  1. desafino has just created a new thread titled - AM: JFK-BOG RT Biz Class from $651 - in the Premium Fare Deals forum of FlyerTalk Forums, which you have subscribed to. This thread is located at: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?p=33800053
  2. ¡Buena suerte con los estudios de español! Good luck with your Spanish language studies. Wanted to share this article on best restaurants in Latin America, as many are in Bogotá. Maybe a memorable evening out for you and your Colombian friend. https://thecitypaperbogota.com/dining/colombia-rankings-among-latin-americas-50-best-restaurants/28751 There are also two restaurants on Monserrate (mountain above Bogota city) where you can enjoy a romantic meal overlooking the city. https://restaurantesmonserrate.com/ and La Parilla Monserrate (no website) +57 1 745 4630
  3. @macdaddi, if you are going to be in Medellin or Bogotá in April, I would love to invite you for a meal, a drink, or all of the above, and pick your brain. Let me know, please.
  4. I've been considering the idea. In the long term, I wanna visit several Colombian cities and I do not enjoy visiting more than one city per trip. So the question would be where to start. Bogotá or Medellín, one of those two will be my first. And no, I am not really looking for the "gay fun", other than Grindr and local escorts. I do like spending the day with guys, but exploring non gay activities and places, but mingling with the locals. Medellin closeness to nature and weather are strong points. Also, I enjoy the more relaxed vibe of some cities (that is why I am not interested in São Paulo). I may be wrong, but in the videos I am watching Medellin strikes me as more provincial, I like that a lot. I would avoid El Poblado as much as possible, for instance, and explore areas that are popular for the locals, not for gringos and other tourists. By the way, I am Argentinean. Both nationals like each other and have a long story of cultural exchange (Carlos Gardel died in Colombia during a tour). I doubt they will see me as a gringo, and hope they will soon consider me an insider if I start traveling regularly.
  5. I have been to Medellin twice. I would say when your in Colombia you are considered a "gringo" no matter what your race is if your foreign in Colombia. The great thing about Colombia, if your Black, is that you can blend in, unlike other posters that might stick out like a sore thumb. There are native Black Colombians that look just like Americans . Unfortunately, there is not a large Black population in Medellin. There are really only 3-4 gay places to visit in Medellin. Honestly if your looking for gay fun I would skip Medellin and go to Bogota. Bogota is bigger and has better gay venues
  6. I just posted on another thread about Ecuador. Guayaquil and Quito are the cities to visit. In Colombia, Medellin and Bogota is where you will find the hottest guys.
  7. Hey @Latbear4blk always happy to share what little I know. I will be in Medellin briefly next week for Noche las velas (Dec 7) which is the unofficial kick-off to the holiday season and my favourite Colombian holiday. Flights are really cheap right now (check Avianca and CopaAir) and I was able to snag a deal from Bogota to the DR for another commitment. From all reports from my Medellin fam, things have mostly returned to normal functions (schools and offices open again) Will post an update on the local scene -- I know the big clubs (Oraculo, Purple, and Industry) are all back to normal crowds. The strippers and drag shows are packing them in every weekend. Have been trying to update the Colombian business listings in the Colombia forum and will include sauna/massage businesses updates when I return from that trip. Will be in Colombia from early January until March. May stay longer, depending on weather. Happy to orient you to the city if I am around, but something tells me you will be just fine on your own
  8. Going to bogota on December 1 was wondering what’s currently open
  9. From my Colombian friends, thing are progressing back to a new normal. You will be expected to wear masks in almost all indoor situations (malls, hotels, government buildings, etc. Bars are restaurants are back to full capacity. There you will be expected to wear a mask when moving through the room, but can remove it once seated. A curious custom I saw last year was Colombians putting masks back on when the waiter or service person approached the table. The big megaclubs (Theatron, El Mozo, Ghetto Tank, et al.) are very relaxed with masking and you will see very few masks indoors. Clubs like Gigolo Erotic House, Recreo de Adan, or Perro y Candelaría are also very lax on masking once inside. Likewise, any outdoor space (cafe, restaurant, bar etc.) will not have a requirement for masking. Keep in mind that Bogotá is at a very high altitude. The days in January can run into the mid 20's C, but things cool off in the evening. Much like Canada, you will see many outdoor spaces with heaters to keep the punters warm. You will see big crowds around the city as things have largely returned to a routine. Colombians are fun-loving and very social as a society.. They are fascinated by the sudden global interest in their country, and I believe you will meet many cute locals that will be happy to introduce you to Colombian culture. I would also suggest you might want to consider other warmer options during your trip, like Cali, Medellin or Cartagena -- there is a big sale on intercity travel right now and I got my flight from Bogota to Medellin for just $20CAD on Avianca. It's an incredible country and I hope you enjoy an amazing birthday trip.
  10. Hello: I'm heading south to Bogota in late February 22 to celebrate my 57th birthday and meet some cute guys. How are things there since the pandemic began? I live in Canada. Cheers ... Ojibear
  11. Good points. I was aware of all these considerations when I put forward the idea. I had actually also recalled that you yourself highlight a proportion of clientele that shows up as a social outlet more for watching than doing. The population age pyramid in Brazil is also quickly creeping up with a greater proportional share of 30’s, 40’s entering mid to later middle age, with presumably a concomitant desire for public venues beyond hire apps. A growing ‘silver economy’ pulling up aging gay men into it. I didn’t suggest that the gogo boy contingent adopt the private dance model or that the stripper/privatedance model would supplant the circumscribed period of time in which the drag/gogo performance occurs. I believe the venue pays a fee for the show. In contrast, integrating the stripper concept would not dip into the house profit margins. There would need to be some segregation between the two stage-gaze performance models and between the private model of programa and private/semi-private lapdance model. One of the reasons I highlighted Pnt202 is that the structure could accommodate this functional split in the same way I have witnessed such activity segregation in several establishments that have multiple floor levels serving clientele, eg Toronto, Montreal, CDMX, Bogotá. In Brazil, it would involve adding the middle ground I described that would live on the continuum between gogonotprostitutebutprostitutionthatmaybebyanothername, and conventional quarta trick. Obviously, the key is finding a new performative breed that the clientele willingly supports financially, and overriding the risk of a JetsSharks-grade feud between garotos and strippers (or streepers and gogos as some of the latter might resent losing private business on the down low). Of course, I could go on and add the house massage w/w-out benefits, &c, &c. If commercial sex work were to be decriminalized in Canada, it would likely be a challenge to integrate a sauna brothel - massage parlour model into a strip club without the functional segregation aspect. I’m not saying it’s easy, but it’s not a stretch to find patron support for a diversity of erotic interactional transactional entertainment. It’s a matter of worthwhile volume. It’s all somewhat moot because Junior’s establishment going under doesn’t affect me. And my proposal is not going to materialize. And then there were 3 …
  12. After having been to Toronto and Montreal clubs for years, my experiences at Manhattan NYC venues, CDMX, Puerto Vallarta, Acapulco (though that city’s visits more dated) and GEH Bogotá were a joke by comparison … Kafka-Burl-esque. Almost as if they were trying to reinvent the wheel without the benefit of a solid experiential grasp of how things are best run. That is why I suggested an entrepreneur such as Junior would be better off witnessing it in person. So your points about the feasibility of introducing the concept at Point202, etc are well taken. My suggestion rests partly on my wish for more selection in terms of the physical type that appeals to me as well as my adaptability to a full range of erotic play that does not necessarily culminate in the ‘main event’ that is characteristic of a programa.
  13. Sounds like I need to check out Montreal. I admit to being near-virginal when it comes to lap dancing. One bar in Mexico City, can't remember whether he even let me get to 2nd base. Didn't have a chance to check out the top floor of Gigolo House in Bogota. But at Lagoa and a couple bars in Brazil, the stripper could be quite interactive. The nisei gogo boy I've been obsessing over actually guided my shy hand to the adventurous regions. So yeah, I could see Lagoa taking a small further step. That said, I'm not as optimistic about any expanded talent pool. A modicum of ability is required, and a lame-dancing stripper can be downright cock-wilting. Maybe forget the dancing and turn it into an amateur grope-a-thon? Sex industries might also be culturally determined. Just as I can't imagine any other country fully replicating the peak Brazilian sauna scene, maybe lap dancing won't translate to a country where far more services can be had for decades now.
  14. Did you ever been to the altitude of Bogota? I've been and left after a few days because I couldn't handle the altitude. It's only 250 meters higher than CDMX, but that was a world of difference to me. Something to take into concideration.
  15. I am planning a long trip to Colombia besides Bogota planning to visit Cartagena, Santa Marta and Medellin ,Did you visit there as well ? Your experience with the local guys and gay nightlife was beyond expectations as well ?
  16. My 1-week experience in Bogotá, Autumn 2019, was stellar enough to keep it on my bucket repeat list, from penthouse price to sights to transport app to food to hires. Beyond expectations; it might have set the bar high for an eventual return.
  17. So just for note -- as gay men we know that often opposites attract. Hairy bodies are unusual in Colombia -- that becomes a fetish. Visit Dark Club in Bogota on a Friday and tell me I am wrong. I find there is also a strong "older man" fetish with many, but I would not state that as a "fact" within the country. Point being that you can find interested parties -- but there is not a community demanding your presence. There will always be a core group of young men that want to fuck other men that look exactly like themselves. Colombia is a progressive country that is still finding it's identify. This is why I am so dedicated to their success. But let's not draw assumptions based on small data samples, please.
  18. For international travellers to Colombia, you need to activate the CoronApp on your phone when you present yourself at customs for entry to the country. This is a formality as well for all flights within the country, asking you a series of Covid-19 symptom-related questions. That survey generates a QR code to be shown at flight check-in and customs. Is gay nightlife back to normal? Sort of. There are many businesses and clubs that have re-opened, however you will find many smaller businesses have changed their format to reflect a post-pandemic reality. Vaccination rates in Colombia are still relatively low, which reflects the limited public health access many Colombians deal with. You will find that the major clubs (Theatron in Bogota, Gigolo Show Bar in Bogota, Industry in Medellin, City Club in Cartagena, etc.) have all resumed regular business hours. Most of the saunas and massage services are also back to normal as well.
  19. I started to think that I was the only one on the Latin board. The amount of boys that are looking for someone older is stunning, and unlike popular belief most are not money boys. I often discuss this with a friend, one thing they usually have incoming is the lack of a father figure in their life. I don't see this a lot in Europe. I also think it's about location. How many boys didn't I turn down when in Asia or Mexico...I would take them in a heartbeat back home. This more or less touches the point you are making, but would I pay that $150 in Bogota? Yes, if there was nothing else to be had, but there are so many to choose from that "overpaying" is not needed. Also, I assume that this guy you are talking about was an absolute 10 in your taste of men. Would he only charge $150 in the US? One thing that I love about Latin America, as opposed to many Asian countries that I frequent, is the boy's freedom of entry without a visa into Europe. I might have a week in November where I have a boy from Mexico come over. Sadly enough, this doesn't go for Cubans.
  20. Another consideration is the price. I contacted a guy on Twitter in Bogota 3 years ago, he quoted USD 150 per meeting in Bogota. He is a 30 something gym toned average looking brown guy. I did not follow up because I am not interested in paying American price when I travel to Colombia. But I am sure some fellow Americans will pay. I personally know someone who paid a gorgeous BelAmi type guy from Czech Republic to come meet him in the U.S., with all travel expense paid. Money talks.
  21. Gigolo Erotic House (Bogotá) rehearsal(?), or Club Point 202 (Rio) solo feature … both operating: [about one minute in length] FullSizeRender.mov
  22. Greetings! May I suggest that the business listings for Gay Businesses in Colombia expand to include: - Medellin - Cali - Bucaramanga as these are the next most important cities after the Capital (Bogotá)? I would be happy to set up the major business listings to get things started.
  23. RIP Club Tobi . I hope it reopens in time somewhere, although that building was perfect. I met some of the best-looking muscle guys anywhere there for $18/hr just 3 years ago. The 57A seedy hustler bars will probably return after the pandemic but I never met anyone there worth seeing in 2 trips to Medellin. It's not an international city as much as Bogota but it does have the big luxury tourist area of Poblado with gay cruising in the central park. Also 1/4 of the guys on Chaterbate seem to be in Medellin in group sex shows and are eager to meet. Medellin guys are extremely attractive (as anyone in Bogota will tell you). But without pre-made arrangements too risky. What of Puerto Vallarta?
  24. Medellin has a small block (Calle 57A) of hustler bars with a sex hotel with rainbow flag on the north side. The guys in Medellin are generally much better looking than in Bogota and half the price or less, but this block attracts the only ugly guys in Medellin somehow. I think the Definitive Columbia thread here still has photos. In spite of hot guys and perfect weather, Medellin is mostly worth it over Bogota if Club Tobi is open.
