Also on 1500 baht a day you would only get 1 drink, 1 boy short time(probably very short) and maybe you would have enough for an off fee. But you could not eat and you would have to sleep in the street. I don't drink alcohol and rarely go into expensive GoGo bars. Food costs me around 300 - 400 baht a day about 150 baht a day on Dongtan or Silver Sands Hotel Pool at Jomtien Beach Road and maybe 300 baht plus tip for a massage every 3 or 4 days over the month I stay in Pattaya. Maybe an off from a bar once in the trip. Because of health issues most nights I am in bed by 10pm. On my last trip I averaged 900 baht a day spending money and had a really enjoyable time. After 30 or more trips to Thailand, I find the only thing it has.to offer are the cute willing boys at low prices. Restaurants are better and cheaper in the USA. Supermarkets same unless you are into nothing but Thai food which I am not. Roads are way better where I live and for my taste the weather is better. And at over 65 my medical care is basically free which it definitely would not be in Thailand. My long time friends are all in the USA. I save my money for my regular Thai trips. I think your budget of 1500 baht per day is serious economy. I probably spend nearly three times this amount and like you my alcohol intake is very limited. Boy tips are a big item as I like one in my bed most nights and Im quite generous. I suppose bearing in mind the cost of flights and accommodation I could have cheaper sex at home, but like firecat Im addicted to cute Thai boys. If being in Thailand on a budget caused me to be unhappy I wouldn't come to Thailand again. I love to travel, I love to see my ex-pat friends in Pattaya and I love the freedom of not having to shop or cook or look after my apartment at home for a month. My last trip in February the highlight was having sex with my beautiful sexy boy from Madagasca. I had 4 or 5 great massages one massage with a guy who robbed me. I have no desire to have a long time with a guy I lose interest very shortly after I have ejaculated. Edit: because of pre-existing medical conditions my annual medical travel insurance is now over £2000.00 per year which gives me multiple trips of up to 30 days which must start and end in the UK. Otherwise I would spend more than my usual 28 days in Thailand each trip and save on the air fares. Everyone's idea of a good time is different and everyone's circumstances are different. Since you are a UK person getting out of the cold and rain is a big benefit of your travel.. Most times the weather is a negative in Thailand compared to my home. I would love to have that hop skip and a jump plane ride that you have where as mine can be 3x the length depending on connections. I would never be happy coming to Thailand , keeping your schedule even if money was not a consideration.. Thus when traveling other parts of the world , I have much less boy contact and am willing to pay the higher rates for someone special. This trip I am on now will last 35 days and I will see 6 boys and spend approx. $800 US . The focus of the trip is not SEX and without the overnight I would spend less then $500. My trips to Thailand, the focus is definitely SEX and I budget 2500 baht a day for expenses related to boys. My trips are all 30-60 days the last 5 years to Thailand. Thus each trip to Thailand I spend anywhere from $2500 - $5000 for just boys . Taken in that context a splurge of 300 Euros for a boy that meets all my criteria and I can have an intelligent conversation with does not seem exorbitant to me. Since I don't speak Thai I find it very rare that I can have an intelligent conversation with a Thai money boy. There gay life focussed on a section of the beautiful beach and the large area of sun dunes, where gays went for sex despite the efforts of the police. There was an area of bars and clubs called the Yumbo Centre, which was also gay, and where rent boys were available. I found no difficulty in finding young boyfriends, although of course I was better looking in those days. It is only 4.5 hour flight from the UK and accommodation costs are modest. The beach is superb as is the climate. However Ive never been back since and instead I make an arduous 24 hour journey to Pattaya, where the beach is poor, and the climate is humid and too hot. Met a local guy I knew from before 2-3 years for 3 hours in the evening on the day I arrived. Then for almost 24 hours on Fri night till early evening Saturday. First meeting was just romp in bed. Second started with a nice dinner, back to room, out to a club, back to room. Next day late brunch, a bit of sightseeing, back to room. Kind of limited time boyfriend experience plus more sex $500 total plus meals. The hotel was in Levent - more of a business area with easy access to the touristy stuff. No problem with taking him to the room and spending a night. Hotel staff are discreet. The hotel is a 5* international chain - remember having to pay a receptionist at a Turkish owned hotel a few years ago for the guest to visit me. Hotel Costs - Decent rooms in the 1000~1500 baht range, maybe less if you search out the best budget places. Entertainment Cost - Pattaya has long time for 1500 baht, or just slightly more. Entertainment Quality 1. Large number of massage shops which offer a good average level of service & all you have to do is walk in through the door to get it. For comparison, here are some examples of what's on offer in my home country: Masseur 1: The 1 hour massage was of poor quality and was over within less than 40 minutes. No repeat business. Masseur 2: Advertises occasionally and has his own website. He's never bothered replying to any of my e-mails, text messages or phone calls, so I have never had a massage there. Considering his location, I would be very surprised if he is booked up solid. My e-mails ask something like " Hi. I would like to book a 90 minute massage. Please could you tell me when you are free?", so that should not set off the alarm bells. Thailand is so much easier. Walk into a shop & get what is usually a great massage. Entertainment Quality 2 Thailand has proper gogo bars. In all of Europe, the nearest I have found might be Escape in Prague, where you only get the larger muscular boys & it's not to my liking. Entertainment Quality 3 Thai boys have a great attitude. They usually provide decent service and are unlikely to try to change their terms or prices once they are in your room -if they do it's in the form of a polite request, rather than harassing the client. In Europe there is much more variation. The best are pleasant honest reliable types who do everything they say they will do, are pleasant to talk to and are delighted to stick to any agreed fee. The worst are scammers who are unpleasant and have the objective of doing nothing & asking for more than the originally agreed fee just to leave the room. Even if something did not work which happens rarely but it does money wasted or underutilized for that reason is easier to digest. Be it noisy / dirty hotel , underperforming go-go or masseur not sticking to agreed time money wasted this way is extremely rare and still it is easier to digest validating those long treks in silver tube 10km in the skies. The countryside in Ireland is as beautiful as anywhere in the world. The people are friendly and we have been blessed with mostly good weather except for some wind on the Cliffs of Mohr. Mostly small towns but last 2 days in Galway which is a pretty good sized city. I have to say the eye candy has been just spectacular. From wavy hair Irish boys to Blonde short haired jocks it has been some of the cutest boys I have ever seen. Unfortunately they are not on any of the Gay Social Media sites etc. Back to Madrid for 1 night on Saturday where I have a couple of possibilities set up. We'll see what happens.
