  1. I like this thread, it covers what's on my mind at the moment. I'm taking early retirement this February and I'm thinking a lot about what to do next. I don't think I could be in Jomtien for more than a few weeks. I'm an engineer and I also have a part-time mandate that I can do remotely. Nevertheless, I am relatively sure that I will get bored over time. I would probably become lethargic and an alcoholic over time. Even having fun with boys would probably get boring 🙂 . I will probably do it in such a way that I will escape the beautiful but cold Switzerland for about 3 - 4 months, travel around Thailand a bit and then stay in a rather quiet place like Hua Hin. Of course with a detour to BKK and Pattaya  from time to time🙂
In two days in Jomtien... I'm looking forward to it

    For reference, when was this?

One of the reviews on the agoda says:

To be honest, that was just before COVID started. So things hopefully have changed. The pictures from the rooms look promising and if they also renovate the sauna in a similar way then I would give them another try for sure. But this time, I am on the other side of the gulf... Jomtien and Koh Chang 🙂

I find it extraordinary that travel insurance is not mandatory for genuine tourists and a basic health insurance mandatory for all expats. Why anyone would consider travelling anywhere without some form of health and accident insurance absolutely beats me.

    I'm out of date....but pre-covid, 1800-2000.

Still valid.... maybe 1-2 hrs earlier

  4. Well said Forky. Last year I spent a few days in Jomitien (after a stay in Vietnam). On the way from the beach to the Zing Hotel, you inevitably pass Soda- and Foxy Smile Massage. Most of the people at Foxy were quite aggressive, some stood up and wanted to drag me into the establishment, whereas at Soda there was a relaxed atmosphere and people smiled at you (yes, some boy looked at their cell phones there too, but I understand that too, it's boring to sit outside all evening waiting for customers). Foxy was therefore never an issue for me... but you mileage may vary.

  5. Great report, thank you daydreamer. I will do almost the same in two weeks (Some days Jomtien at Zing and then Koh Chang). But I have a bungalow in the south of the island. I will probably rent a motorbike and will visit various places as I have done on Samui.

    Enjoy your further stay!

  6. I will be in Thailand from mid-January to mid-February 24, a few days of which I will be in Jomtien/Pattaya.  The last days,  I've been using fake locations on my phone to fake my location in Jomtien via Grindr and HeeSay (former Blued) apps just for fun and to check the market. The messages from guys were overwhelming, coming in every second. I realized that most of them are MB's (Which is ok for me ,-) ).
I am wondering if there is an interest here in the forum to exchange information about Grindr/Blued users like it has been done before here with guys from bars and massage salons etc? So I think about a kind of reputation list for users on Grindr/Blued(HeeSay) apps where you can share your experiences about those guys. Of course,  I know that everyone has his own idea of a great experience with a boy and the whole thing also has a privacy aspect (for the boy as well as for you), but maybe there is still a demand of exchanging Grindr/Blued experiences here?

    Any Thoughts?

  7. Maybe a bit out of you walking range... I spent many times in Pinnacle Lumpini (You can book it through Agoda, but not via booking.com), but it's just one station from Saladeng via subway. I spent many times there because it was in walking distance to Babylon (RIP). The rooms are still ok, the breakfast is still surprisingly good and the  clientele is still 30% gay (CN, TW, SG and US/Europeans). I also booked it for my 2024 trip, because is so affordable. Even I already know that I will not stay there for most of the time, it's good to have a home base where you can come back at any time if you do spontaneous trips. Probably not what you are looking for, but just wanted to mentioned it anyway.

  8. The last time I was in TH I used UBER quite often (also for longer distances like BKK-> Pattaya). But Uber left TH (I heard some rumors why, but still not sure about that).
So, what can you recommend as a transport service a la Uber. I heard from Grab, Gojek and Bolt... but have no idea what I should take for my rides (BKK -> Pattaya and Pattaya -> Ferry to Kho Chang). Thanks guys!

  9. Hi

One of my first posting here (IMHO). I will stay in Thailand in the time frame of mid January to mid February. Can somebody recommend a hotel/resort on Koh Chang (Not necessarily gay)? Should be at the beach and please not crowed by Russians (Sorry, I am not a racist but I had my experiences in the past).  I know, Kho Chang is not famous for gay live, but maybe you know some gay bars/massage salon etc (Not so important because I will also spent some day in Jomtien)? Or even another place for relaxing at a nice an maybe calm beach?

Thanks a lot for your help!
