Is this the Niki who's a little long in the tooth and has had a lot of work done? If it is, then yes. He tried his luck at Fake Club for a couple of weeks but couldn't cut it and returned to Moonlight. Fake Club is a huge hybrid dance club and host bar in Ratchadapisek with erotic dance shows and hosts to keep you company as you drink. It's got fancy lighting and a sound system reminiscent of an evangelical tabernacle. I was half expecting a young Joel Osteen to come out in a loincloth when I first went. The set up is meant to show opulence (beginning with the lobby) but frankly I found it a bit garrish.

They have many athletic and muscular hosts who in my view have better physiques and "fresher/cleaner" appearances than the Patpong guys. Niki with his frozen face and demeanour wouldn't stand out here. The sexy dance shows are well-choreographed and the troupe (not the hosts) has been invited to perform at events and clubs in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Taipei, Hong Kong and several big cities in China. Fake Club is popular with Thais and East Asians, particularly from China, Taiwan and Hong Kong. Club-goers typically stand and dance around small tables where their drinks are placed but booth seating is also available. Music was very loud and conversation was near impossible for me as I'm accustomed to speaking, not shouting. I'd say prices were on the higher side and if memory serves me right you had to buy a set package for drinks depending on how close to the stage you were. IDs were randomly checked at the door but don't worry, they accepted bus passes too!

I loved that in Bangkok various places MRT have security but everyone sets it off and is waved through, made me smile every time!

is Fake Club still as good now as it was before Covid? I think during and just after Covid it became a quieter live music venue for a time. Watching the videos now the guys don’t seem as good looking as before. I also noticed one of their stars is back but looking older. He used to be very hot with a perfect body and bad boy appeal.

Happy to report that in my not so humble opionon, indeed their offering is the best in the Bangkok I tried so far since fall of Roman Empire. Generous  serving too and very good value a 200.

In case  of any doubts, in about 1 hour I will repeat experience  just to make sure yesterday was not one time peak

They were kind, I think to good to share!  Chicken fried rice was really good also.

ATLAS TO REOPEN ON PATPONG 1...AS WHITE CAT BAR

What was Atlas on Patpong 2 is now set to reopen as White Cat Bar on Patpong 1. As suspected, the reopening was delayed by the difficulty they have had in persuading some of their boys to come move from Tawan. Apparently, they have made progress, though, and they are targetting to reopen on February 1st or soon thereafter. As per the video below, the interior is now fully ready and it doesn't look bad.

Regarding the location, they had originally intended to reopen on Soi 6 but found a cheaper location on Patpong 1. While my captain friend was sending me pictures of the progress on the interior, he forgot to mention that it was not on Soi 6 as he originally said it would be. That would, obviously, explain the reports of "no progress" from members who have taken a stroll down Soi 6. All's well that ends well though. 

The bar will be located across from the Music Bar on Patpong 1, on the Madrid side of the road. The choice of name seemed a little odd to me, but when he sent me the location on Google Maps, I realised that it located in the old Wild Cat Bar. The Wild Cat was a rather notorious bar, originally known as the Fire Cat, that introduced the really wild girlie shows to Thailand in the 80s. It long ago changed hands and changed names, becoming a rip-off ping pong show bar. Good riddance to the Wild Cat and I look forward to welcoming the White Cat. The new name is obviously a riff on the old one.

There have been several gay bars on Patpong 1 over the decades and it has never gone well for them. The most recent were that batch of three short-lived bars in 2019 after Soi Twilight closed - SuperBoys, Sweet Banana and Chill Out Boy - that were doomed from day one. May the White Cat fare better.

In addition to the previous negative history of gay bars In Patpong One, if they will be allowing smoking inside, as per video, they will be ruling out another section of customers, including me. 

I give it a month, but thanks for update.
