  1. given the current situation I would not suggest going further south than Surat Thani or Hat Yai at a pinch! bkkguy
  2. a tragic followup from the Songkhla news story, breaking news from Pattaya Today, Wednesday 23 August: A reader of a notorious gay sex tourist forum was found late Wednesday night with his throat slashed. An unidentified man wearing a Nazi flag and excess jewelry was detained at the scene reportedly with blood on his hands and mumbling "It was his fault, I warned him not to demonize me" bkkguy
  3. I just think it is better not to tell people it is "stupid and dangerous" to ask a question when it is neither and as for "often enforced with harsh penalties" I don't know what "other forums" you have been reading but the many news reports and forum discussions I have seen over the past two years on this have been fairly typically clickbait, scaremongering, vague, inconsistent, and anecdotal with little reliable evidence of consistent enforcement or even consistent harshness of penalties - loathe as I am to quote from a source such as reddit a recent post on the topic there made the scurrilous comment that "enforcement will depend on location, who you are, and if cop is looking to make some cash" it is illegal to import or sell such products in Thailand, possession for private use is no defense and the issue is recently attracting increased attention from authorities, but I just think people need to make their own informed decision and a critical evaluation of Google results is more your friend then the likes of samebb bkkguy
  4. but thousands of threads on multiple discussion forums and blogs asking about prostitution - which is also illegal in Thailand - are not "stupid and dangerous"? and what about all those other threads about the risk of carrying a photocopy rather than your original passport to satisfy that other commonly discussed legal requirement in Thailand? "stupid and dangerous" as well? or are you just being sanctimonious on issues like vaping/smoking you don't agree with? bkkguy
  5. why stop there, it is not uncommon in other countries, eg Singapore, for such stored value cards to be used at cafes, department stores, convenience stores, car parks, taxis etc. Rabbit is already well down this road with their card accepted on BTS as well as a large number of stores, cafes and fast food places and doesn't one of the tollway companies already operate the MRT? (hence the new logo everywhere, BEM - Bangkok Expressway and Motorway) - but perhaps a bit of a personal logistics problem trying to use the same card at MRT turnstiles (card in your wallet) and expressway tollbooths (card attached/held up to windscreen)? and if/when the spider card hits the streets it will be interesting to see what info you need to provide to get one - based on age I qualify for an "elder" seniors discount card on MRT but being a falung not the BTS seniors equivalent bkkguy
  6. my experience with the metro/tube/underground systems in for example London, Paris or Singapore has been station "connections" with 500-800m of winding walkways with multiple sets of stairs/escalators - but at least you are still within the ticket barrier bkkguy
  7. Sang Som is not even remotely related to whiskey - it is a rum made from molasses, aged in oak then mixed with a blend of herbs and spices; Mekhong and Hong Tong are blended spirits made from molasses and rice; and Blend 285 is a mix of malt whiskey and pure alcohol bkkguy
  8. so have we given up on the photo forum already Scooby? bkkguy
  9. in the last bombing in the deep south the perpetrators stopped a pickup van on the road, killed the driver and stole the van that they then planted the bomb in - one wonders why the authorities think the perpetrators could not also steal a mobile phone and SIM to use to set off the bomb but of course we all trust the authorities to keep these fingerprint databases secure and not use them for other more nefarious purposes so it is no problem that this is just the usual security theater to look like they are doing something useful when they are not! bkkguy
  10. as is usually the case if you are not paying for it then you are the product and that is the least of your problems here - perhaps spend more than 5 minutes and learn about some of the privacy, security and technical issues with this product and part of that time is actually getting the court orders which is why they didn't end up blocking facebook according to the Bangkok Post and many other sources! and NIrishGuy it is not yet a criminal offense to read articles about this topic on the local press web sites and is unlikely every to be! bkkguy
  11. I didn't want to drag ryanasia's topic "off topic" but was intrigued by an op-ed piece in the Bangkok Post today on the current move for marriage equality here Marriage law equality call risks staining rainbow flag Paisarn Likhitpreechakul, Bangkok Post, 18 May 2017 http://www.bangkokpost.com/opinion/opinion/1251610/marriage-law-equality-call-risks-staining-rainbow-flag bkkguy
  12. so the photo forum is designed to be an empty forum? or you seriously believe people here are going to check that they have, and if not acquire, the "rights" to the images before posting? from recent posts in the other threads it would appear many do not even believe any such "rights" apply to images on the Internet and I don't see moving image posts to another forum will make much difference to that! or is this just to look like you take the issue seriously? bkkguy
  13. that's why it's called "no frills" and "low cost" - air tickets that offer priority channels at full service airports cost more! bkkguy
  14. will you be including Ez-Cut at Sala Dang BTS exit into Thaniya Plaza BTS Wing? 120 Baht for the cut, not including beard bkkguy
  15. obviously they just like it more subtle - or does the massage venue in Soi 4 and the freelance moneyboys infesting many of the venues in the soi not offer happy endings these days? I am sure the venues in Pattayaland Soi 3 would be interested in hearing this even if they are unfamiliar with where exactly the Montien is, and I thought they changed the name to BoyzTown years ago? meanwhile in Bangkok the Montien shopping plaza is being re-developed as a new shopping plaza of the same size as the old plaza and rumors of a massive re-development of both the Montien site and Soi Twilight in the next 6 months, 2 years, whatever, have been circulating for the at least the last 5 years and may need to be taken with a grain of salt and after 30 years of allowing saunas, go-go bars, discos and a multitude of other gay venues if the Moslem family that owns Silom Soi 4 .... and if my aunt was a man she would be my uncle! bkkguy
  16. the operating value of, for example, a laundry is sometimes difficult to evaluate - but then I suppose things like laundries are often easy to re-locate bkkguy
  17. particularly if they also got wet, because then you really could see "most" of them bkkguy
  18. if you are really so infuriated by this why are you repeating the information and providing a link to even more details of the information about his past? bkkguy
  19. the army in the deep south have raised similar concerns about transporting soldiers on patrol - in the Bangkok Post article I did not see any expressed concerns about transporting insurgents and I assume the Pattaya BIB will also be on duty at the official baht bus "Bus Stop" points on Beach and Second Rd to ensure all the baht bus passengers are strapped in safely - including those standing on the back steps but proving once again that convenience trumps safety in Thailand, and because of the social media and public backlash, the enforcement of the no passengers in the back of pickups law has been delayed till an unspecified date after the end of Songkran so everyone can get home and have fun during the festivities, probably a reasonable response - I mean if you have a pickup full of family and friends you are not going to speed or drive drunk are you? bkkguy
  20. I hate it when people refer to private conversations in public posts so I won't tell you to check my PM reply bkkguy
  21. I have posted much more deserving comments to earn the label "intolerant crap shooter", and anyway being shocked by such things has a long history, for example a scene from Casablanca (1942): http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0034583/quotes?item=qt0429972 bkkguy
  22. yet another example of an outsider not understanding Thai attitudes and Thai ways - I am sure I join the grieving millions in being shocked that even a crude misguided foreigner would believe that any Thai official could have such crass considerations about such an important event bkkguy
  23. for Thai tastes the Nescafe Dolce Gusto capsule system (coffee is not always black or in a red cup) offers (to my taste cloyingly) sweeter and mostly milk based beverages compared to the Nespresso system (coffee is always espresso but bring your own Aeroccino) but now that Nespresso has an "official" presence in Thailand capsule prices have dropped considerably and the Nespresso Thailand and Nespresso-Thailand (50 shades of grey) web sites both have for example Arpeggio and Ristretto capsules at 20 Baht with free next day delivery on typical office-sized orders Nespresso (and possibly Nescafe) also offer some commercial grade systems for office and hotel use but I am not sure of their availability or support in Thailand illy, Segafredo and a few others also have capsule systems available in Thailand but not necessarily with the level of support Nescafe and Nespresso offer - have a wander through Central Chidlom one day! but coffee is not always in a capsule, and there are many fine fully automatic machines (sometimes even with (semi-)reasonable automatic milk frothers) suitable for an office environment that allow the use of significantly cheaper but good quality local coffee beans from DoiTung or the royal projects in northern Thailand but whatever you do stop them getting a machine and a lifetime commitment to Boncafe coffee - they may be the "'best-value-for-money'" coffee supplier in Thailand but i would rather drink klong water! bkkguy
  24. if you were going to suck I would of thought the goal would be the gism bkkguy
  25. not everyone agrees ... NSFW web site searching out the "cock within the schlock, the ass in the morass, the fuck in the WTF." http://www.luriddigs.com/ (semi-)SFW review of Lurid Digs http://dangerousminds.net/comments/john_waters_favorite_website_critiques_gay_interior_design_as_seen_on_grind bkkguy
