santosh108 got a reaction from ChristianPFC in Cremation services for late King to be at end of December
Today while walking around the outside of the Grand Palace and up to the National Museum, I noticed that there is much activity going in Sanam Luang which is totally fenced off in preparation for the upcoming event.  Thousands of people, almost all in black, are entering Sanam Luang to observe the preparations and show their respect by slowly walking around a very tall platform that is being erected.  I approached the entry gate respectfully but was turned away very politely by a well spoken uniformed official who said that entry was limited to Thai citizens.

The best plan for those interested in seeing the ceremony live may be to find a good TV in the country and observe what they may televise for the many people in Thailand who will not be able to come in person. Perhaps if you are close friends to a high ranking government official or member of the royal household or a foreign diplomat stationed in Bangkok ,you may be able to attend or maybe not.

Have only been here in Jomtien Complex for two days, but have had an opportunity to try some massage.
Your map is accurate.  Here are most of the names.

    #1 - Sa Bai Thong
    #2 - Soda
    #3 - Fah
    #4 - Blue Angel
#5 -?? (Didnt see sign in English)

They all seem to have oil and most other massages for 300 per hour.  Thai massage is 200.

I tried oil massage at Fah and had a masseur named Men. The facilities were small and basic.  Looked like 3 curtained off areas up front and a room with a lockable door and shower in the back which I was in.  Not particularly clean.  But table was sturdy and coverings seemed clean.  Men gave an excellent massage with medium pressure which I requested. Very therapeutic and also very sensual.  When I turned over I could see that he was dressed in short loose trunks and he did not mind mutual touch.  Actually he got quite excited.  However he never got too close... Only one HE.  Not sure he would offer more if negotiated or on subsequent visits?  Gave him 500 and massage was 300. Offered a shower at the end, but gave it a pass.  Very enjoyable hour.  Will definitely try to see Men again.  Well worth just for the therapeutic treatment.

Next day massage at Soda.  Didn't get the name of the masseur.  This is a much bigger facility with more decoration. Curtained off cubicles in front and than more around the corner.  Looked fairly clean.  I was in a cubicle around the corner.  Received an adequate massage and upon turning over again he was in loose shorts which quickly disappeared. Mutual HE.  Again not much more interaction.  Gave him 300 and massage was 300.  It was ok experience.

Of course in any massage place the experience will depend greatly on the masseur.  And as I did not request more interaction since I did not know if that would be appropriate, I just went with the flow.

Look forward to trying out more of these places later in the month when I return.

Would be nice to hear of more personal experiences in these places.  For me this is much less hit or miss than boy bar and certainly less expensive.

I had a stroll around Sunee last night 10.00 - 10.30 pm I was quite surprised to see most bars seemed to be doing ok for customers on a weekday after reading some recent reviews of how Sunee seemed to be dieing.

It was my third night in Pattaya this trip and I still haven't really done much apart from a couple of massages. As I get older I am finding that it now takes much longer to recover from the long flight.

I may try a few BT GoGo Bars this evening.

I'm in full agreement with all of members who hope you continue to post. I'm not going to tell you not to pay attention to the negative comments but rather feel comfortable that the overwhelming number of both members and especially non- members appreciate the work and the way you tell the story.

You need to realize that your stories get 1000's of view and most of them are not members and will never be able to show their appreciation for brightening their lives if only in stories.

I have never understood any reason not to post photos and as long as you adhere to the no cock or hole views you will be adhering to the rules. There are some members who balk at a photo when the same boy has photos all over the internet, If they have photos on Romeo, Hornet, Jack'd etc they should expect anyone can see them as well as copy them.

I for one also dont smoke and dont like the smell of smoke. Its not just unpleasant to me but it irritates my nose and throats. Many restaurant in my country have smoking and non smoking sections, i wonder if the bars can do that as well. I wont go as far as telling off people who smoke near me, id simply cough like my lungs is his and move away. Similar response when someone who just pooped his pants walking near me. Run lola run. That being said, i have utmost respect for smokers who are considerate, smoking outside and away from others. Smoking is an addiction, which is a disease, might start by choice but not quitting isnt always a choice.

It would be interesting to hear from those who light up in Bars about whether they are allowed to do that in their own country.

Lived in Montreal for 6 years and there were screams when no smoking laws would be passed . I still remember every one of the strip bars crying that it would ruin their business.

Guess what , it was enforced and it did not hurt their business one bit. Customers and dancers went outside which in winter meant they probably extended their lives somewhat because they did not want to freeze and thus they did not smoke at all.

There are some countries where you are not even allowed to smoke outdoors except in designated areas.  Sounds like a good idea to me!

Of course there is no formula except reading the posts of the member and seeing if he posts anything useful rather then attacking people. For instance you are a fairly new member but anyone could point to many wonderful posts that you have made about your experiences . I certainly have enjoyed them and marveled at your ability to recount experiences long after they have happened.

But then there are members who have never posted any thing except an attack on another member or replied in the negative about everything. They are the ones who almost are never the OP but just want to pick fights while contributing nothing to the discourse. Somehow I think you know the difference??

Good point . We forget sometimes the corruption that happens in the background when we are in other countries (at least I do, I am so oblivious to a lot of things). Like I said, it is part of the cost of doing business, and since prostitution is illegal in Thailand, I feel that it is part of the cost of the enterprise. If and when they do crack down on these brothels, I hope that don't come for the escorts online next, like rentboy.com here in the US.

And its everywhere. Whenever I leave Manila I have to pay that $12.50 "terminal fee" that I know does not go to their shitty airport, and probably goes to their very deadly "war on drugs". Whenever I fly to Mexico the $20 "tourist card fee" is baked into every ticket, and Mexico has the most corrupt government in the developed world (how else would El Chapo have been successful evading capture all that time?). And not to mention 16% of the federal tax dollars that I pay every paycheck here in the US funds our giant military industrial complex (guns, missiles, instruments of destruction).

I pay for all sorts of things that I do not agree with. The paltry portion of my 400 baht going to a corrupt policeman, or greedy landlord in Bangkok seems peanuts in comparison to those other things. Then again I don't think about those things, unless I want myself to go insane.

As I mentioned in another post there is no right answer. Some have a preference  for Bars or Apps or both.  The apps for those who want overnights are probably not the best option. But for those who don't limit our needs for Sex to night time then Bars etc are useless. I wake up in the morning and want someone , there are no Bars etc . 3am in the morning same , 5pm same . So if you limit your sex to normal sleeping hours then Bars are a good choice.

The vast majority of posters here who say apps are of no use to them have never used them.  The boys have figured out where the customers are which is why the overwhelming  % of available boys in Pattaya are on the Apps even if they also work in the Bars or even Massage Parlors.

Sometimes it also makes a difference the length of your trip. A 7-10 day trip maybe you can go to multiple Bars every night. When you visit 30-60 days unless you are an alcoholic , going to Bars every night, not only is expensive but not good for your liver if you drink.

Hell when i lived in BKK, I was on Soi Twilight at least 5 nights a week for the first year , and then I discovered Planet Romeo and not only found boys who were not in the sex trade but at least as good looking and many times better looking. The same boys I used to drool over walking in Siam Paragon.  Those boys are not available in the Bars.

So if you have not tried the apps, don't criticize them and if you have used it once or twice and were not satisfied that is no different in going to Jupiter and getting nothing for your money.

    Up, Up, and Away

I tend to plan my travel several months in advance, juggling the imponderables along with the required commitments and throwing higher a desire for the new.  This trip began with all the balls in the air.  Somewhat spurred by Numazu’s report on his sojourn in Cambodia and Vinapu’s exploration of the further reaches of Ankor Wat, I contacted Ya at Siamroads for advice.  The most open period in my calendar was the last two weeks in January.

Ya has been a great help in the past both formally as a guide and, informally, as a resource on hotels, transport, restaurants, and what not to miss.  Ya put me in touch with Sareth in Siam Reap and we sketched out a tour to give me an overview.  One rough point was that Sareth was only available for part of my adventure but promised guide(s) who would do him proud.  After Cambodia, I’d have a week in Bangkok to visit with Van, and maybe Yoyo, my boy on the side; as well as a few days in Pattaya.  Hotels were selected, some booked, research begun.

This being all set-in motion, I messaged Van, which began a series of back and form Line messages, FB posts, and WeChat.  Basically, they boiled down to the fact that my trip planning had not considered local holidays or his schedule.  The Lunar New Year fell in the middle of my visit.  The Chinese would be celebrating Spring Festival and the Vietnamese going home for Tet.

If I was to see Van, only the first part of my visit would work for him as he’d promised his family to be home for Tet, the very time frame I planned to be in the ruins.  I thought quite a bit about this and looked for a way to do everything I wanted to do and do my way.  In a moment of “Ego Flight”, I wondered why Van didn’t understand and just rearrange his family obligations for my sake.

I knew once I’d voiced my irritation to myself that my planning rigor hadn’t been connected to Van’s schedule let alone small things like national events.  WeChat heated up with possibilities and calendar back and froths, Van telling me he could stay in Bangkok for the first five nights of my visit and would fly to Hanoi rather than taking the bus.  I reached out to Sareth and Ya and the Ankor Wat journey is now penciled in for late May.  The Poseidon in Jomtien/Pattaya rescheduled my stay, and a room became available at The Raya on Surawong which had been sold out on Agoda.

This is where “serendipity” comes into my report, I decided to let the need to plan dissipate and go with the flow be it smooth or through some rapids.  I rush to complete several commitments at home, pack lightly but take a big suitcase, suspecting/knowing/realizing that I will buy “stuff”.  Tell friends and family that I’m leaving the country to miss the Trump Inaugural. Everyone goes along with that, though some wink knowingly at me.

Wednesday, January 18, dawns (at 4:25 am it hasn’t yet dawned) when I catch the first subway train to San Francisco airport.  Have breakfast in the United Club, power up my electronics, scoop up read the free newspapers: WS Journal, NY Times, Financial Times, SF Chronicle, and USA Today.  Printed news seems unfamiliar.  I read / skim the same papers every day but in electronic versions.

Boarding is on time, I’m in the 747’s Premium Economy and have a window row to myself.  Not bad for a ticket that cost $650 round trip.

Philosophical statement: if I’m automatically seated in Premium Economy without a charge, I’ll use the savings from not paying $3000 more for business class for better hotels or meals, etc.

Plane is about half full.  Cabin attendant in my area, by chance, is someone I know, a PanAm legacy employee from back when United purchased PanAm’s Asia routes.  She lives and is based on Tokyo which is where this leg of my journey is headed.  We catch up and I know I will be well looked after.  She tells me the 747’s will be phased out by the end of the year for Dreamliners.  Something to look forward to.

Seat-belted in, flight deck informs passengers that SF air traffic control has put a hold on our departure due to a rain squall descending on the Bay Area.  90 minutes later we taxi and get in line to wait for take-off.  12 plus hours later, plane is landing at Narita.

My layover time is reduced so there isn’t time to catch a shower at the UA Club if I’m going to eat.  I scarf down several pieces of sushi, some noodles, and multiple salmon appetizers.  The next leg of the journey will be on ANA and I’ve learned to avoid its food just as I ignore United’s.

Board early with my Star Alliance status and settle into my aisle seat.  As my carry on is minimal, I’m not sure why I board so early, must be something to do with being hit by the oversize carry-ons and backpack slapped when a boarding passenger suddenly turns and his/her backpack contacts my head or aisle side arm.

Seven hours later, touch down at BKK.  I go through my usual non-verbal rant at ANA’s policy of not letting economy passengers disembark until all its business class passengers are off the plane.  Released, I find that the plane is parked at a gate close to immigration!  There goes (thankfully) my exercise.  Go up the slight ramp and find that there are maybe 500 to 600 already in line ahead of me.  Despair! I shuffle along until a security guard comes over, looks at my passport, and sends me to the Thai Airways priority line where I am one of two waiting.  Why?  Have no idea but am grateful.  Next miracle is that my suitcase has already landed.  I have cash left over from my October trip, and grab a taxi.  I text Van and 300 THB and 30 minutes later that taxi pulls up at The Raya and Van is waiting. Summary: Plane lands at11:37pm, arrive hotel 12:20am.

I’ve never been at The Raya before.  Booked based on Vinapu’s description of his stay and other favorable comments.  Van and I register.  I know he will stay for the duration of his time before departing for home, so having him as a registered guest makes it easier to come and go independently. It is also a mark of respect.  Registration is efficient.  Room is on the 7th floor. And overlooks Soi Twilight.

The room has a full kitchen with a dining area as well as a bedroom with a sitting area.  Clean and comfortable.  I ask Van if he wants to eat, tells me he has already eaten.  Ask of he wants to have a drink at HotMale bar or catch the 1am show at Screwboys.  No and no.  I tell him I need to shave as I didn't have time before leaving home, so it’s been two days and I’m scruffy.  He tells me to shave and then we will shower. I shave as he heads to Family Mart for supplies – skin scrubs, body wash, bar soap, water, and Kit Kat bars.

He returns and treats me to a long leisurely shower and cleansing with requisite intimacies.  He’s always been in shape but has clearly been working out since I saw him In October.  Impressive.  The glassed-in shower has a rain shower head as well as a handheld…we use both before drying off, Van makes tea for us and we take time to catch up and I’ll thread what’s important into this report.  Right now, we adjourn to the bed and merge back into a routine that we know, like, and are comfortable with.
