I wish I could agree. Yes its modern and well appointed but room and desk are postcard size and I find it overpriced big time . But as floridarob says I'm room size queen.

I can testify to it, on few occasions I saw you admiring Patpong 1 and Patpong 2 architectural landmarks -

Great idea ! -
taxi stopped on the street would take you there for 500 at best if not less ( meter from Silom is around 300 , plus tolls 70-80). No 50 baht airport fee if going TO the airport as far as I know. Just saying as I understand convenience of taxi waiting and ready Waiting for your word about the trip

Grief , sorrow and consolation. Trip to Bangkok in November of 2024.

That's very doubtful achievement. Next time we are there at the same time I must drag you there, perhaps with suitable buy as my trip to Wat Po and Grand Palace with one of our members and S is one of my trip memories I cherish the most -
probably no but such ' overhead" expense at that price range can't amount to much. I did not pursue that purchase, just quote what I was told by my guide.

In my case it was Jey Spa masseur of top quality who suggested overnighter at that price and did not yield when I tried to bargain. I'm still not 100% sure I did right thing rejecting his offer but for sure my wallet is. I still rather spent that much on Thai escort than comparable amount , even if bit less, on escort in the West who certainly would be watching time and I doubt it will go overnight for 300 USD, lets get real.

and low cost booze. Hope fully that tragedy will teach them something . Cheap price buys cheap meat as they say in Uruguay.

actually room I had at Red Planet was not that small and it was quite easy to fit us all three in. I know what you mean though as when I sty there previously my room was undersized indeed but not this time luckily. -

by virtue of being good day, no need for contrast with bad one -
specially if you take shortcut by Soi Wat Hualampong passing by Magic Touch massage and Rose hotel before hitting Suriwong across from Siam Heritage hotel

good idea, he already fucked up Twitter

Not good piece of propaganda above . This engine looks like model from fifties fitting for some side lines in Africa or Latin America not for world's superpower. All the same like Trump himself.

Good for you ! For me their rates all are ridiculous premium but I'm cheap skate when comes to accommodation and probably on much lower income level too. At the same time I haste to say I understand people who like to treat themselves and splurge on something better, after all it put our hard earned money at work

The origins and allure of Thailand’s famous Walking Streets
vinapu replied to reader's topic in The Beer Bar
actually Pattaya made some progress toward that noble goal and post covid Walking Street is not as much in-your-face as it used to be in better days. -
wherever you exit customs are and you are back on freedom ( there are two exits so on one you turn right , another one turn left ), you go down escalators or elevator to lowest level. You will see green carpeted slope - it's leading to the railway station . To the left you will see some kiosks with soft drinks, selling SIM cards and most important -exchanging money. Rates there are only minimally worse than at XOne on Suriwong so feel to exchange money there, as much as you want / need. You can buy train ticket in machines or there's ticket window. There's you chance to change that 1000 note into smaller denomination. It costs 45 baht and in 25 minutes you are in civilisation. There are 2 ways of getting to Silom area : 1/ go all the way to last station -Phaya Thai which is connected to BTS station of the same name , take train in direction of Kheha and 2 stations later cross the platform and take train going to Bang Wa. Alight on either 2nd (Sala Daeng) or third (Chong Nonsi) station depending of hotel you are staying and either march , walk or stroll to your destination. 2/ alight from the train at Makkasan station and using covered walkway go to Phetchaburi MRT station . Take train going in direction Silom - Hualampong. $th station is Silom across the park or next one Sam Yam by Wat Halampong which is bit closer to many hotels including Tarntawan. Don't worry about your luggage , you are strong man, there are escalators everywhere an your suitcase has a wheels. Going in reverse direction I's take only route 1/ as sometimes train is very crowded on Makkasan which is 2nd station on the way to airport. Certainly it was case on , Saturday week ago when I was heading to airport at 4 and people in Makkasan were squeezing and elbowing to get in which I watched from comfort of my seat. Trains run 6-24 so at night taxi is your only option.

The origins and allure of Thailand’s famous Walking Streets

yes but calling it officially "national treasure " seems go against verbalized policy of making Pattaya family friendly destination -
I'm pretty sure that most of them find the way of circumventing that 25% legislation

just general comment , while post covid hotel prices were really giveaways, those days Bangkok hotels are catching up by rising their prices considerably . I usually don't aspire to staying in 4 or 5 stars but even budget hotels seem to hit price levels never seen before.

while at first look it amounts to exploitation and in fact it is indeed, we need to consider that Myanmarese and other foreigners treated that way may not necessary share that view. When they repatriate portion of their earnings to families at home it may turn out that purchasing power of that remittance there is much higher than it would be in source country. As example - when I was in Myanmar back on 2001, in Mandalay I was shown decent looking , free standing home and was informed that it can be mine for 2000 or 3000 $. While no doubt prices went up since , difference in purchasing power still exists.

Day 8 , last After my guy left I had good sleep till late morning , them went for breakfast and returned to the room to pack up. Earlier I asked about the option of late check out as my plane leaves at 7.pm but I was told by lady who seemed to be in charge that there are no rooms available. Considering that other guy , manning laptop in the lobby seemed sympathetic to my query and I notice strange grimaces sent his way by said lady I think they simply did not want to bother. No problem although it would be nice to have room till , say 4 pm. I found solution, left my bag on reception and went to soi 6 to have massage at Maha with diminutive hunk there , Nut. Great , no rush session. At 3 pm my last chicken and rice soup at Foodland, minutes later reader joined me for latest gossip and he walked me to mouth of Convent Road here we had our good bye hugs hoping to see each other very soon. Train to the airport was very crowded but no surprise there considering it was peak hours. At 7 something pm my Gulf Air A321 took off on its way to Bahrain with me inside waving good bye to Thailand for 36th time. In sharp contrast with September this time I was leaving with bleeding heart. Considering what brought me there I was in need of something uplifting and this time guys delivered , one after another. Even bump mid trip with underdelivering Banana guy, mostly on time , was not that painful. Who would think that my best guy will be from Jupiter ? Even now , week later I’m kind of amazed . And I still have my sights on another hunk from there, one who mildly pissed me by not confirming his tips with smile but I’m not giving up on him for two reasons, first he was recommended to me by forum friend I absolutely trust judgment of, second because he looked much better in flesh than on pics and clips I saw of him before .So it looks for my next trip whenever it will be I have my homework already assigned , I’m not giving up that easy. I’m glad that Handsome Cambodian with whom I have long history of offs , not all of the happy – once he dumped me after I complained about his constant surfing on his phone , looked happy and somewhat settled. I have soft spot for him because of his troubled , early orphaned life. Chai, new discovery in Arena was joyful and I cherish sense of achievement of finally being engaged with #10 from Moonlight and #31 from Banana I pursued for some time. Very uplifting fact that all bar one of boys I known previously bar that I engaged this trip performed , I must say even better than previously. No games , no stupid excuses ( I overlook last night because I have feeling it was not malicious ). Only think I feel sense of missing was another meeting with Y from Moonlight but simply our schedules did not align. Those familiar with my report perhaps notice one , so far always present , thing missing - absence of visit to Tawan. Yes it was on design. I still love bar and it’s boys dearly but this time I was in no mood to partake in their constant ‘ tip, tip, tip “ requests. Even when I had chance meeting with K on that famous corner , he immediately raised his shirt and asked for ‘ tip for eating “. I wish them well and hope to visit in the future but this time I gave them a miss and I ‘m glad I did. How far I went from days when my trips were on Tawan monodiet ? But not my fault. Life is strange thing. One week you attend your best , lifelong, friend’s funeral, next you have week of your life and one of best of my many trips to LOS. I love you life !
