alwaysrio got a reaction from dingo in Gay-Owned Coffee Company Brazil
A gay-owned coffee company in Rio has launched in just the last two weeks called Jacu (after the bird, it is not Jacu Bird Poop Coffee). I met the owner, and he is impressive. He is pushing diversity and has hired a great team. One of his executives I met is a guy who grew up in a favela and is now finishing his third year of law school. The company pays his tuition and high salaries.
I asked how I could help. If you are in Rio, you can order the coffee at @jacucoffee. It is shipped the same day and takes about two days to your location in Rio. Just great tasting coffee and the picture on the box is the owner's farm.
He also said they started to use social influencers to add followers to  @jacucoffee. They are opening a coffee and doughnut cafe in Rio Sul.
Can we help to drive up the Instagram numbers? Can work to get placement from more retail stores in Rio and SP. And when you are in Rio, ordering some coffee makes a great gift. I just brought back 12 boxes to the USA. Selling at R$39 for 250 g box in Brazil, this same quality coffee in the USA would be priced over US$15.
Say they are expanding to the USA market, have meetings set with large retailers.
Sorry did not see this topic before I posted.

Went on bike ride from my apartment at Posto 10 to Posto 1 and back started at 18:00. Covid has not keep gay men from the beaches in Rio at the start of non-Carnival. Easily 3,000 men at a party on the beach at Posto 9. Several older men walking with their Toy Boys.

My entrance into Brazil on January 6. I took the RT PCR test on Sunday and traveled Tuesday night on AA. The gate agent checked the test results and the registration with Anvisa receipt. There were 5 people who did not have a PCR test or the Anvisa Health Declaration and were not allowed to board. There was a 30 minute delay as the airline removed their luggage.
Upon arrival at GIG no one checked or asked for the test results or the Anvisa declaration.

I am returning to Rio on August 18 it is the first flight AA is flying from Miami. I will create my own sauna experience at my apartment.
Regarding travel health insurance, Alliance is covering Covid-19  in its policy.
I had AA miles that have been impossible to use over the past few years, even to upgrade to business. I was able to purchase with miles 3 business class tickets for a total of 240,000 miles + $59.00 for travel August, November, and January.

https://about.geo-blue.com/crisisalert/covid19-members And GeoBlue may be extending some coverage.
I have a longterm plan with GeoBlue for my USA medical and world travel.
Don't worry about responding to me  SolaceSoul because I deleted my account. After 10 years of reading and responding to this forum my time is up. I have never met one person on this forum I would even want to have a beer with. Plus I voted for Donald Trump will vote for him again. Also I would vote for Bolsonaro if I could. Have great live and happy travel to Brazil.

In Rio and Sao Paulo, March 6 through 27. My very unofficial one-year exclusivity contracts with my guys have expired so I will be looking for new ones. Please accept my apologies if the new potential fitness model at Lagoa or the dreamboat from Belo Horizonte that you saw just walk through the door at 117 is suddenly taken off the market.

alwaysrio got a reaction from AdamSmith in U.S. State Department travel warnings for Dominican Republic.
Sitting in an apartment in the Colonial Zone as I write this post. Walked home from the Plaza Espana after dinner back to the apartment at 10 via the Conde never felt afraid.  Of course, I was with a tall, extremely muscular personal trainer from San Cristobal. But just always be aware of your surroundings and do not look like a tourist. I walk around the DR and Brazil all the time wearing a Hublot watch but it looks just like everyone else's $100 watch.
I did forget to lock my suitcase on the flight from Miami my luggage was delayed and when it arrived at the apartment a new pair of $200 Nike running shoes were gone.  As usual, being a victim of a crime even a small one is our own fault with a just a momentary lapse in judgment.
I did not see a warning from the State Department on the trip to the prison for sex. Got my local fixer seriously checking that out for the next trip since it has to be on a Sunday.

The price of the watch misses the point. If you try to blend into the landscape the less opportunity you have to be a victim. But even making a momentary mistake or lapse in judgment as I did in forgetting to lock my luggage I then became a victim.
Was I more visible with an expensive watch which looks like everyone else's or the tourist sitting at a cafe on the Conde wearing a shirt with an American flag that said, F Trump? That is the point.

The sophisticated thieves do not steal high-end cellphones especially ones that could have a six-digit password,  fingerprint or eye identity entry. There is no money in the sale of these stolen phones. They know which phones to take. The kids who steal phones who can be more dangerous to deal with. They take iPhones or similar open them take out the identifying components and even now that the phones do not now work they sell them as a status symbol. Like the guys who sport  3-carat diamond earrings and are working in a sauna. Everyone knows they are not real.
Please share the area you were waiting for your Uber so that it can be avoided. One thing is for sure these thieves will return to the same area again and again.

I still even with guys I have known for over a year and have come to my apartment several times a month. I still have them leave their ID with the doorman.
Also, I do not know if it helps. I learned that if you see guys outside the sauna do not give them the exact date you are departing. I always tell the guys my departure date is a few days past when I have already left. For me, it seems that they are much more likely to take something when they know you are leaving and may not see them again. Plus when the guys know the day I am leaving that is the day that everyone's grandma gets sick or mom fell on the train on the way home from work. Over 6 million people live in Rio and two guys the same day mothers' fell on the train and are in the hospital within two hours of the other. What a coincidence!
We have all been there. My first trip to Rio 10years ago the other site set me up with a guide who stole R$700 and then he complained I did not pay his full day guide fee to the administrator of the site.
