Given the current tensions between Thailand and Cambodia, I am surprised he was able to cross the border. He must have flown to Bangkok as air travel is still possible. Land borders are all closed. Where is he from in Cambodia?

I would be one of those. It isn't just the cover. I realize that technically the drink minimum at the other clubs is the same thing as a cover charge. It is the fact that I have to pay in advance even for my drinks. I prefer to enjoy the show and my time with some handsome young man without being nagged for payment every time a drink is ordered. Most of the bars you clear your tab for the evening when you are ready to depart. It is just an annoyance for me...and the principle. You and I may like the same kind of guys, but we are truly on opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to the clubs. Jupiter and Moonlight are the very last two on my list of favorites. LOL.

He did tell me but it went through one ear and out the other. 😆 He's only here for 4 or 5 days so I'm assuming your air travel theory is correct.

I guess I'm just used to it with American bars and clubs so it's not that big of a deal to me. First few days of the trip I paid right away and got strange looks until I realized they do it here.

Monday morning update...

2 more days in the 'Kok. Still gotta work in that visit to Moonlight. Hopefully tonight. Still gotta have a chat with that stunner at Jupiter too. He would be my first off if it happens. First few days I was too tired and getting acclimated. Plus I did a couple massages. Then this week, the 2 Grindr guys have taken care of my needs and then some. But I've gotta do the off experience at least once.

Today Grindr Guy #1 is working so I'm planning to see Grindr Guy #2 and then I'm heading to the big Muay Thai arena tonight. Got a front row seat so should be pretty intense. Then hopefully I'll be back in time for that Moonlight visit so I can round out my infamous Top 10 list.

Dumb question for today... I've yet to order a second drink at any of these gogo bars. Is the 2nd drink price the same as the first? I'm not a big drinker but curious if I did order a 2nd drink, it'd be like paying the cover charge twice.

nothing dumb at all. That varies from bar to bar, in some price of 2nd drink is the same , in others reductions may be minimal , like 50 baht. Some may offer more substantial reduction. I vaguely recall at Jupiter second drink after midnight is half price but not sure as I don't really pay attention to those things , one drink will do for me in most cases.

The same goes with boys drinks - in some bars price is the same , in others it may be some reduction for boy's drink.

Check locally , those things are usually posted somewhere inside

I like the average next door type of guy - slim, not too muscular - similar to @aaroninatl and @jimmie50 and probably many other forum members here. But I do enjoy nights out at Jupiter and Moonlight to watch the shows. The more polished and professional choreography is miles better than the shows in other bars.

I especially like it when guys have a chance to present themselves individually to customers via a catwalk on the runway (Jupiter, Moonlight, Hot Male, even Good Boy but as part of a long line of guys) or through go go boy dancing (Dreamboy). Only Freshboy doesn't do individual presentation.

To be frank, I haven't been attentive during the shows in recent years because I am always occupied with a guy sitting next to me! :p

I remember that second drink at Banana Bar is cheaper than first drink.

For some reason, I remember that in Pattaya Toy Boys, gives a 2nd drink for free, if you ask... @bkkmfj2648 next time you're over that way and if you stop in, Ask.... Jaimie told me it's for people that live in Pattaya or something like that but I remember getting a 2nd soda for free to maybe.

I like a bit of fanfare and dazzle too. Gives me a good opportunity to ogle the boys and fantasize about some of them. And when they come down to sit next to me and are every bit as good as they looked on stage…that is where magic is made

Many guys can't fathom why an older man would want a twink. To each his own. I'm not heavily into it, but it's a big part of their heritage. I'm not much of a soccer fan but I always go to football games when I'm in South America. I feed off the energy of those who are there. Same with concerts of artists I may not be that into.

But generally I'm way more into masculine stuff than gay guys. I'm weird. I like metal. I like sports. I am bored to tears if you drag me to a musical or expect me to vibe with Britney or Gaga.

Monday afternoon update...

Stopped by Arena and Titan for a moment since that shopping center is pretty much across the street from my Airbnb. Just popped into both for a second as I'm getting ready to head to the boxing event. Arena is definitely not for me, but if you're a muscle lover, I totally see the appeal. Walking in to a gym setting is an interesting gimmick. All the guys were beefy and older as advertised. Just not my thing.

Titan had a super cute twink at the front desk. I've been getting their daily lineups on Line. From all I read, the price is too high. And none of the therapists seem next level. But they're all reasonably cute. Titan might get some business from me if I get the late night hornies since they're so close and open until midnight. Didn't go past the lobby but seems very upscale. I guess it should be for that price right? I think they're fighting an uphill battle given their location. Very little foot traffic as they're tucked away in the back of a really basic shopping center.

Exactly. The entertainment factor is lost on a lot of these places. Make your cast members look like a star. Showcase them. Make them seem bigger than life.. unattainable. When these places like Good Boy and Hotmale just shove a bunch of depressed and defeated looking guys on stage who are questioning their life choices with a number stuck on their underwear, it's pity I feel more than excitement.

This is what Moonlight tries to do with their models… GoGo boys in Japan also bring this to another level entirely.

But I'm the same way. Whether it's massages or bars, Silom is just easier. So for this trip I haven't ventured out much beyond. Maybe on the 2nd leg of the trip.

You should probably give Fake Club a try as well at some point, preferably with a couple of friends. It’s a rather different experience from Asgard, less centred on the host concept and more of a proper gay club with shows, music and a big local crowd.

I think it works better as a group night out than somewhere to sit by yourself analysing the economics of each drink 😄 And if you’re already curious about nightlife outside Silom, Fake is probably one of the more entertaining places to start. Silom is certainly easier, though. However, I do enjoy listening to something else than the Foodland Variations.

I have always wanted to go to Fake Club (just to have a look and experience atmosphere) but couldn't find the right company to take me there. Forum members I've met are contented with bars in Silom. My regular guy doesn't like the Thai music played at Thai discos and places such as Fake Club. There are two guys whom I offed and we nearly went to Fake Club with. One proposed outing ended up with us watching Netflix overnight. Another planned occasion ended up as karaoke (with his bar mates!)
