towards Y when he passed by, obviously impressed at his handsome look and great body lol. Once we are seated, I told Y that a guy is obviously thinks he is handsome. Y nonchalantly asked me if I see any girl looked at him as well lol. 
In order to board our flight, we had to take the bus that take us to the plane, and this is what Y had hoped for as he wanted to take picture with the plane. We didnt get to seat next to each other though, as the flight is full, but we both got window seats at the front of the airplane, and the flight is only a bit over an hour. Flight was on time and as we arrived, I tried to contact the hotel as they advertised they have provided hotel shuttle, but apparently the phone number on the website is not reachable. I then checked at the airport shuttle if they stop near our hotel and luckily they do. So we went with the bus. One thing i quickly realize is the taxi rate over here is really expensive, unlike in thailand nor malaysia. I also buy simcard for both Y and myself, which is pretty cheap (IIRC usd5 for 5gb 3 days) at the airport. I also gave Y some pocket money to spend.
We stay at Best Western hotel which is at a great location, near the night market, and close to many restaurants. Not that the city is huge anyway, so lots of the area are reachable by walking. The room are spacious, and i purposely booked a smoking room, with balcony. While the hotel allow for smoking inside the room, I told Y to smoke in the balcony and he has no problem with that. We both felt a bit famish so we head out on foot to find something to eat. We found one garden them bar/restaurant near the big road and decided to eat there. Great food, and Y is really on holiday mood, and ordered a local Lao beer called BeerLao. Yup, very creative name indeed. He took some selfie and share it on his FB. 
Btw, i mentioned before that Y proves to be a great companion to bring to Vientiane as people here can speak and understand thai, so Y has becomes my translator too. Each time we go to eat, he knows what i can and cannot eat, so he will order the food for both of us, and eat sharing the dishes. We were at the second floor outside eating area/garden for probably 2 hour or so, with Y keep ordering the beer. I dont really have any plan for the day though so taking it easy at this place is totally relaxing. Yu did told me he didnt really sleep last night as he went out drinking with his friends, so we went back to the hotel and I let him sleep for few hours before i join in to cuddle. We both wake up close to 11pm, and decided to walk out to find something to eat for supper. Thankfully there are few bars and local restaurant still open. We ate at this local Laos restaurant serving set dimsum, rice and noodles dishes. We then go back to hotel, had some fun together and then went to sleep. It felt so nice to have this gorgeous hunk next to me even when im not in Bangkok. I am so glad that i decided to bring Y with me.

I decided to tag on this thread for a short trip report on my recent visit over the Chinese New Year weekend. 
My parents wanted to go somewhere over this period so I conveniently suggested to them Bangkok, a place where they have never been to. My brother would also tag along on this trip. He has been to Bangkok a few times. This trip was also a self-treat for my birthday weekend. It was a last minute decision when the booking was made as I could not confirm my work schedule. Day time was fully occupied with bringing my family around to the touristy spots. I was tired by night time and had to force myself to go out every night.
Due to technical issues, check in luggages collection was delayed upon arrival. It was late by the time we reached the hotel and I had to give the first night a miss.
On the second night, after settling my family back in the hotel, I headed straight to Screwboys. My one and only aim of this trip was to see adorable Myanmar boy from Screwboys again. Though I understand that boys come and go in this industry, I was disappointed that Myanmar boy had indeed stopped working and went back home. I expected he would have at least stayed until the end of his work permit in March, and he had lived in Thailand for many years before this. Therefore I thought the chances of him still being around was high. Mamasan confirmed this with a Lao boy, his friend, standing behind me. I have not seen Lao boy previously, I had to double take on Lao boy as he was adorably cute. CNY Friday night was the most crowded I've seen Screwboys in terms of customers but not the boys. pong, while I generally enjoy your forum input, the masks you keep dismissing could also be hospital grade surgical masks which are effective for their specific purposes, not  by any means “old style” and more immediately accessible to most people than the “Europe painter” masks you suggest. Please don’t scare members into assuming their surgical masks are good for nothing.

Pong, the “old style cheapees” could possibly be legit surgical masks (worn by hospital staff) which are actually encouraged to wear in times of virus contamination. They have a water resistant filter to shield your nose and mouth if you are in close contact with an unmasked patient who may be coughing/sneezing.

Hi guys, back again in bangkok, for a short getaway.
Day1
Arrived at airport, not much hassle despite the wuhan saga. Theres a temperature senser at the part before immigration but no bottleneck as they dont stop individuals to check temperature.
 
Arrives at Le Meridien hotel in surawong road. Wonderful hotel, i always use it. Nice room, service is good. Abit ex but i dont travel to bkk on budget haha ( i come to bangkok to pamper myself) 
 
First up Arena. With Bangkok Guy ‘Shopping’ is capitalized. He really enjoys Shopping. Not the spending of money, he is frugal, but the hunting and looking and comparing. It is the one area in which we are truly different people.

We go to Papaya via the Silom Complex so that he can go to the bank. I decided to give him half the agreed annual allowance up-front, followed by payments every second month. The lump sum came as a pleasant surprise.

As he comes out of the bank I see he has three receipts. “What did you do with the money?” 20% went to his mother, 40% paid off half a loan and 40% he kept. I ask about the loan. His friend in Pattaya with a Chinese boyfriend lent him the money a year ago, around the time Bangkok Guy’s family finances took a turn for the worse. “He rich. Not worry about money. Live in boyfriend house and rent house back home” Bangkok Guy informs me with approval. A potential insight into Bangkok Guy’s aspirations.

After lunch we head to Siam Paragon.

To short-circuit further discussions of tower blocks and eternal wedded bliss I decide the easiest thing is to give Bangkok Guy cash for Christmas and let him pick what he wants.

The obvious downside to this is that once the cash is in his hands he will have other things to do with it and there will be some small attempt to get me to pay for purchases. There is also an emotional angle. He likes me to approve of things and then buy them for him – then they come from me.

First stop is H&M where he zeros-in on white t-shirts. I had no idea there was so much to white t-shirts. He checks the cloth, the seams. He finds some 100Bt cheaper than others for no apparent reason and calls over an assistant for questioning. After around forty minutes he has three white t’s.

During this process he has been checking in on me. Last time we went shopping my stomach was upset which did not improve my mood. Today my stomach is fine and while shopping bores me I find Bangkok Guy’s total immersion in the process entertaining, so all is well.

Then he uncovers another cache of white-t’s.

These are a Henley pattern. Long sleeves with three buttons at the front. I think they are very smart and, to avoid a further forty minutes of deliberation, offer to buy him one. A purple note changes hands and he is smiling. I have admired him in it and bought it for him, very emotionally satisfying.

On to UniQlo where they are stocking the shelves with a new line of soft drawstring shorts. After the usual deliberation and seeking my opinion he selects three pairs before heading to the fitting rooms from which he emerges to give me a fashion show of the shorts with the H&M t’s. As always he looks very smart in a simple clean cut way. On the way to the cash register he tries on a kaki sun hat, which frames his face perfectly. “Very cute, I buy for you”. Another purple note changes hands. It turns out to be a great buy. He wears the hat pretty constantly during our travels and looks very cute.

Bangkok

Since the last trip Bangkok Guy and I have added Line video chat to communication-by-sticker. Given our linguistic deficiencies, ‘chat’ is a bit of an over-statement. It is more face-reading – we both get to see that the other is well and happy.

Apart from struggling through Chinese tour groups blocking the entrance to immigration while they receive their collective instructions, my journey is uneventful, just as I like it.

After a brief nap I am up and bouncing and head for breakfast on the hotel’s riverside terrace. Over breakfast it dawns on me that I have not really thought through this choice of hotel.

The concept is good. Find a relaxing spot by the river where we can spend a couple of days before we travel doing nothing except sitting by the pool while I get over jet lag.

The execution, well, I must have been busy with something else when I booked this.

The hotel is very nice.

But the pool is crowded with families with kids. Exactly what I avoid. No quiet swimming of laps here.

Bangkok Guy arrives in the evening and after dropping his bag in the room we head to Vertigo for a joint birthday dinner.

After bringing each other up-to-date (he is working for his sister who, after genealogical enquiry, is actually his much older cousin) I ask him what he would like for Christmas. I had said I would get him something. He looks at me as though I am quite odd. “Cannot say. Has to be surprise.” Surely Falang you realize this?

“In my family we ask each other, so that people get what they want”. His face lights up – “Get what want?” I see where this is going but keep a straight face “Yes, what you want?”

Think of something else.

Bangkok Guy signals to the waiter and what arrives is not the dessert menu but a birthday cake and the whole song-and-dance.

“How they know?” Bangkok Guy signals complete lack of knowledge. I know that too-innocent look. Surprisingly it is fun and once he sees my grin Bangkok Guy is very happy. We enjoy the cake.

The check arrives and I decide the waiter deserves a decent tip. Bangkok Guy sees me add the 1000Bt note and his face turns into a series of question marks before politely but decisively taking charge and taking the check folder from me.

His next shock is the bill. It is a stunner. A little over 9000Bt including service fee and taxes with no alcohol. You pay for that view.

He, very sweetly, tells me how we will handle this.

First, there is already 10% service fee. He will handle tip. Waiter will be happy. If I handle tip, waiter die of shock. You want kill waiter? 

Second, we now eat Thai. (We do).

He tips 200Bt and the waiter is indeed happy and, what is more, lives to enjoy the 200Bt.

Back on the ground I tell him he was correct. I will now follow his lead on tipping (I do). “In Thailand is already service fee. Save 800Bt”. Bangkok Guy is very happy with his contribution to the evening.

Day 3
After Y left, which is closed to 10am, I checked my messages and replying jason and maleire for a bit before my after breakfast nap. Maleire is going back home today. I woke up around 1pm, more texting before heading to iconsiam for my late breakfast. Took the BTS, then the free shuttle boat and i ate the mix rice dish, 50 baht for rice and two dish, 60 for 3 dish. I chose thai fish cake with bamboo shoot with chicken, and also bought mango sticky rice for another 50baht. This is definitely worth the price and i got to eat in a very upscaled shopping mall. The mall mustve subsidized these seller on rent at the very least, otherwise i cant think how the seller can sustain selling food this cheap in such an expensive mall. After lunch, I went around the mall window shopping and also went to the apple store, which have access to the outside garden terrace with view of the river and i can clearly see Mahankhon tower from here. The weather is quite hot so i didnt stay long there.  


Back to my Laos predicament. One of the reason i didnt immediately say yes to Y is to first check the hotel and flight prices, and see if its what im willing to pay. Flight was rather on the high side for a short distance but it is a very late purchase, but the hotel price are very reasonable for a hotel room with balcony for Y to smoke, so i decided to take him with me afterall. I did went through all the reason why taking Y with me is a good decision. First, apart from LT tip, only major expense added are flight, and food which i understand from reading the internet as well as asking some friends is really cheap in Laos. Second, Y ticked so many boxes of what i consider a good companion. He remembers me after 1 year. He has no hesitation to go LT with me. He dont mind walking to Pullman G. His services in the bedroom deserve 5 ticks lol. When i brought up Laos, he is the one who offered to go with me, another tick. And after we had our LT session, he still interested to go with me to Laos, for whatever reason, he can stand being with me for more than 8 hour, another tick. He can hold a conversation as well, rarely i need to use google translate. He also opened up about what i consider very private issues, and i am a sucker for meaningful conversation like this. And of course, he insisted to pay for the dinner, which might just be a ploy or an act of being manly as he knows he will get them back through tips, but still a nice gesture nonetheless. I might sound bias because i like him very much. 
Lastly, Laos trip is supposed to be my recovery trip, free and easy, without much planning involved. So even if he suddenly decided he dont want to walk, or want to stay in hotel or want to go back early etc, it wont bother me much as long as at night, he delivers. Vientiane isnt that far from thailand, and its only for 3 nights, so i think he is worth the risk. So I texted Y, and told him ill take him. Asked him for his Passport details, and booked the hotel and flight using expedia. I shared with him his flight details and told him that we will meet at the airport as ill be coming from pattaya that morning. So yeah, ive given this a lot of thought. At that time, I just cant find one reason that is a deal breaker for me to take him. As a bonus for him, he is due to do his visa run as well and my trip to laos is actually 2 days earlier than his visa. So it works perfectly for both of us. Plus, I doubt i can find boys as easily in Laos, especially of this quality. 
Back to trip reporting, after iconsiam, I went to prime again, and again allowed to choose from ipad. From the selection, I saw the masseur i had yesterday amongst the list, so i chose him again. Even more sensual than yesterday, but still no HE offered, and i expected none anyway but the massage was so relaxing. I actually almost forgot about my visit to prime today, as i checked my conversations history and didnt find any mention of prime visit, but i do recalled i took the same masseur twice from Prime, and given that this is my last night here before leaving to pattaya tomorrow, this is the only time i couldve taken him again. 
Tonight, I will be meeting divinemadman, anddy and jason1975 for dinner and bar visits. We decided to pay homage to madrid tavern, my first visit this trip for our dinner before heading out for bar visit. The pizza as always, amazing but the discussion we had is even more interesting lol. 4 of us are massage lover so that topic is definitely discussed, especially when we have Divinemadman with us. Apart from exhanging notes on massage places and the boys, we discussed our preference on massage table vs bed, with or without facehole and hand position when facing down. I'd take massage table with hole anytime, as i can relax my neck and still breathing. Divinemadmen excused himself after dinner to meet a friend at a banana bar, so its just me, jason and andy for bar visit tonight.
