I think that this is a case of two countries separated by a common language.  Last resort has a negative connotation to it.   Imagine being told that you're hired for a job but that you're the last resort.  Not a vote of confidence at all.

    I disagree.

Bar gets inflated beer price as entrance fee.  Fine.
    Bar gets the off fee.
Drinks for guys you want to chat with for sure, although they'd probably prefer a decent tip.

Stupid Reply!      He had bought a drink and will pay an off fee.  The Bar has done just fine.  In fact especially in BKK where drink prices are way too high, I rarely buy the boy a drink and instead slip him money if I don't off him.  He is happier and the Bar already got plenty of money from me .  If I like the Boys on stage I might have to talk to 2 or 3 boys before I find the one I want to take home. And sure I am not going to buy them 400 baht drinks where they get 50 baht if they are lucky. They are much happier getting a discreet 1-200 baht depending on time spent.

    Friend...INDEED

O.K...I admit I injected a minor bit of suspense/drama at the end of the last section of this report.  As is often the case I'm influenced by the reports of others and their style.  So the hook in the last report was to bring a reader back to see what I was writing about...

I'm in the bedroom portion of the room, Van comes in from the kitchen area, he wakes me and says he's brought  a friend.  This is a first, not in bringing a friend, but in not mentioning it in advance.  I shake the sleepiness out, get up and notice the friend has come into the bedroom with a big smile.  OMG, it Uyn...my off from Screwboys the other night, the one I've been trying to get in touch with.  What's going on...?

Van is watching all of this, standing behind Uyn with an even bigger smile on his face.  I'd never mentioned Uyn to him...did I talk in my sleep?

I'm ushered into the sitting area in the kitchen where there is a table with enough chairs for the three of us.
Van laughs, says something to the effect of "I think you two have met".  The guys get comfortable which means stripping down to their underwear.  The view is incredible.

Van makes tea for us, Uyn opens some food they brought with them.  I frankly don't remember what it was.  My brain is trying to sort things through.  I know I like this friend, but how did he and Van come together to visit/surprise me?

Eventually, with the tea in hand, the story comes out.  Van had gone back to his dorm to pack and show his jacket to his dorm mates.  Uyn is one of those dorm buddies.  Van mentions that I helped with getting the leather jacket, Uyn tells him that we had hooked up and he knew it was me as Van had shown pictures of me to him.  Apparently, Van then showed more photos and thought it was funny (it was)...

When, Uyn had told me in bed that he knew me, I thought that he knew me from Yoyo, another go go boy from Screwboys.  Yes, both of them are Vietnamese as is Van.  I never thought it was Van who had talked to Uyn about me. Since, I hadn't been upfront with Van about my nocturnal  trip the other night, I convinced myself that since they worked different sides of Surawong, my discrete indiscretion wouldn't catch up..   As PaulSF knows and reminds meme - all the Viet boys know one another and they talk.

As my brain cools...I comprehend that i have two almost naked beautiful / handsome / sculpted boys with me and we are enjoying each others company.  Uyn, who's seen the surprise on my face, asks if I've forgotten him already?  I find my wallet and show him the slip of paper he gave me to find him on Line.  He sets about setting up the connection and also friending me on FB.

Van is actually in charge and asks (knowing the answer before it is given) if Uyn can go with us tonight.  We can get some food at the chicken and rice cart in the bank parking lot.  And he suggests that we all need a shower before we go out.  The shower is big enough for the three of us.  I'm the center of attention for a personal clean up campaign.  Just some touching and horseplay and the gift of seeing the rivulets of water from the rain shower moved over and down Uyn's sculpted torso.  Van's not bad either.

We dress and head out.  While eating we are joined by Nom/Michael one of the bar boys from Hot Male.  He will reoccur in this report at another time.

From dining we move on to Hot Male Bar where we are soon joined by DivineMadman who I sit next too.  Van puts Uyn on my other side and he sits next to Uyn.  DivineMadman and  I talk an each other's taste in companions.  The bar boys, Sam and Noon are hanging around, One or the other of us buys them a drink and I buy one for La the grabber of unsuspecting tourists for Hot Male upstairs.

DivineMadman suggests that we head out for Jupiter before it gets crowded.  We go and get seated.  We're in the section that is not in the pit at the stage but in the first row next above the cross walkway.  Show is has been reported by others, most recently Numazu.  DivineMadman and I try to figure out which performer is Mehkin.  There is one guy that meets the description but he has  a significant tattoo, so not sure.  Then a true star crosses in front of us on his way to the stage.  No question...this is Mehkin.  Not quite my type, but I can see what the buzz is about.

While the show is going on DivineMadman and I are comparing notes, Uyn has his hands roaming over me and puts my hand where it can experience growth.  As the shower/water scene is in progress, Van leans over and suggests we should go as Uyn has to meet his ride back home for Tet at 2am and...  The "and" which is not stated is an action plan the two of them devised earlier.

We go back to The Raya, Van puts on headphones and starts watching a movie, Uyn I and move on into the bedroom.  The light in the bedroom is brighter than the light the other night, and Uyn looks even better and...we kiss and deeply.  At some point he's inside me.  I come as best I can and he finishes with a powerful toe curling chuck wow.   As we recover, Van joins us and following some clean up, he takes charge for some intense cuddling and further play.

2am comes and Uyn is off to Vietnam and Tet.  I thank him and gave him 2000 THB for the trip.  Another long kiss and he's gone.  Photos and messages continue to arrive even now two weeks on.

Van still smiling over the success of his "surprise" has me spoon him until I fall asleep.

Hate saying it but this place really seems to be on its last legs.  Was there just after midnight and frankly none of the guys on show were bodybuilders or anything close.  In fact one particularly fat kid seemed to be the lead in most of the numbers on stage.  It was so bad it actually felt uncomfortable to watch.

Also, not thrilled about the behaviour of the barker out front. Spikey haired guy with the tatoos.  It was after midnight and I hadn't really intended going in.  He stopped me and i said 400 baht was a bit much for one hour, so he said ok 200.  I didn't haggle, he suggested.  Of course I was charged 400 and he completely denied afterwards.

The two hundred baht isn't really a big deal, I just dislike the dishonesty.

Frankly, the place generally has a whiff of desperation about it, which to me isn't very sexy.

I think many of us enjoy reading your report and I don't think anyone is trying to be unkind when suggesting your tips were on the frugal side.  I guess these transactions are a grey area.   Of course none of us wants to throw money around in a stupid way, but sometimes considering the relatively small saving, it might be more noble to err on the side of generosity.

But I have to weigh in with all of the other voices in saying I'm enjoying what you're sharing.

Reading these last several posts, reminded me of why I never finished my posts about my October visit to Thailand and Laos.  So, let me give the condensed version.  I'd been in Bangkok then went to Chiang Mai, where I had one great massage at Two Brothers, then flew back to Bangkok for one night before going to Vientiane and Luang Prabang.

Inspired by Numazu's scheduling / juggling skills, I'd arranged for an meet up with Vinapu's Screwboy twink for a meet up and dinner, then I planned to try and off someone I saw a Jupiter, and finish up by offing Van at the end of his Freshboys stint.  Van and I have been meeting up for a couple of years, so I anticipated he'd jsut do short times (if he was offed) and meet me for an overnight.

Well...communications melted down within the first hour back at the hotel.  Mr Screwboys, who had been sending me daiy photos of himself and appendage, was a no show, I texted and "Lined", decided to get some dinner and head off for Jupiter, when I started getting Facebook messages from Van.  Strange he's a WeChat-er.  Needs to see me right away am I back in town yet?  (I'd smudged the fact that I'd be back several hours and boys before seeing him).

Gave up on Jupiter, tell Van I'm at the Tarntawan.  He's there in ten minutes with a high stress level and no ID.  His passport and phone have been taken.  The Tarntawan security remembers him from the week before and let's him come up to the room and pours out the story of what happened and asking what he should do as without a passport he can't work and can't leave the country without paying extra.

At this point, my phone starts exploding with messages from Mr Screwboys, apologizing, he overslept, he is on his way, he will make all right for me.  Another charming appendage photo.

I say to myself "Self, you have one Vietnamese boy in your room who is distressed and not gong to leave and you;d plan to have him stay the night, so..."  I texted Mr. Screwboys to forget it, too late now.  This brings in another half dozen messages, no more photos, but lots of crying emoji. Van is so caught up in his own drama that he doesn't notice/ignores all my texting nad the phone ringing and not being answered.

So...relationship to this thread is the amorphous Thai sense of time, meeting times, that my over organized personality didn't consider, thus Mr. Screwboys was a loss.

Van told me he used a friends phone to FB message me as my WeChat information was on his lost phone and he remembered that I was on FB.  Clever/Resourceful.  I explained to him how to go to his embassy and get an emergency passport, this did not register with him.  Nor, did the need to go to the police and report the loss.  Just a lot of panic in his face.

He stayed with me, which confused the morning security guard as there was no passport to return. I gave more advice and doubled my usual overnight compensation - which would give him enough THB to pay the embassy.

I left for six days, excellent days and nights in Luang Prabang - just sightseeing during Buddhist new year.

To tie up the loose ends...Van was waiting for my return to Bangkok, he now had a phone but had done nothing about the embassy.  He asked if I'd go with him as he was apprehensive about going to the embassy and that there would be more respect if I was with him (?).  Ya from SiamRoads helped to lessen the apprehension as he new Van from a visit we'd made to Pattaya a while back.  So, I spent my last full day in Thailand shuttling back and forth to the Vietnamese Embassy, with a stop at the Police Department to make a report (see above), an Embassy return with the Police report, and another embassy stop to pick up the temporary passport.

Note - I was not asked for any THB to help with these adventures, other than to pay for the taxi.  Van spent the late afternoon and evening in making the day end memorable.

This probably didn't belong here...but the posts about contacting boys and follow up reminded me of my this and that I'd never finished my report.  I guess I just did.

To suggest that it is unfair to ask the boy which is better for him is ridiculous.  Of course they can answer what is best for them and of course the question is asked discreetly rather than in front of the staffl.

Buying a drink for the boy is discretionary, which is why they ask you if you want to buy a drink for the boy.
Buying a drink to cover admission is not discretionary, which is why they just ask you what they want to drink.

I think one of the sexy things about the massage is wondering as what point will the masseur turn things up a gear.  Until it happens you often don't see it, em, cumming, so to speak

    That's part of the fun.

And incidentally, if you're passing by again, let me recommend Jo

abort? why would you do that? even if there was no hint of more to come, maybe no hint YET. They all have their different styles, so just wait and see.... aborting guarantees nothing more to come. At worst, you'd get the full time's worth of a massage if there were actually no extras to cum (which I would think highly unlikely at a full service shop like Arena, to the point of being inconceivable)

I understand and I have  plenty such voices after all my trips wherever they were.

Generally speaking I take very little pictures and never with people on them unless they ask or find their way to a picture by accident.

I know I should since I don't have pictures of boys you mention even for my own consumption so to speak. But this is me.

Few times I took pictures of or with boys on their initiative, some I still have them but  would never show/post them without their consent which I'm not even looking for. So for example world will not see Barcode boy at Preah Khan where I took several pictures at his request, sent to him  already. If he posts them somewhere I have no problem with it but I don't.

All this idiosyncrasy has actually nothing to do with maintaining privacy as most would suspect.

I simply think that instead of admiring beauty of people or nature we spent too much time and energy taking pictures of them.
    Weird?, No?

Keep taking photos like that in the airports and you will most likely meet many men and maybe some ladies in uniform in the interview room before heading to some less comfortable accommodation than you may be used to in Thailand.

Thanks Christian for your thoughts. You made a good argument from your painful? experience.

"Summary : the OP is unbalanced." I totally agree with you.

However, call me old fashioned but I still believe in the concept of
    'noblesse oblige'.

We were born in the world where we took comfortable home, university education, highly paid job for granted whereas most of bar boys were not.

Most of us on this forum are experienced travellers, enjoyed the places where a Thai bar boy will ever see only on TV or movie.

Do you remember the first time you received your passport?
Were you 8 years old when your family visited Spain for a summer vacation.

And imagine a Thai bar boy who has applied first passport as his farang customer instructed with promises of foreign trips.
You see his smiling face holding first passport on Facebook.

And then the farang ignore the boy's Line messages.

Farangs and boys are not on an equal footing.
I firmly believe that farangs should be on higher moral, ethical ground.

Or at least sending Line message to say ' Mai dai ' ( I cannot) to an anxious waiting boy.
