@Keithambrose Good ol' Lord Hailsham of Broome v Cassell fame and his searing chastisement of the maverick Lord Denning for directing trial judges to disregard binding precedent. Remember that? 😅 Favourite quote from His Lordship: You ought not be ashamed of being bored. What you ought to be ashamed of is being boring. Some members of the forum could well take heed. 😏

Actually, I was last in Pattaya in 2020! I have no idea who number 69 is or if there is a number 69. 😅 Pattaya is my least favourite Thai city but you guys are tempting me to give it another shot with your updates. I also get live reports when I chat on cam with Thai friends and can see quite clearly what's happening on the beach, the city, the nightlife venues, etc, not to mention the social media overload. Plus we've got direct flights from KUL to UTP three times a week...

Neither. It's number 69 from X-boys. 😉

Dead vs alive...very subjective in Pattaya.

My friends have made their booking and paid RM8 extra (about 62 Baht) for breakfast for two. I think it's a good deal overall. Thanks to everyone who provided constructive feedback.

Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, has died.

It's beautiful, with a blue theme which was Her Late Majesty's colour. Govt updates royal crematorium plans for the Queen Mother MONDAY, JANUARY 26, 2026 https://www.nationthailand.com/news/general/40061712 -
He didn't. The thread was bumped up last Friday when Olddaddy posted on it.

Of course. Your Bette Davis act brings the house down every time. 😏 PS That's Bette Davis as Baby Jane Hudson. 😉

Boyz Boyz Boyz? It's a host bar with shows now. I find several of the hosts very attractive but the space inside is quite crammed and they allow smoking in the bar. 🤒🤢🤮

Yup, it's great having Foodland nearby! I don't bother with breakfast buffets either, not unless they come with the room. I don't go to buffets generally as I eschew excess and can't eat that much anyway. And when on holiday travelling I tend to get up late and by the time I get up, shower and get dressed breakfast would usually be over. My breakfast is usually something savoury/eggs, a piece of toast, fruit and coffee. More than enough for me to start the day.😊 Lately I've been doing intermittent fasting and forgone breakfast altogether. 💪

Thanks for sharing your experiences at Raya, @macaroni21. My friends are fellow Malaysians but I don't think one's nationality or ethnicity necessarily determines one's food choices, especially when travelling. That would be akin to saying that all Black Americans like fried chicken and watermelon and must have them wherever they go. 😏 Even religion is not necessarily a determinant; some are strict adherents, some aren't. No, they aren't Muslims but one is a vegetarian. I checked with them and they're happy with the options that you guys have shared. Besides, one can't ask for too much at that very special price!

Only when they forget to bring their dentures. 😏

The Ambiance Hotel has shows?
-
Thanks, vinapu. For $3 for two, "sufficient" sounds great! Buffet seems to cover all the basics and I can't imagine my friends being big eaters anyway.
-
I see this hotel receives generally positive reviews from our esteemed members and I've suggested it to friends of mine who are new-ish to Bangkok. They like the location and it's within their budget. They told me that for a couple of hundred Baht more they could get breakfast with the room. Any feedback about the breakfast buffet and anything else worth knowing about the hotel would be most welcome. I did tell them that no visit to Patpong and Silom Soi 4 would be complete without paying homage to Guido's pussy and they've promised to give it a few strokes. 😉

That's uncanny. My Aunty Vin says the exact same thing. In fact she has those very words splashed across her tote bag which she brings everywhere.

To heal a burnt tongue from eating spicy or hot foods, try having something with a high fat content, for example, full cream milk, yogurt, cottage cheese or ice-cream. The fat would help coat the burn. A teaspoonful of honey could also work.

What it was like to pilot the supersonic Concorde jet
mauRICE replied to daydreamer's topic in The Beer Bar
A sensation I'm sure many a forum member could relate to following a night's visit to Patpong. 😏 -
Lots? Considering that there aren't many twins to begin with - and I imagine fewer still would be into group sex with each other - that's quite amazing! But then I concede that your social circus (no typo there) is probably a lot more vibrant than mine. 😏

She's been home for a while now, thanks for asking @jimmie50. The flu is totally gone and she's a lovely, active kitty who's growing up very fast. She's playful and has a good appetite. Likes to kick the sand in her litter tray all over which Daddy has to clean up. 😅 Quite a screamer too, like so many of our members here. Sadly, the blindness appears to be permanent and doc suspects it might due to an ulcer she had from birth. Nevertheless, doc says she is healthy and can lead a normal life. I'm slowly acclimatising her to her environment and I have a feeling she's going to be a tall one as she's got long legs. She starts to scream when I enter the room but stops immediately when I pick her up for a cuddle. She loves to be held and likes to lick my face. I think she thinks I'm her mother. 😅 When she's a bit bigger I'm going to put her with a surrogate, an affectionate, timid, older female cat that I have who loves taking care of the younger ones. I love them to bits. 🫶

How does one tell the difference? 🤷

Yup and I'm glad spoon stood his ground. But will it alter Jupiter's mindset and make them begin to appreciate the concept of fostering and maintaining customer goodwill? No, because they know from experience that some wuss will come along and succumb to their gauging tactics. To them, no customer is indispensable - perhaps one could take a leaf from their book and learn that no bar and bar-boy is indispensable. There are plenty of fish in the sea; remember that the customer is the fisherman who throws the bait, hooks and reels them in. Not the other way around.

The hair on the head is permed; down under it's sper... (hint: it's an alliteration).
