Empty buildings in the Jomtien Complex

I walked by today and here’s a quick update. They were working on the bar with the question mark and I saw the owner of M-Bar there so it looks like he could be adding it to his existing portfolio on M-Bar and Sunee Bar. I should have taken a photo when I went by the first time and the door was open.

The Dragon Music Lounge will be reopening soon under new ownership. A guy at Sunbar told me it’s going to be called PP Bar.

Fun Bar is undergoing major renovations. I’m not sure if the name will change.

  • At last, somebody agrees 🤩 I have been saying the same for years, From a business perspective, bars should choose between being a showbar or an offing bar. The conflict between the two business models

We can only hope that the re-imagined "Fun Bar" might actually be fun, not yet another boring "sit-down-and-drink-bar".  As someone who drinks very sparingly, I've always wondered how I should behave in such bars. Ordering a coke or nam som only leads to a sugar high. Ordering a ginger ale doesn't seem appropriate either and makes one feel wimpish. Or, gasp, asking for an ice water. Really this has bugged me for years, and, on occasion, has led to my drinking alcohol more than my body appreciates, which I later regret and certainly isn't "fun" for me. At least, thank god, most of the bars now prohibit smoking. I say "most" because last time I was in A-Bomb most of the depressed customers were smoking like chimneys.

ask if they have hot tea or coffee, some bars may have it and often it's what I order if i feel overdrinked already after bar hopping

I wonder why you feel that way. For health reasons, several decades ago I had to stay off the booze for a year. This was a time when everyone drank considerably more than they should have - and then got into their cars to drive home! Going out with friends and work colleagues, i got so tired of being constantly encouraged to have a drink. So I hit on the idea of my ordering a ginger ale as soon as I arrived at a bar. That stopped the pestering if only because it looked like a whisky soda.

Can anybody here imagine these Jomtien Complex bars making money?

those which are closing , probably no. Those which stay open, some for quite a long time, probably yes.

Am I concerned ? Not at all

I was really waiting for @Olddaddy to give us his point of view and future plans 🧐

I noticed on my last visit my favourite bar the Dragon lounge was closed down

There was 2 cute Indian /Nepalese boys in there earlier this year

Never did see anyone in there

Nepalese boys in Pattaya ?. My only interaction with Nepalese was 15 years ago when I was part of a 2 week trekking holiday into the high mountains. They carried our bags and generally looked after us on the trail. Tough friendly young guys .

There was a Nepali guy working at the now-defunct Tawan a few years back. And a tailor shop up Silom Road that I have used on a few occasions has Nepalis on its staff.

and there was one, very popular,  in Moonlight.  When he disappeared there  was rumors that farang  took him to Netherlands and placed him in the university there
