They brought in Gurkhas when they heard Olddaddy was coming to town.

Some good news. My friend and her elderly father have been rescued and taken to a shelter. Both are fine. But many others are waiting to be rescued or for supplies. Every life is precious and I can't imagine the toll this disaster has taken on the livestock, pets and strays.

But thanks to Pattaya, the dead live again!

These photos were taken by friends who live or are on holiday in Hatyai. My family home and farm are only a two-hour drive away but we're on high ground. The flooding has been going on for five consecutive days affecting 690,000 people in Hatyai alone but Anutin only woke up to the magnitude of this disaster yesterday. Meanwhile, volunteer rescue missions from Malaysia and Singapore have been going in since last Sunday. The upcoming SEA Games events that have been scheduled in Songkhla will likely be relocated to Bangkok and Chonburi. Here's a sample of the kind of messages I've been receiving from friends stranded there. The last bit reads like an excerpt from Anne Frank. 11:28 PM. I'm still sitting at home, waiting for the evacuation boat, along with neighbors in both Soi 11/1 and Soi 12, who are all waiting with hope for a boat to arrive. In Soi 12, especially, even the whistle for help is becoming faint. The whistler must be exhausted. No one in the alley dares to sleep. Everyone is listening carefully for the boat's sound, taking turns waking up to keep an eye out. The water level is now at the top of the stairs, with five steps left to reach the second floor. We're still waiting.

Yes, they eventually found him at Jomtien Complex with a boy on his lap. 💀

Bangkok Post - Immigration police target visitors making multiple visa runs https://share.google/bngmUTZYumHsfRh8E Just a general update. No new specifics other than visitors who have stayed a total of 45 days or more recently would be subjected to greater scrutiny.

I guess it's the only way to stop queens from overreacting. 🤷

I remember now. GayPattayan is the one who had passed away. GayinPattaya is a different guy.
-
That's a name I haven't heard in a long time. I thought he had passed away or am I confusing him with GayPattayan? By the way I don't get the joke. 😅
-
How do you tell the difference?
-
Was there ever any doubt? He's getting plenty of Thai (German?) sausage.

And yet Miss Mexico would like us to believe she really deserves the Miss Universe crown. 😏

The Sam Sen Nai Philatelic Museum? Yes, I mentioned it in the Tighter Visa Exempt Rules thread. I hear the mayor of Bangkok is thinking of renaming it in vinapu's honour.

Quick vocab lesson: I'm a gay top. ผมเป็นเกย์รุก phom bpen gay ruuk Can you bottom? น้องรับได้ไหมครับ nong rab dai mai krab Rab here (pronounced as "rub") literally means to receive. Show him the above or you can do an even quicker "Me-Tarzan-You-Jane" version like this: Point to yourself and say, "phom ruuk". (I'm top.) and affectionately but firmly put your hand on his and ask, "rab dai mai?" (Can you receive?) Notice I didn't use the word "gay" when referring to him at all as it usually doesn't matter in these transactions. It's about what he is willing or not willing to do. Besides, a straight-acting genuinely gay guy would unlikely admit it in front of his friends more so if he's Burmese. And if you're a bottom, just put your hand on the guy's dick and say "You fuck me OK?" It has worked for 99% of the members here. Am I right, vinapu? 😏

They probably spoke Thai. He may be a Myanmar national but chances are he's from Shan state and speaks his ethnic Tai-Yai language which has a lot of similarities with Thai. Depending on how long he's been in Thailand, he might have had very little exposure to Burmese and may well be fluent in Thai. There's also a strong political and cultural resentment to the central Burmese and their language due the longstanding civil war and Shan struggle for autonomy/independence. Next time, try doing an English-Thai-English translation instead.

Didn't Glenda Jackson win two Oscars, before becoming an MP? Women in Love is one of my mum's favourite movies. Does Clint Eastwood as mayor of Carmel count? He did run for office and has won several Oscars, although none for acting.

Tuff Bar? So only butch lesbians are welcome?

I hope he wasn't drink driving. I know of two suicides (one worked at Adam's Apple), one attempted suicide and four fatal drink-driving related accidents this year alone, all involving nightlife workers. All were/are under twenty-five and three were parents. I worry there might me more accidents as the year comes to a close. The two suicide and attempted suicide cases I knew personally; they were/are lovely guys who succumbed to severe depression and excessive drinking. I'm still grieving one of them which might explain why I've been posting and making more cracks than usual lately. Some day, I will write about the darker side of the nightlife industry in Thailand which is far from the benign pony ride that some people would like to make it out to be.

Now you know that's not true. There'll still be plenty of temples for you to visit and the Sam Sen Nai Philatelic Museum will always roll out the red carpet for you. 😏
-
Have the guys offered any reasons as to why they've not attempted to get legal? I know of many nightlife workers from neighbouring countries who are residing and working in Thailand legally. Some had even come in without passports through Thailand's porous borders (or couldn't get one as they were stateless) but eventually went through a legalisation process and obtained a permission to stay and a work permit.
