I have a Mexican friend that goes every 6 weeks and he offers 15 cuc ( He likes dark chocolate, nice guys but not my flavor) and doesn't take them to eat or buy drinks......another guy from Mexico offers 10 cuc and they say no.... but in the end, 10 is better than zero and they give in... that's just being cheap. The wifi cards cost 2 cuc, many people will buy them and sell them all up and down La Rampa for 3 cuc all day long so we don't have to wait in any line at Etecsa. What do you pay the guys in Rio? I went to the other bar Mixto....was nice but I didn't stay, no white rum being sold, all gold, or aged. My recommendation is go to Bim Bom, don't rely on hearsay that your type won't be there....

I have a Mexican ATM in case of emergencies.... but could always have someone Western Union money would be another back up plan. I've been going to Cuba for about 16 or 17 years now.... I have things that I love or hate about the place, much like any place I visit I guess.... I went with another friend that makes TomCal seem like a Nun.... didn't think that was possible. Reminds me of TotalyOz in many respects (his spending and lodging habits) There is WiFi now available in the street for $2 an hour, so this alone may make my trips more frequent. Anyway, my big whore of a friend that has lived in Mexico, Thailand, Brasil and a few other places says that the scene in Havana is the BEST he has ever been to. He couldn't get over the number of cute guys that hang out at Bim Bom every night (in the hundreds) and the going price is still $20 and most will overnight. Gotta say That I still feel that Cuba is the safest country I travel to....one good result of a police state. Can drink 24 hrs a day, drink in the street great Rum is $5 a bottle (my weakness) Now that the State is allowing many businesses to operate legally there are some very good and inexpensive restaurants, 2 gay bars.... but I found Taxi's to be on the high side compared to other countries, so stay in an apt or hotel close to Vedado. The saunas, have 2 types..... either with or without working guys (money boys).
