  1. Ninh Binh/Tam Coc and Hoi An I took a train to Ninh Binh and a Grab to my accommodation in Tam Coc, Tam Coc Valley Eco Resort. Nice little place in a compound with rooms with direct access to the courtyard/pool area. They had bicycles for free use, so my first afternoon, I explored the surroundings on two wheels, had coffee and crepe by the lake and later for dinner half a spitroasted duck that I couldn’t finish. Next day I had booked a full day tour to see the ancient Imperial temple at Hoa Lu, the newish pagoda at Bai Dinh, the Trang An Tunnel cave system and finally the 500 steps up Lying Dragon Mountain to see the views. On my last day it rained a little. That is perfect running weather for me, so I went for a run around some of the area that I had explored by bike on the first day. There wasn't a lot of activity on Grindr. Mostly other tourists stay in Tam Coc, whereas it seems the locals live in Ninh Binh around 6 km from there. So if you want physical intimacy in Tam Coc, I suggest you bring a date or try a different app than Grindr. A 14 hour night train from Ninh Binh to Danang and then an hour by grab brought me to Hoi An. My sleep on the train was better than I had expected, so before I left the station in Danang I purchased another train ticket for the next leg of my journey to Saigon. Hoi An is a very charming town famous for tailors, leather goods and silk lamps that attracts a lot of visitors. I discovered that a good part of the visitors are day trippers who stay on the coast or in Danang, so mornings and evenings are not so crowded, but still very charming. There is a one hour show every evening, the Hoi an Memories Show. It is an extravaganza of lights, music, fire, water, and hundreds of performers, quite a number of whom are bare chested young men. VID_20260123_201310.mp4 The town has a gay bar, Living colors, and a gay sauna, Rooster. On my first evening there, a Thursday, I tried out the sauna. It is a small place covering three floors. The ground floor has a locker room and showers, next floor up a sauna, a steam room, a jacuzzi and a balcony/smoking area and the last floor has 4 or 5 lockable rooms. I had fun with the one other guest there, a forty-something local and when he left I decided to try out one of the spa treatments on offer. I chose the one hour body scrub at a price of 500k dong from which the entry fee of 150k dong was subtracted. I wasn’t too impressed. I have had body scrubs in hamams in Istanbul that had me almost floating on air as I left the establishments. This was more of a poorly executed massage with the addition of being rubbed down with a scrubbing creme. I hadn’t cum yet, so I also accepted the extras offered, which was basically just a handjob. I tipped 500 k and the therapist seemed pleased with that. I gave the place a second chance on a Sunday early evening. This time there was at least 6 other guests besides me, and I hooked up with two of them, both local, one around my age and one in his thirties. From Grindr I had a hook up with a Brazilian couple in their 40’s and 50’ and some side fun with a local in his 30’s at my rooms (Full Moon Apartments). At the gay bar, Living Colors, I attended karaoke night on friday and drag show (just one queen, but she did well) on saturday and made out with a very cute late 20’s from the Philippines. On Grindr, it seemed that most of the local talent lives in Danang, so I think I will try staying there a few days, if I ever return. I think I may, as I have really enjoyed Vietnam so far. Next and final installment of my Vietnam report will be about Saigon, where I have only been one day so far, but have already had great fun.
  2. Good to know, thanks. Will be leaving February 4, so no time for coffee. Enjoy your trip.
  3. I am currently in Vietnam for the first time and thought I might share some of my impressions with you. First stop was Hanoi for two nights. I arrived just after dark and stayed in the area near the Notre Dame look-alike cathedral. I liked the evening vibes, people eating and walking about outside in the pleasant winter temperatures. Had a bowl of pho and a beer. I had just spent three nights in Bangkok, so I wasn’t exactly starved for sex, so I just had a few chats on Grindr that didn’t go anywhere that evening. Next day, I discovered that Hanoi is not quite as charming by day. The smog is very dense and it has apparently become a permanent condition during the winter months so they should be avoided if you have any respiratory issues. I don’t, so I was happy to walk about for around half a day taking in different sights like the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the Imperial Fortress, Temple of Literature and a couple of lakes and parks. I ended up by the train station where I purchased a ticket for one of the next legs of my journey and then returned to the hotel. Since the previous evening I had chatted with a 40 year old from the Philippines, who had lived in Hanoi and was back to visit for a while. We met for beers and dinner and a few more beers, before going back to my hotel, The Chi Boutique Hotel. Security guy and bell boy looked, but didn’t say anything, so I would characterize the place as joiner friendly. All in all a great date with good conversations and tips about Vietnam and a nice round of sex 😀 Next morning, I was picked up to go on a two night cruise on Halong Bay. It was a very nice cruise on a small boat with four other passengers and six staff. Tour operator is called Indochina Junk. The cruise cost around 600 usd and included meals, guide and activities. I returned to Hanoi for one night after the cruise. My date from my second evening had recommended P6 sauna as a fun place, so I went. I arrived around 6 on a Sunday evening. The place was busy with guys mostly younger than me. Everything is on one floor with a bar, saunas, steam rooms, jacuzzi, a darkish space, a few private rooms and a lounge for smoking. I had lots of fun with foreigners and locals. The local etiquette is a bit funny. The Vietnamese are not shy to touch and grope, but when it comes to doing the deed, they seem to prefer dark places. And no, I don't think it was because they couldn't bear to look at me, cause I did hook up in a lit private room with a cute 30-year-old from Ecuador There is definitely fun to be had in Hanoi from the apps, but if the purpose of your trip is carnal pleasures, there is more fun to be had in Bangkok in my experience.
  4. I second your reccomendation. Visited two days ago on a Sunday evening. Many locals and a good handfull of visitors. Most were younger than me. Had a really good time.
  5. I take pictures of food To me culinary experiences are equally important to sight seeing when I travel.
  6. I was in Tokyo recently. Visited 24 Kaikan Shinjuku 3 times. Had loads of fun. Thanks to @joizy s excellent reporting, I knew excactly where to go when I had time for myself. So check his reviews out in this section and be inspired
  7. The general shitification of the internet seems to have caught up with Grindr as well. In my area, most messages or taps are spam. I still find it usefull when travelling to bigger cities. Last month I was in Bangkok and Taipei and I had more offers than I had time for. I have started using Tinder recently and have had some pleasant meetings and a few hook ups.
  8. I am planning my first visit to Vietnam beginning of next year. Seems there is lots to look forward to. Thanks!
  9. I recently visited Japan and mistakenly put the adress for the letting agency instead of the actual place we had rented on my form. I only realised, when I was in line to process migration, so I didn't change it. There was no issue at all. I think it's just a formality to satisfy the bureaucracy.
  10. Balcony and other bars in Silom Soi 4 are nice places to watch people and get a beer.
  11. IMO, the Sachertorte is the world's most overrated cake. In Vienna where there is an abundance of delicious pastries and cakes, I advise to stay clear of this dry and overpriced piece of confectionery.
  12. I only did three days in a row, before settling into a more slowly paced routine with my regular for five days. You have me beaten by a day already, and it seems there are still days to come
  13. You can buy Doxycyclin over the counter in Thai pharmarcies. I envy your opportunity to live in Thailand for a few years. Enjoy!
  14. I think it is more or less the same against the euro as when I visited 10 months ago and 2 years ago, but I guess you could argue that is strong for a mid-income level country like Thailand.
  15. We almost tripped over a nude guy tanning, as we were making our way to the beach through some shrubbery, so maybe we were in the right spot? We hadn't brought towels, so we just took a stroll with bare feet along the beach. I was charged 1,000 at Soi13In, so next time I will try to arrive at a time when there is a better chance of bang for that buck. Enjoy your trip in two weeks, I would love to go there again soon!
  16. After an action packed three days in Bangkok described elsewhere, I went to Taiwan with my Bangkok FWB for five days and stayed another two on my own. It was my first visit to Taiwan. We had a great time. We stayed at a hotel near Xinbeitou where we could fill the very large tub with water directly from the hot springs. So we enjoyed that for a few days as well as hiking in the nearby Yangmingshan National Park. Hiking up Mount Qixing was a bit challenging, so it is not something I would have liked to do solo. We also stayed a few nights in central Taipei close to Ximen station. We did a half day trip to Tamsui where the Tamsui river meets the sea, visited the Gallery of Fine Arts, Taipei 101 and had a lot of very good food. Sashimi at the fish market, noodles in various kinds of delicious broth, dim sum. Everything was absolutely delicious. Public transportation works really well in Taipei. Just purchase an Easy Card, charge it, and go anywhere on trains, metro and buses. Bolt and Uber work well too, and though there is a lot of traffic it seems to flow and not get as congested as in Bangkok. I didn’t open Grindr or explore other options until I was on my own the last two days. When I did open Grindr, I had more messages than I could handle, but I decided to pay a visit to the Soi 13 In Sauna before exploring those options. It was a weekday and I arrived there around 5 pm, thinking that would be a good time to catch the going home from work crowd. It wasn’t. There were only two other guests when I arrived. One mid-thirties muscular guy, who was not interested in me and another mid-thirties slim guy who was. As forum wisdom has it, you only need one, so I had some fun with the slim guy. I liked the Place. It was clean and well maintained with showers, onsen, steam room and sauna on one floor and a cruising area with plenty of cabins for privacy on another floor. I particularly liked that except for the relatively small dark room, there was enough light to move around safely and comfortably. As I was getting ready to leave around 630 pm, activity was picking up considerably. A lot of mid- to late-twenties guys started to show up, so I guess the office crowd works later than I had assumed. I had already gotten what I came for and I was hungry, so I didn't stay to explore the possibilities that showed up as I was leaving. After dinner, I had a Grindr hook up with another slim mid-thirties bottom. He came by my hotel. Cho Hotel 3, nice little place with hostel vibes, visitor friendly. The next day, I had an early start when a local staying in a nearby hotel invited me for a quickie before he had to check out. He was late-thirties with a lean/toned body and we had a very nice round af sex. I did some more sightseeing and was in contact with a mid-twenties small twinkish bottom. We agreed to meet early evening. He was very passionate and we explored several positions. All in all, I really enjoyed Taipei/Taiwan. Interesting sights, great food, and more than enough opportunities to hook up.
  17. I had a great time in Palermo around three years ago. I think i spend 5 days there. I found the city to be noisy, smelly and crowded, but I still loved it. For a quieter time I reccomend a day trip to Cefalu. There is a gorgeous Norman cathedral there and a crowded (I was there in June) beach. I had 4 hook ups through Grindr and a few hours of fun in the small sauna. I also got catfished twice. More or less the same way both times. Someone pretending to be younger would chat with me, we would agree on meeting and when I arrived to where we were supposed to meet , I was blocked and the next minute someone older very close by would contact me.
  18. Thanks @joizy, I really enjoy your Italian adventures. Looking forward to learning more about Napoli, as it has been on my bucket list for a while.
  19. I am reasonably fit for my age, but not sculpted or anything like that. I consider myself quite average, but more than a few Asians have called me handsome, so I guess I fit the mold of what many Asian guys find handsome. I usually wear a collared shirt and chinos or shorts that are more city than beachy. That also seems to play into the Farang Fantasy sometimes
  20. I am out and use face pictures on my profile and make sure I see theirs before meeting. If you take a photo in the app there is a Grindr water mark added to it. I usually let them initiate contact.
  21. Just the early twenties guy who asked for a 1000 b tip and the masseur. All other hook ups were non-transactional. I put "No MB please at the beginning of my bio". I pay my regular's fare, hotel and board when travelling with him, but he doesn't expect anything beyond that.
  22. I must admit I surprised myself
  23. Day two I managed to catch 10 hours of sleep so goodbye jetlag! I had no specific plans, considered trying out the 1-0 Sauna, but Grindr kept me very busy. First meet up was with a twinkish mid-30’s guy from Myanmar. We met in Lumpini Park for a chat and a walk and then went to my hotel for two rounds of good sex. After we said goodbye, I went out for a coffee, a walk, and a bit of shopping in and around Silom. I came by Patpong Road as they were setting up the stalls for the Night Market. I thought it was quite a well choreographed spectacle and I am including a video as I suspect some of you are night owls or vampires who may never get a chance to see it with your own eyes While I was out and about, I was in communication with early twenties guy from yesterday and he agreed to come over again after work. We had another round of good sex and exchanged whatsapp numbers in the hope that we may meet again next time I am in town. A few hours later I had another hook up that was arranged earlier in the day. This time a late 30’s Thai guy. Also very good sex. All of that copulating had given me a nice appetite, so I had a nice deep fried fish and a side of stir fried spinach at Patpong Night Market. After dinner I had a beer at Balcony bar in Soi 4. The street was slowly warming up for the evening and I considered watching the 9 pm show at Circus. However, someone I have been meeting everytime I have been in Bangkok and who is joining me on some of my onward journey, asked me if I wanted to meet this evening already, instead of the evening after as we had previously agreed. He came over and my day was concluded with another round of sex and a sleepover. Day three Sleepover guy had to leave early for work and we agreed to meet again for dinner. In the meantime, the weather forecast was predicting thunderstorms, so I decided to spend the day in and around the hotel. Went to the Gym, had a swim in the pool and did some reading by the pool. I didn’t feel the urge to check Grindr until mid afternoon, but somehow managed to secure two hook ups before dinner. One early thirties Thai guy who impressed me by coming two times in a very short span of time and one early thirties Laos guy, who was all right, but the least memorable of my meets so far. Met my regular for dinner at Khao-So-i Soi Convent Silom. They serve excellent North Thai/Laotian noodles in a thick broth and we also had some very nice dumplings and some Thai desserts, that I don't remember the names of. We went back to the hotel for another sleepover before our journey onwards to Taiwan the next day. Maybe I will continue the trip report in the Taiwan section. Once again Bangkok delivered as my first stop in South East Asia and as a destination in its own right. VID_20251006_155022.mp4
  24. I have only started exploring SE Asia a few years ago, but from my two trips so far (this being the third) where Bangkok has been the anchor at the beginning and at the end of the trip, I have come to the conclusion that Bangkok is the perfect first stop for me. Day one Arrived early morning, no queues at the migration desk. I had completed the digital arrival card, but was not asked to show any documentation, so I assume it was in the database along with my fingerprints from previous visits. Stayed at the Quarter Saladaeng. Nice location. Smallish room, even though I had booked a junior suite. Gym and pool with changing facilities I could use while they were getting my room ready. Decent breakfast with egg station and freshly cooked Asian options and not so interesting industrial grade Western options. Visitor friendly, and no key card required for the lift, which was very convenient since I had a couple of repeat hook ups and a regular from previous visits. After freshing up, I set out on an expedition of grooming and massage with happy ending. I found a nearby nail salon where I had a manicure and a pedicure. Next stop was S’Sense for a two hour hot oil massage. Massage was excellent as always and extras was the best body-to-body massage I have experienced so far. The Masseur very skilfully used his thighs and buttocks to make it feel almost like intercourse though there was no actual penetration. I can share his name in a message if anyone is interested. He didn’t mention a minimum tip when he offered the body to body massage, but he seemed pleased with the 2000 I gave him and proceeded to give me an extra head and neck massage after I tipped him. Came back to the hotel to get my room that was now ready and opened Grindr. Back home, Grindr is practically broken, with 60-70 percent of taps and messages seeming to come from fake profiles, scammers or alleged Only Fans content creators. Not so in Bangkok! I got plenty of messages from genuine guys who wanted to meet me. So late afternoon/early evening I had a visit from an early twenties twinkish top who just got off work. While we chatted he requested a tip of 1000 and I agreed. He wanted to come directly to my room, but as a precaution I met him outside. I didn’t have to, he was even cuter than his photo. We had a nice round of sex and agreed to keep in touch for a possible rematch the day after. I had a nice early dinner at Mango Tree and some mango sticky rice on my way back to the hotel where I laid down to have a good long night’s sleep to hopefully cure my jetlag.
  25. Very usefull report, thanks! Is the bar below Paradise, POC Lounge, still there? When I was in PP it seemed the masseurs from Paradise hang out there in the evenings and make pleasant comapny if you buy them a few drinks. They had a decent Drag show and a host of very young looking and skinny dancing boys. I am not sure if the later did any trade, but they did fit the bill of young and twinky, so they may also be working in paradise?
