  1. All my experience is with Hanoi. If your looking for a gay scene, not much. One bar, few massage places. The apps are alive though. If you want company you will find it. Lots of traffic. To much ? That’s for you to decide. I’m a city person so that stuff doesn’t bother me. Uber and grab taxi work well. Taxis are cheap. Pretty much everything in Vietnam is cheap. Crossing the street is harder than getting around. HCMC is developing a gay scene. A few bars and massage places, but you have to find them. The apps are very busy. You can always find someone to show you around. More expensive than Hanoi, but Vietnam is still a bargain.
  2. The situation in Vietnam has vastly changed. With the apps. Bangkok’s Vietnamese are straight boys. The Apps have allowed the gay boys in Vietnam a place to surface. I don’t use the apps, other than to just see what’s going on. Vietnam is the only place that I have received messages from boys . Because I don’t hire off apps, I have very little in my profile, I was surprised to be contacted. If you go to Vietnam and use the apps, you will have a good time. Paid or free.
  3. Who determines what’s outrageously expensive?

    The 13

    It’s a headline from today’s Bangkok Post.

    The 13

It’s reported that one of the four rescued was the coach. They said he was very weak because he gave most of his food to the boys.
  6. According to the Bangkok Post, 3 boys and the coach are the ones out so far. It’s reported the coach was very weak because he gave most of his food to the boys.
  7. The engagement will probably be longer than the marriage, so be patient.
  8. I don’t necessarily agree. Just because someone goes somewhere and has very positive or negative review of a place doesn’t mean you will have the same experience. We spent all this time, money and travel getting there, check it out for yourself. You don’t need to stay, and most places are in the same neighborhoods. Easy to go place to place. We all have different ideas of fun. Check it out.
  9. NBC is saying 2 boys are out and in ambulances on the way to the hospital.
  10. There is signage at the opening of the cave that says basicly, Danger in caves from water from July-September. It was June when they entered. I don’t know if anybody knows the why’s of this happening, but let’s get them safely home then figure it out. Im not in Bangkok right now, but have been talking to friends everyday. The country is gripped by the story. Chang Rai is over 400 miles from Bangkok.
  11. Yes, he just started the post. He is traveling this weekend but when he gets posting again he will cross post it here to the Asia forum.
  12. He just left Bangkok and is starting a post on that trip. So Lucky you can read Asia and Brazil trips at same time.

    My June trip

Using Grab Taxi is a great option for hard to find places. You can enter the address into their app. This will show up on the drivers map on his phone, and no conversation is needed. I use Grab 2-3 times a day and rarely have an issue finding anything.
  14. You can give all the constructive criticism you want hoping he won’t bore you, But he is in no way going to change his style of writing. He has written several stories of trips to SE Asia for another Site. He has this past year started traveling to Central and South America and was asked if he would do some write ups of his experiences here. This is his style and it’s not going to change.
  15. They quite often do Live Facebook of show around 11pm.
  16. I like and use Qatar myself. Just right now they are going through lots of changes these last few weeks. Read flyertalk. Lots of people that swear by them are steering clear for now.
  17. Quite a few good fares out there to Bkk starting in September. But Qatar is one where you will have hard time finding low fares. They are going through some internal money issues and changing up lots of services. Their fare are going up. But they did just have a great fare sale out of Miami for September and October. Over now, but you do have to check fares constantly if your looking for really cheap fares.
  18. I know the property you are talking about and I know a few other forum members have stayed there. We have all been fairly satisfied staying there. Getting the key is very easy 24 hours. If your staying for the first time she will walk you across the street and show you the unit. Security guys are not an issue. I have brought many boys there and they barely look up. Location is great. Taxis very easy to get. You need to use elevator key card to go up or down, so you will need to walk boy in and out. I’ve never had a problem with smell. Pool is nice. Not much seating, never many people there. Gym is small but ok. For me it works, I really like it. You said your looking at 10 days. I’m not as familiar with Saun Plu, but have heard good things about the area.
  19. And that cardio includes not running from bar to bar to bar.
  20. I believe it was the usual cast change issues. Attitude issues and money.
  21. I will miss it also. I have the final 3 episodes taped and will watch this weekend. Almost from the beginning I binged watched each season. The story lines carried over each week, so was fun watching it all at once.
  22. I’m not using Asia Miles, when I fly Cathay I post my miles to My American Airlines account. I use my American miles for Business seats on Cathay. It’s true there is lots of wheeling and dealing trying to use miles. British Airways would work great for me, but their fee’s on a mileage Business seat is more than buying an economy seat and upgrade on American. A few years ago all the airline programs were pretty much the same. Not so much anymore. You really have to do some homework to keep up with it. Many on here say they just look for cheapest ticket they can find and don’t care about mileage accounts. Nothing wrong with that. For me, I’ll continue to play with alliances as long as it works. So far I have never in 10 years have had to fly to Bkk in Economy. I’ve never bought more than a PE fare. Hopefully I can keep it going. Time will tell.
  23. My trips are from Miami. I fly Miam-Boston-Hkg-Bkk. I get about 8k base miles and about 9k miles for fare and status. This is in Premium Economy. If I fly American Airlines I can buy Economy fare and upgrade to Business. Trip last month was 17,530. That’s one way. Round trip 35,060. This is with Cathay Pacific. Then throw in the miles I get from Miami to Boston, or LAX or SFO, if I go that way, and I’m just about at the 40k point. A Business Class ticket on One World airlines is 70k miles. Upgrades can be had for 25K . When I retired I had 1.5 million miles. I used miles mostly for upgrades, that way you still earn miles. Do free trips when fares are high.
