Planet Romeo Instructions for use

Recommended Posts

Join the Club. The 'new' Planet Romeo is a disaster. I complained about it for years, and got nowhere. I carried on with Classic till the end. For escorts you have to use Hunkz, which is also a disaster.  I have talked to escorts who say they can't use it either, and have lost business.  However PR management take no notice. However I have found plenty of guys in Bangkok on Grindr!

Until recently I used PR in the classic mode, however that is not now available and the new version confuses me - it’s complicated. Does anyone know of any instructions for use ?. I’m in Pattaya shortly and will want to use it to contact boys.

I'm in Pattaya now, slim pickings on Romeo and many lady boys on Grindr.... maybe many guys went home for Chinese New Year coming this weekend??

My suggestion is to download the Planet Romeo app onto your phone.  That is simple and intuitive.   It's the only way I access Planet Romeo in Thailand.

Incidentally, both Grindr and Hornet have more boys, although Planet Romeo has by far the best app.

The new PR is more suitable for tablets and phones. Make sure you switch on the "radar" so that you are restricted to local guys. Your geographical location must be correctly defined.Check the filter opportunities  so that your numbers-quota (the choices that are screened) is restricted to the type of guy you are interested in. You don't want to waste valuable profiles on ageing falangs like myself!  Here in Jomtien, i can access guys up to five miles plus away.

I too didn't like it at first but now I believe it to be an improvement on Classic. By the way it is very similar to hornet, if you use that. Come to think of it, it's now faster.

I also was upset when they Killed Off the Classic Romero. But I am using the Windows versions on my Desktop PC and find it very good!! You do have to click back and forth between Pages. And being on a Desktop I cannot use the Web Cam part.

Now I have just installed it on my Tablet. In preparation for my trip to the PH. I had a difficult time locating the App on Google Play. I think they do not promote it? The name there is not "PlanetRomeo", it is just "Romeo".

A number of the Guys in the PH use LINE. But PlanetRomeo is still the best for meeting Pinoy guys!!!

I use PR on my IPad which is easier for navigating and typing messages than my IPhone. it would usually be in my hotel that I would be searching rather than when I was out and about. I think need to upgrade my membership for when I’m in Thailand so as to focus on whom I’m looking for, namely boys 18-25, rather than ageing Falangs like myself. There is no way of filtering out ladyboys I suppose ?

on radar I would have thought that this would only display members who are online and in your location, but on the photos there are little dots - red and green - does this indicate online/offline? Also there are red “fire” symbols. What do they mean ?. It seems you have to find out how to use PR by trial and error. It must be even harder for Thais or non English speakers to do this and probably contributes to the low number of members in my target range.

All of the apps have  FREE age filter.    Planet Romeo also has FREE filters for height, mass and online status.

Outside of Pattaya, hardly any Thai boys use Planet Romeo.   Since it is the best app for functionality,  I suppose we should be thankful that it's still popular there and perhaps we should use it in preference to other apps.

It's easy to learn how to use the app by trial and error.  Filters have the slider icon in the bottom right corner.  Everything else is fairly obvious after trying it.

As for the other apps, none are perfect:

Grindr frequently needs restarting and has poor free functionality

Hornet uses a vast amount of data.  Currently 10x that of Grindr for the last 10 days and I have met all my lads off Grindr and Blued.  Extrapolated, it would use 45% of my 3GB data package.

Blued has some free filters.  However, it has features I don't want, like one to send pictures which disappear.  The boys use this.  As one other member says, whoever invented that should be strung up by the balls.  Also video calling.

Planet Romeo will most likely die out due to a lack of users, even though it is the best app.

Hornet- or at least its free version- has further limited the amount of info available on the guys. Sometimes it is almost non-existent. Often there is only one photo- a recipe for disappointment. The only free filters are  for age and race. I'd suggest that Romeo has taken over from hornet in terms of ease of use and the  extent of the location.. And the reason is that hornet has marketed its premium version so aggressively.

I have been having problems with a "disconnected" error on Grindr when trying to send messages.  I receive messages OK and every other app works.

A quick piece of google research shows other users have the same issue and that I should disconnect the wifi and use mobile data.   Problem solved.   Unfortunately I prefer to use the hotel wifi due to horrific data consumption by Hornet.
