I feel I need to do a short write-up of my experiences in the Northeast - I left some bits and pieces in comments elsewhere in various topics, but let it be a standalone post.
I really really like Nordeste - guys are more down-to-earth and they care more about you, there is more chemistry and less rush, it's cheaper, it's sunnier. Fortaleza. I visited a few times before the pandemic, during the pandemic, and as recently as earlier this month. The sauna to go is still California. It's not as bursting with excellent garotos as 7 years ago, but it's still quite busy. Over my week in Fortaleza this January, I found out that no day is totally dead. Best days are Thursday and Sunday. Thursday is when all GPs are naked or with a towek wrapped around their dick, plus there's a stripper. The stripper has two outings a night - first a regular strip, but he goes from the stage to the audience to interact - in my case, he sniffed and licked my neck pressing his body into me. Dragon sauna is the best in Brazil in terms of facilities, but it is empty with GPs, even during their big events. There are a couple of them at best, and they are quite jaded ones - it's better head to California. I really don't understand why it's not happening with Dragon - I can only assume it's high entry fees for garotos, as in terms of facilities there's no even comparison between Dragon and California, but all GPs and their clients are still at California.
There are more cruising bars, like the ones that opened in Rio - Rommeo, Eden, or others - but they are very non-GP ones. I've been to Eden on the night they advertised a live sex show with a visiting porn star, and the vibe was very non-GP - lots of people, incl some young ones, but none appeared to be rentable. Other than that, Fortaleza has quite a quirky underground non-sex LGBT scene - Berlin-style techno parties at The Lights on Fridays and Saturdays, and samba at Teresa e Jorge bar where there's quite some gay presence.
Recife. That was a major surprise. I visited this month for the first time in a few years - I think I did one trip early into the pandemic, but not after that. I remembered there were two saunas - Boa Vista and Blue Thermas - which were normal saunas but with some GP presence. On a visit this month, I was pleasantly surprised by Boa Vista - so much I spent all my three nights there without even visiting Blue Thermas. Boa Vista is the main sauna where quite a few non-hiring Recife guys go, some of them are simply stunning but not GPs for some incredulous reason. However, there is quite a substantial presence of GPs in the sauna, and I had multiple romps. Same as Fortaleza, the universal rate is 100, suites are at 30. On all nights I had their best suite which was itemized in my bill as "presidential suite" - it was 40.
There is a maze, there are free cabins, there are open showers, it's actually quite a modern clean and very busy sauna where GPs are a fixture but not the main element. Still, you can have lots of fun. I had incredible experiences there, including with a guy who had great muscles and a great smile but was really nervous throughout but very attentive to my needs - when we showered (and the presidential suite has a large shower cabin with two shower heads so you can shower together with a guy and may continue to romp there) he told me he came from a rural inner state area and this was his first ever visit to the sauna and I was his first ever client. As he was visiting from the village, he was planning to stay the night in the sauna - it's open all night and serves free breakfast at 6am to those who are still there.
Boa Vista also has a separate hall open on weekends which is pretty much a nightclub dance floor - with distinct 1990s high school prom vibes, but lots of local towel-clad patrons dance there which I think is really cute in its strange way and not something I've seen elsewhere in Brazil in saunas.
So actually Recife was a blast. There is an interesting gay quarter 5 mins drive from Boa Vista with a proper night club and a few funky gay bars - I stayed outside on the street with a caipirinha and just observed the crowd. Really good.
Sao Luis. I will mention Sao Luis as I don't think there were any reviews, and I've been possibly three times there, though not since 2021 or 2022, I think. They have a very decent GP sauna called Go.61, or it's called Sauna Go on some of their socials. It's sort of California style, very similar to what Fortaleza has, but with an added bonus of a swimming pool. There are similarly cheap suites and drinks, as well as plenty of free cabins on the upper floor. When I visited, I met really cool guys - again 100 was the usual rate. The best days are Thursday and Sunday. Sometimes they have performances, or bingo - at other times it's usual karaoke or just simple fucking, no complaints.
Sao Luis is a really good city. On Friday nights, the whole historic center (where the sauna is, btw) turns into one big street party. They also have a week of June fiestas which is pretty much a carnival in June. An hour long public boat ride away with a severely drunk boat captain brings you to the island of Alcantara which is a ruined colonial city lost in time and space - a great day out.
That all pretty much sums up why I liked to come back to Nordeste all recent years - and sometimes (but not always) it's an even more satisfying experience that the meat conveyor belt of 117/202/Lagoa in Rio and SP. Long story short, there is life on other planets in Brazil.

I just spent 5 days in Santiago de Chile. Zero Sauna or GP activity, so please move on if that’s the only thing you are looking for here. I normally wouldn’t bore our fellow members of ‘standard’ city trip report, but as Santiago is so out of radar, I decided to give a brief report.
First of all, I have to say that I was truly impressed by this country. It’s my first trip and I didn’t expect it’s to be so functional. It’s a latin American country where most things work, and often in a quite logical and efficient manor! The second thing which kinda shocked me is how adverse the nature here is. I’ve always seen south America as a blessed land with benign climate. Chile is more desert and very seismical. It’s even more impressive that they built the tallest building in Latin America, the majestic Costanera tower, which looks curiously like a twin of WTC tower III North in Beijing.
The airport arrival and the trip to the city centre was extremely fluid. It took me less than one hour from the airplane door to the hotel room door. I stayed at the Intercontinental for the first 4 nights and it took the Uber only 20 minutes to complete the 24 km journey. The driver told me that some Chinese company built this new high way with mostly tunnels and it has shortened the trip time by half. The Intercontinental is very solid, a bit outdated but the service is just top. The lounge is one of the best ones I’ve been to, counting Asia. Later I found out that there is even a Mandarin Oriental! For the last night, I moved to Olá Santiago Tapestry by Hilton. I really wanted to try this new brand of HH. It’s simply to the Moxy of Marriott, minimalist and trendy, targeting young customers. They generously gave me a 5 pm late check out as my flight to NYC is after 11 pm.
The city is obviously affluent, and very easy to navigate. It has a very efficient public transport system, combining metro, bus (they call it micro here), bikes and scooters. A trip costs less than a dollar and it can last up to 2 hours with up to 2 changes. Uber and Didi are cheap, with a trip from Las Condes to the historical centre costing less than 5 dollars. The mobility is essential to the living standard in a big city and Santiago did it right. There are many malls with international and local brands, without the absurd surcharge as in Brazil. Hermes is 50% more expensive than in Europe so at the same price level as in the US. Young people buy mostly in Shein, Temu and Mi, all Chinese.
Currently 1000 Chilean peso make up for 1 euro so it’s easy to calculate the prices. Scotiabank offers fee-free withdrawal to my travel credit card of Revolut.
It was extremely easy to get a local sim. I got one from WOM for 1 euro in Costanera with 1G data and 50 minutes of calling time, then charged in their app 3G more data and unlimited social media for another euro.
I did some investigation on real estate prices. In a good area, las Condes, Providentia, etc, a nice condo goes for 3k euros per square meter. Renting a simple room in the centre could cost as low as 150 euros. Considering the slower end salary being around 1k euros, it’s actually easy to have a decent living. That said, I did notice some off-chart expensive things sold in the centre, such as a scone of fries for 10 euros in a random Venezuelan diner.
China is by far the biggest trading partner of Chile, reaching a bit shy of 40% of their export, 3 folds of to the US, followed by Japan and Korea. I spent the weekend with a young investment advisor of private banking in one of the major banks here. He told me that in general Chileans feel very lucky of having choosing Asia instead of America as their main partner. They are afraid that north America wouldn’t have taken them seriously and the rest of South American neighbors are just too broken. At the same time, they are deeply worried about the economic slowdown in China, hoping it would be a softer landing.
The city itself doesn’t have many world famous touristic sites. Actually most people I met were surprised that I came for tourism, staying so long and only in Santiago. Some noticeable ones include: serro San Cristobal, serro Santa Lucia, the historical centre, and numerous museums and cultural centres. It’s a bit frustrating that most sites close early at 5 or 6 pm, but the day time lasts until 9ish. They stick to the same time zone as San Paulo even they are much more to the west.
There are interestingly lots of flee markets, mostly in the Lastarria area. It seemed to me that the vendors are just normal people trying to make some extra income or simply get rid of their unneeded stuff, clothes mostly.
The only less satisfying part of my trip was sex with the locals. For some reason, at least the guys I talked to and I met, most of them have quite small cocks. If you don’t know why you need a cpf, then probably you don’t need one. But for regular visitors, I do think it’s necessary. Simple things like using city bikes or ordering food on iFood (Uber eat stopped delivering food, but only groceries), you need a cpf. At least now you know how to get one online in case.

I try not to fly TAP, with all their delays and missed connections. Plus, I'm usually on Skyteam so AF works better for me. However, TAP indeed is a good option to fly to NE Brazil - but one should allow ample time in LIS for connections as TAP flights are routinely late by at least an hour.

with regard to the flights - for those of us in Europe, Air France has direct flights between Paris and Fortaleza, it's just an 8-hr flight, and there's no need to go first all the way down south to SP or Rio, and then all the way up north to NE. And Air France's Fortaleza flights schedules are quite good - almost doable as a long weekend from Europe)
I’ll be flying the AF416 in Juin and they will be using the new A350-900. Still no doors but definitely an upgrade from the A332 that they are using now. Can’t wait.

One of the small accomplishments that I had this time in Brazil was getting my CPF. I was prepared to go to one of the CAC offices, but then I discovered that I could do it completely online.
The process was pretty straightforward. But you do need to speak some Portuguese. Basically, all you need to do is to fill out a form online, obtain the ‘protocolo’, then email it together with a photo of your passport, a selfie holding your passport, and declaration of address.

The only tricky thing, is that you have to get to the right person attending the emails. I first tried the email of Bahia. The answer was, it was not possible, because I do not live in Brazil, and I should apply it in the embassy of Brazil in my country of residence, which was obviously contradictory to what’s written on their government portal. I then tried the email of Rio Grande do Sul. I got a reply in two hours, and my CPF in one day. When I talked about this with my friends in Salvador, they all complained about the government officials in their province, saying that most of them got the job through nepotism.

I were there on Saturday 6th Jan around 7 pm. It was a quiet night anyway, quiet on the clients end. A dozen gps were present, most of which light skin colored. I visited Clube Rio’s on Thursday 28th Dec. 2023. It was running a pre-réveillon event. The entrance was slightly higher, 70 réais for 1 and 130 for a couple, but it included free flow selected cocktails and snacks. I arrived at around 5 pm. It was packed! I only visited once Sauna Fox during my 8-day visit in Salvador. I went there on Tuesday Jan. 2, the first opening day of 2024. In spite of being the free cabin day, it was extremely empty. I counted in totally 5 boys and around the same number of clients.
It’s located in Pituba, far from any touristic areas. It’s actually closer to Shopping Bahia and Salvador shopping. The area is more higher middle class, with some bars and restaurants scattered around. I walked a bit in the yellow (commercial) area marked by google map, but was not impressed at all. It was just nothing special. It actually reminded me of certain “city centre” of smaller American cities, generic and bland. In terms of security, I didn’t feel any difference comparing to the city centre. Again, I’m not sensitive to insecurity.

I later learned that you can actually pay a lower entrance fee (or maybe no fee at all) just to have a drink / food in the garden. During my 8-day visit in Salvador Bahia, I went twice to Clube 11, once on Dec. 29th 2023, and once on Jan. 3rd 2024. My general impression is, Clube 11 is the more popular and better GP Sauna in Salvador. I know other fellow travelers have a different take on this, and I benefited enormously reading from their experiences. I’m just here to share mine.
