I only did three days in a row, before settling into a more slowly paced routine with my regular for five days. You have me beaten by a day already, and it seems there are still days to come

You can buy Doxycyclin over the counter in Thai pharmarcies. I envy your opportunity to live in Thailand for a few years. Enjoy!

I think it is more or less the same against the euro as when I visited 10 months ago and 2 years ago, but I guess you could argue that is strong for a mid-income level country like Thailand.

We almost tripped over a nude guy tanning, as we were making our way to the beach through some shrubbery, so maybe we were in the right spot? We hadn't brought towels, so we just took a stroll with bare feet along the beach. I was charged 1,000 at Soi13In, so next time I will try to arrive at a time when there is a better chance of bang for that buck. Enjoy your trip in two weeks, I would love to go there again soon!

After an action packed three days in Bangkok described elsewhere, I went to Taiwan with my Bangkok FWB for five days and stayed another two on my own. It was my first visit to Taiwan. We had a great time. We stayed at a hotel near Xinbeitou where we could fill the very large tub with water directly from the hot springs. So we enjoyed that for a few days as well as hiking in the nearby Yangmingshan National Park. Hiking up Mount Qixing was a bit challenging, so it is not something I would have liked to do solo. We also stayed a few nights in central Taipei close to Ximen station. We did a half day trip to Tamsui where the Tamsui river meets the sea, visited the Gallery of Fine Arts, Taipei 101 and had a lot of very good food. Sashimi at the fish market, noodles in various kinds of delicious broth, dim sum. Everything was absolutely delicious. Public transportation works really well in Taipei. Just purchase an Easy Card, charge it, and go anywhere on trains, metro and buses. Bolt and Uber work well too, and though there is a lot of traffic it seems to flow and not get as congested as in Bangkok. I didn’t open Grindr or explore other options until I was on my own the last two days. When I did open Grindr, I had more messages than I could handle, but I decided to pay a visit to the Soi 13 In Sauna before exploring those options. It was a weekday and I arrived there around 5 pm, thinking that would be a good time to catch the going home from work crowd. It wasn’t. There were only two other guests when I arrived. One mid-thirties muscular guy, who was not interested in me and another mid-thirties slim guy who was. As forum wisdom has it, you only need one, so I had some fun with the slim guy. I liked the Place. It was clean and well maintained with showers, onsen, steam room and sauna on one floor and a cruising area with plenty of cabins for privacy on another floor. I particularly liked that except for the relatively small dark room, there was enough light to move around safely and comfortably. As I was getting ready to leave around 630 pm, activity was picking up considerably. A lot of mid- to late-twenties guys started to show up, so I guess the office crowd works later than I had assumed. I had already gotten what I came for and I was hungry, so I didn't stay to explore the possibilities that showed up as I was leaving. After dinner, I had a Grindr hook up with another slim mid-thirties bottom. He came by my hotel. Cho Hotel 3, nice little place with hostel vibes, visitor friendly. The next day, I had an early start when a local staying in a nearby hotel invited me for a quickie before he had to check out. He was late-thirties with a lean/toned body and we had a very nice round af sex. I did some more sightseeing and was in contact with a mid-twenties small twinkish bottom. We agreed to meet early evening. He was very passionate and we explored several positions. All in all, I really enjoyed Taipei/Taiwan. Interesting sights, great food, and more than enough opportunities to hook up.

I had a great time in Palermo around three years ago. I think i spend 5 days there. I found the city to be noisy, smelly and crowded, but I still loved it. For a quieter time I reccomend a day trip to Cefalu. There is a gorgeous Norman cathedral there and a crowded (I was there in June) beach. I had 4 hook ups through Grindr and a few hours of fun in the small sauna. I also got catfished twice. More or less the same way both times. Someone pretending to be younger would chat with me, we would agree on meeting and when I arrived to where we were supposed to meet , I was blocked and the next minute someone older very close by would contact me.

Thanks @joizy, I really enjoy your Italian adventures. Looking forward to learning more about Napoli, as it has been on my bucket list for a while.

I am reasonably fit for my age, but not sculpted or anything like that. I consider myself quite average, but more than a few Asians have called me handsome, so I guess I fit the mold of what many Asian guys find handsome. I usually wear a collared shirt and chinos or shorts that are more city than beachy. That also seems to play into the Farang Fantasy sometimes

I am out and use face pictures on my profile and make sure I see theirs before meeting. If you take a photo in the app there is a Grindr water mark added to it. I usually let them initiate contact.

Just the early twenties guy who asked for a 1000 b tip and the masseur. All other hook ups were non-transactional. I put "No MB please at the beginning of my bio". I pay my regular's fare, hotel and board when travelling with him, but he doesn't expect anything beyond that.

I must admit I surprised myself

Day two I managed to catch 10 hours of sleep so goodbye jetlag! I had no specific plans, considered trying out the 1-0 Sauna, but Grindr kept me very busy. First meet up was with a twinkish mid-30’s guy from Myanmar. We met in Lumpini Park for a chat and a walk and then went to my hotel for two rounds of good sex. After we said goodbye, I went out for a coffee, a walk, and a bit of shopping in and around Silom. I came by Patpong Road as they were setting up the stalls for the Night Market. I thought it was quite a well choreographed spectacle and I am including a video as I suspect some of you are night owls or vampires who may never get a chance to see it with your own eyes While I was out and about, I was in communication with early twenties guy from yesterday and he agreed to come over again after work. We had another round of good sex and exchanged whatsapp numbers in the hope that we may meet again next time I am in town. A few hours later I had another hook up that was arranged earlier in the day. This time a late 30’s Thai guy. Also very good sex. All of that copulating had given me a nice appetite, so I had a nice deep fried fish and a side of stir fried spinach at Patpong Night Market. After dinner I had a beer at Balcony bar in Soi 4. The street was slowly warming up for the evening and I considered watching the 9 pm show at Circus. However, someone I have been meeting everytime I have been in Bangkok and who is joining me on some of my onward journey, asked me if I wanted to meet this evening already, instead of the evening after as we had previously agreed. He came over and my day was concluded with another round of sex and a sleepover. Day three Sleepover guy had to leave early for work and we agreed to meet again for dinner. In the meantime, the weather forecast was predicting thunderstorms, so I decided to spend the day in and around the hotel. Went to the Gym, had a swim in the pool and did some reading by the pool. I didn’t feel the urge to check Grindr until mid afternoon, but somehow managed to secure two hook ups before dinner. One early thirties Thai guy who impressed me by coming two times in a very short span of time and one early thirties Laos guy, who was all right, but the least memorable of my meets so far. Met my regular for dinner at Khao-So-i Soi Convent Silom. They serve excellent North Thai/Laotian noodles in a thick broth and we also had some very nice dumplings and some Thai desserts, that I don't remember the names of. We went back to the hotel for another sleepover before our journey onwards to Taiwan the next day. Maybe I will continue the trip report in the Taiwan section. Once again Bangkok delivered as my first stop in South East Asia and as a destination in its own right. VID_20251006_155022.mp4

I have only started exploring SE Asia a few years ago, but from my two trips so far (this being the third) where Bangkok has been the anchor at the beginning and at the end of the trip, I have come to the conclusion that Bangkok is the perfect first stop for me. Day one Arrived early morning, no queues at the migration desk. I had completed the digital arrival card, but was not asked to show any documentation, so I assume it was in the database along with my fingerprints from previous visits. Stayed at the Quarter Saladaeng. Nice location. Smallish room, even though I had booked a junior suite. Gym and pool with changing facilities I could use while they were getting my room ready. Decent breakfast with egg station and freshly cooked Asian options and not so interesting industrial grade Western options. Visitor friendly, and no key card required for the lift, which was very convenient since I had a couple of repeat hook ups and a regular from previous visits. After freshing up, I set out on an expedition of grooming and massage with happy ending. I found a nearby nail salon where I had a manicure and a pedicure. Next stop was S’Sense for a two hour hot oil massage. Massage was excellent as always and extras was the best body-to-body massage I have experienced so far. The Masseur very skilfully used his thighs and buttocks to make it feel almost like intercourse though there was no actual penetration. I can share his name in a message if anyone is interested. He didn’t mention a minimum tip when he offered the body to body massage, but he seemed pleased with the 2000 I gave him and proceeded to give me an extra head and neck massage after I tipped him. Came back to the hotel to get my room that was now ready and opened Grindr. Back home, Grindr is practically broken, with 60-70 percent of taps and messages seeming to come from fake profiles, scammers or alleged Only Fans content creators. Not so in Bangkok! I got plenty of messages from genuine guys who wanted to meet me. So late afternoon/early evening I had a visit from an early twenties twinkish top who just got off work. While we chatted he requested a tip of 1000 and I agreed. He wanted to come directly to my room, but as a precaution I met him outside. I didn’t have to, he was even cuter than his photo. We had a nice round of sex and agreed to keep in touch for a possible rematch the day after. I had a nice early dinner at Mango Tree and some mango sticky rice on my way back to the hotel where I laid down to have a good long night’s sleep to hopefully cure my jetlag.

Very usefull report, thanks! Is the bar below Paradise, POC Lounge, still there? When I was in PP it seemed the masseurs from Paradise hang out there in the evenings and make pleasant comapny if you buy them a few drinks. They had a decent Drag show and a host of very young looking and skinny dancing boys. I am not sure if the later did any trade, but they did fit the bill of young and twinky, so they may also be working in paradise?

Reggio di Calabria - first impressions
FunFifties replied to joizy's topic in European Men and Destinations
A promising start indeed. Looking forward to learning more about your month in Calabria as it's something I would like to do myself some day. Do you plan to stay the whole month in the same place or will you try different places? -
I prefer direct flights as it minimizes the time I have to be bored and uncomfortable. From my city to Bangkok, a business class ticket is almost three times as expensive as economy. I dont think it's worth it just to be bored and uncomfortable in a slightly bigger, softer and more reclinable seat. On arrival in bangkok, I find that a two hour massage is the perfect remedy for any soreness or stiffness caused by 11-hours in economy class.

Which businesses to you avoid on moral grounds?

Which businesses to you avoid on moral grounds?
FunFifties replied to unicorn's topic in The Beer Bar
I try to avoid international brand stores altogether, be they fast food, clothing or other businesses. I think it is sad how the High Streets of every major Europeean city has turned into the same wish-wash of international retailers, fast food shops and cafes. -
Great reports. I am a fan of S'sense, but I might give Prestige a try next time

Hide and seek - Aug 2025 trip to Thailand with niece
FunFifties replied to vinapu's topic in Gay Thailand
I am sure we know why 😅"Travel like you are with your niece" could be an excellent travel principle that reminds us of seeking and seizing every opportunity for close encounters with guys. I think I may apply it next month when I travel with family members. -
Will you go to a restaurant if you can't see the menu before-hand?
FunFifties replied to unicorn's topic in The Beer Bar
All of the above plus Lonely Planet reccomendations. Michelin Guide too. -

FunFifties replied to unicorn's topic in The Beer Bar
I would! In my experience no menu is often an indication that the restaurant cooks with whatever is fresh and available on the day. They will usually have the menu on a large board or have the waiter present the options at the table. Some of my most memorable restaurant visits have been to places with no menu on their website. -
I agree that spices play a big part. On my first and so far only visit to India, I thought I was being clever by taking advantage of the low labour cost to have all my laundry done before returning home. It seemed clean and everything was neatly folded, but when I started unpacking back home i realized everything smelled strongly of cumin

Some trains in Thailand are third class only, which translates to free seating and no reservations possible. This was my experience on trains from Bangkok to Aranyaprathet and Kanchanaburi. I know Kanchanaburi is not really long distance, but it may feel like a long time if your bum does not agree with wooden benches
