aaroninatl Posted yesterday at 02:09 AM Posted yesterday at 02:09 AM I only spent an hour at FB when I was there this week but there were probably 4 or 5 guys I'd gladly spend time with. I just am not crazy about the offing process. I get it the bar needs to make money, but I like to see the guy make his money. He's doing the work. I'm not a big drinker. And after cover charge, drinks, this offing fee... you're already up around the cost of what a massage costs before the guy's part of the equation is even figured in. I still will probably partake in the offing thing while I'm here, but seems like the smarter money is the massage. vinapu 1 Quote

Neither was I when I first came to Thailand many years ago. Why? I was shy and intimidated and I did not like having to negotiate via a mamasan/papasan intermediary. But, I did not shun going to these EXCITING unique places; gogo-bars, host bars, show bars, etc. because the fun is in the EXPERIENCE. Don't deny yourself that fun - you only live once and you stated that you came on this first time trip to Thailand because you want to evaluate if this could become your retirement host country. So, try to enjoy your stay in Thailand to the fullest within your given financial boundaries. emiel1981, aaroninatl, vinapu and 1 other 4 Quote

You have to go through the whole process - your drink, boy drink, off fee, tip mamasan and short time (or long time) payment to guy - at least once. Think of it as introduction fee. After you get the guy's contact, you can arrange to meet him separately - before he goes to bar for work in evening or after he finishes work at bar (and he has no customer). Most guys will be happy to meet during this low season period. FunFifties, Travelingguy, bkkmfj2648 and 1 other 3 1 Quote

If you think of it as a one off thing, of course massage beats offing from bar. But if you look deeper and divide it up, you can still see value going into bar. I for one, always prefer bar over massage, simply because its much easier for me to choose guy i like face to face, and in the bar, i can take my time choosing or not choose one at all. Your own drink = entrance fee for the show you get. Boy drink = for the boy's time with you in the bar, where you can enjoy having a warm body and everything attached to that body (often just in a skimpy underwear) while watching the show. The boy do get a cut from the drinks. Off fee = outcall fee, as you did take the boy out during business hour, where theoretically, he could make just as much for the bar through drinks at the bar. Yet the best value for me is the bar tipping system for the boys. In massage place, you pay by the hour, and they are quite strict on that. For bar, short time can be as long as 2 hours, and long time can be up to 6-7 hours. I still enjoy going to massage but paying by hour, usually opted for at least 90min or 2 hour, but that will cost more as well. vinapu and 10tazione 2 Quote

This was the justification that finally got me over the mental block of how expensive a night at a gogo bar can get...... I just can't justify it every night at every bar when there are so many others on apps and massage shops around, plus a place like Super A , where I've found so many diamonds in the rough and country guys or freelnaces more or less that show up when they need extra cash. Then there are the go-go's where the guys are treated like and expect rates of a Bollywood star that I won't bother going in. aaroninatl, Travelingguy and mauRICE 3 Quote

Yes, some of the shops you know going in that the massage will not be the main focus. More attention will be paid on the extras. Half of the fun or excitement in getting massage is to see just how far the masseur will go...will he or won't he...and what are the limits. I guess it's a game for me. In the bars, you know exactly what you are going to get before you walk out the door with someone. You have negotiated in advance for ST or LT as well as what they will or won't do. There isn't that same element of surprise that I find with massage. aaroninatl and bkkmfj2648 2 Quote

I'd replace highlighted part with 'more or less what you are going to get" , bar negotiations are not sealed and signed contracts , just something like promissory notes. And I haste to add it 's not a bad thing as nice surprises are as frequent as disappointments daydreamer, Travelingguy, Ruthrieston and 1 other 4 Quote

Diamond in the rough.... there's a difference: In the context of a male escort, a diamond in the rough refers to a provider who has incredible natural qualities but lacks the polished presentation of a high-end professional. Key Characteristics Raw Appeal: He is naturally highly attractive, genuinely charming, intelligent, or inherently good at connecting with people. Unpolished Presentation: He might have a basic or poorly photographed online profile, slow communication, or a lack of high-end wardrobe options. Lacks Industry Polish: He may be new to the industry, unfamiliar with luxury etiquette, or nervous during bookings. High Potential: Clients who overlook his unpolished exterior get an exceptional, authentic experience at what is often a lower introductory rate. Common Examples A newcomer with an average profile who turns out to be an incredibly attentive, captivating companion in person. A naturally handsome man who shows up in casual clothing but possesses the emotional intelligence of a premium provider. Quote
