Not a lot to report the last couple of days . Just a few repeat boys and a little time off.   Today I wanted a fast food sandwich.
 
Now I try to stay away from BK and McD, KFC etc because I am already heavy enough. But today i just wanted non Thai food.
 
The Big Mall next door has most of the fast food joints but for me the special one is Carl's Jr..  They are on the 3rd floor beachside and have this amazing outdoor deck just for their customers. You can sit inside with a/c or go outside on the deck with the sea breezes.
 
Now Carl's also has what they call Low Carb sandwiches where they remove the bun and replace it with lettuce leaves. Chicken Grilled Club without the bun and not fried has 40% less cal then the regular and I would imagine a lot less fat.  It was quite good and I had just a few Criss Cut FF ( really only a few)
 
Now the photos show the deck and some boys at a table and then a shot from outside looking back at the deck from the other side and if you look close you can see the Big Sign for Carl's.  Took a few shots of some schoolboys on the deck.
 
I know pretty boring but that's all I got for now. By the way since all the New Years Holidays seem to be over Gayromeo has added a lot of new boys in the last 48 hour. So many boys and so little time!! Will check the Bars out soon to see if they have increased the offerings.

Spent 2 nights there in November and consider it one of best values for money one can ask for. Area is not that peaceful as Nartahiwas is  dual road but all in Moses post above is true. No street noise sipping to the room-my was facing street.
 
I'm always amazed about no elevator complains, how many of you are travelling with heavy luggage and in wheelchair ? This is 4 floor building not some highrise.
 
 Safe in the room worked, restaurant downstairs has very good and inexpensive food  , breakfast 70-80 baht. On your way to Silom is exchange counter with one of best rates I saw in BKK during my stay.
 
No problem with guests, their ID will be hold by reception.

Read the article, Rich.  While the author seems rather level-headed, I actually didn't see any specific reform that he was recommending (nor have I seen any specific reform stated by either the government or the protestors).  Everybody is screaming about the need for reform but nobody seems to want to say first what it is specifically that they want reformed.
 
What'd be funny is if they set up the reform body that the author suggests and, at the first meeting, nobody suggests anything!  Everybody would likely agree on a stiff law prohibiting vote buying but I doubt if that'd solve or change anything.  Other than that, I don't think the government and the protestors would agree that the sun rises in the east on some/most/all mornings.  

DAY 11.
 
My friend, L wanted to go to The Prince today, since he has his favourite there. Our last visit in June was fantastic, the selection of boys could rival Hero and Senso. In august however, the number of boys had dwindled down…

Well, back to Senso, i guess it is back to its former glory. The one that I fell in love with. Good job on the ladyboy boss, she managed to improve the line up and convinced the old ones to come back…!!

Regardless of all that, I really see no point in learning any of these phrases as you shouldn't use them (in the wrong company, you'll get your ass kicked bigtime) and I'm doubtful that you could pronounce any of them correctly and/or with the correct tones.

A general reply to several questions and comments.  If a trip to Sri Lanka is good for you depends on why you are going.  If for history, culture, people this YES go!  A great place.  I will return for this reason.  If you are going to check out the men then a good reason to go BUT a very different scene than Thailand. 
 
I stayed at Dickman's in Negombo.  Expensive but I would do it again.  Best everything!  The owner was in Europe with his boy friend and still everything worked great!  Life is short - taste it while you can!
 
- Have you ever been to Laos?  Yes, but Laos is just the same as Thailand.  Sri Lanka is very different.
- Abysmal food?  I love Thai food, and the food in Sri Lanka, however food from every culture is available all over the island.
- South Asian young men.  If you are mainly interested in the men then I would concentrate on Colombo and the beaches to the south.  Boys are everywhere.  Hot and ready.  BUT you do have to be somewhat careful [as every where].  Negombo has young men but this is a small village and everyone knows everyone else.  But you will be approached everywhere!  The word is “do you want a massage”!
 
From this first trip and my limited ‘research’ it seems that most boys from early on have sex with their mates but this often stops when they marry, but not always.  Several well known famous gay persons in Sri Lanka are in fact married with children!
 
About costs?  This changes all the time.  The best way to answer this is to search air fares, google hotels in Sri Lanka, buy a travel guide.  There are several travel companies listed on Utopia.  Check with them.  As I mentioned I used Steve and was impressed.  I told him how many days I wanted and where I wanted to go and he emailed me a suggested tour with price.  He can 'tailor' a tour for you.  As a couple of you mentioned, just taking the local bus and trains work well too.  The Lonely Planet guide book is good for this type of travel.

Thais are stupid? LOL Americans elected George Bush to two terms (even though not really the first term as it was given to him and the very "intelligent" people in the USA voted him back in).

If you really need a triple-entry tourist visa, I'm pretty sure the only place nearby that issues (or used to issue) them is the consulate in Bali. Do check on Thai Visa.
 
So that would be Indonesia. You'd need a visa, but you could get it on arrival. On the plus side, Bali is a great destination and well worth a visit. All things considered, a visit to a neighboring country would be cheaper, but the best you can hope for is a double-entry tourist visa.

Even the NYT is being too indirect when talking about the real problem.  I am referring to that big elephant in the room that no one can say anything about.
