@bkkmfj2648 made a point in another discussion that the happiest people that he sees in Pattaya are those who are there for part of the year. It made me wonder if he was leaning in that direction in the future. I hope that it works out as well for you @bkkmfj2648 as it has for the other part time Pattaya retirees you were referring to. At the very least, it keeps things fresh. Also, take a look at the Philippines expat subreddit on Reddit. Most of what is posted is about Filipinas, but I think that the issues are going to be same for you as a gay person as most of the straight people on that sub. The stories sound very much like what you hear in Thailand. I think that there are universal challenges in relationships between two people of very different financial backgrounds, with marked age differences, who are also dealing with significant cultural differences as well. One area for less problems is that many Filipinos are very comfortable speaking English. Just a precaution though. Just because you both speak English doesn’t mean that you will always be speaking the same language due to the issues I pointed out above.

However, it only really works with the motorbikes. If there are cars and trucks in the mix, then it gets far more complicated. They can’t maneuver around you so easily, but they also don’t stop either.

I specifically decided to use my non-US passport for entry into Thailand this time. I wasn’t able to use it for the E gates because I had never used it before to enter Thailand. However, in the future, I will be able to use that passport on the E gates, bypassing, hopefully the huge lines.

I have two Japanese style toilet seatbidets in my house, and I love them. Neither one plays music. They really do get you clean and you can usually adjust water temperature, pressure, direction and pulsation (or not). Mine also have a drying function that works well. I use a small amount of toilet paper in the end to make sure everything is clean and dry. I use way less toilet paper than I did before with far better results. I highly recommend them.

There was some weird cult (I know, redundant) whose leader was ingesting silver or gold. She got crazier and sicker and eventually died (unclear if she wasn’t helped by someone who could profit from her death in end).

I went to Hans at 6 am on a Sunday and the place was packed from people partying from Saturday night. I landed early AM and my AirBnB was not available until 1 PM. There was tons of activity going on and there were tons of guys sleeping. There were a lot of guys in their 20s and 30s. I am not exactly in their demographic, but I was way more popular that I expected to be. Quite a few young, fit, muscular guys wanted to bottom for me. There was a couple of guys constantly cleaning, but it was hard for them to keep up honestly. It has been forever since I have been to a gay bath house. I realized after being there for a while how much I dislike the smell of poppers and it gives me a headache. The whole place smelled like poppers. The guys at the front desk were friendly and I did not feel at all unwelcome there. Just my impressions.

My checking account with Schwab (US bank) is free and they refund me ATM fees. So when I’m abroad, I always use that or another bank that is similar with regard to refunding ATM fees. It is easy and works for me. Always withdraw the maximum amount (30,000 Baht), but always have to check which ones allow 30,000 rather than a lower amount.

Politically it might be tricky to add the USA to the list while excluding China and Russia that have far more arrivals than the US. Interestingly, South Korea (number 5 on list of arrivals) is also not on the list. Of the top 5 arrivals countries, only Malaysia is on the current list. And I suspect that Malaysia has far more land arrivals than the other countries.

It might be easier for everyone involved if they arrived together if at all possible.

Taking pictures of children doing everyday activities is one thing. Posting pictures of children online is more complicated and should be approached with caution and respect for the child(ren)‘s privacy and right to be a kid

They do not have any pictures of their therapists. Is there a way to choose ahead of time? Or is it luck of the draw?

I find it interesting that the Chinese version seems to come across more believable as a person writing it. I suspect overtime they will all improve to the point that we can’t really tell.
