  1. Do you arrange LT with them when you off them or do you bring it up when you are in your hotel room?
  2. Do you have a link for this as it disagrees with everything I've read or heard.
  3. I don't think it's ok but I recognise that, if you are going to refuse to let someone travel, you need to do it before they board the aircraft. All airlines play the numbers games to keep prices low and many passengers want the flexibility to change their minds at the last moment as their circumstances change. The result is that on occasion the airlines have more people than places. There is a sensible policy in place, offer compensation and another flight. It works all over the world. Common sense though says that if you aren't offering enough compensation to attract the volunteers you need to increase it until someone is tempted. That's one of the very many things that went wrong here.
  4. Financial impact was always going to be short term, the impact on the relationship between flight attendants and customers will be there for a long time. As for whether he first accepted, reports seem to differ depending on where you read it. Something tells me we will never get a truthful account or, if we do, we won't recognise it amongst all the fake ones.
  5. Where does this come from? I'm not arguing its voracity but I was under the impression from the airlines statements that they had no volunteers and had to do a "random" selection. Only later it appears the random selection wasn't a random selection but a careful calculation in later statements. As for overbooking, that really isn't what happened here. They were on the plane, in their seats when United decided to move 4 flight personnel instead of 4 passengers. That has nothing to do with overbooking and everything to do with poor decision making. If you want to kick 4 people, do it before they go through the gate and preferably quietly. There were loads of really poor decisions here but overbooking is something the press have latched onto because they invariably start speculating long before they have any facts. Let's face it, journalism today has little to do with reporting and everything to do with filling endless hours with few facts but lots of guesses.
  6. There is a place nearly opposite Tukcok on South Pattaya Road. It doesn't look much from the outside and really doesn't look like much from the inside for that matter with almost like 1960's kitchen tables, but the food is superb. Have no idea what the name is, or even if it has one. Was taken there by a regular off and it was really very good. On the whole in Jomtien it usually seems that most places try too hard to cater for everyone and end up with fairly mediocre food. Surf Kitchen is fairly good on the front. Natan's has already been mentioned. If you like American food there's a place near to Jomtien on Thrappraya called Pastrami on Rye. They also do good breakfasts. This recommendation is going to be next to useless as I've no idea which Soi it's on off Jomtien but if you go down the Jomtien Beach road down to where the market is held, off one of the Soi's is a set of market stalls set up and a bunch of tables. Each table is set up with a tiny BBQ set into it and some boiling water. You then go up and select from fresh meats, fish, shellfish, vegetables, etc and cook it at the table. Fun little night and quite popular. Sorry I can't be more precise but I was taken there by my BF du jour on the back of a scooter and I had my eyes closed most of the way.
  7. Reading the rules and regulations is somewhat amusing as everything is about people being refused boarding at the gate. It's obvious no one envisaged someone would be stupid enough to board people and then try to get them off.
  8. It's a much larger contempt for the public, starting with governments, then elected officials, then police forces and now businesses. This is a much more visible form of contempt though and United are going to be stung for it in the short term.
  9. I place no blame on him for the situation, however he is not blameless for how badly it escalated. The vast majority of the blame and responsibility goes to the idiotic decisions made by the police and air crew but, at some point, someone here needed to calm the situation down and either side could have made that happen. At any point either side could have decided, actually there are a lot of people in a confined space here and this has gone too far.
  10. MBK mall is a great place to spend a few hours. Lots of normal shops but also lots of market stalls to wander around. Food court has a huge variety and is good value. Asiatique is definitely worth an evening. Lots of shops and restaurants. Not cheap but worth some time. If you like Thai history/architecture but don't have days to go to the various sites a visit to the Ancient City (http://ancientcitygroup.net/ancientsiam/en) is worth half a day. It's worth getting a buggy there as it's a fairly large site if you aren't good walking in the heat. It's about 45 minutes out of Bangkok by taxi. Siamroads.com have tour guides that are very knowledgeable and not expensive. Hiring one for a couple of days and having them create an itinerary from your preferences can let you see things you might not see otherwise. I hired a guide for 3 days on my first trip to Thailand and he saved me more money than he cost and organised transport and trips in such a way I saw fore in 3 days than I would have seen in 2 weeks if left to find my own way.
  11. What a complete clusterfuck. I wonder what the real truth is here as the story changes with each Iteration. For instance, people are told they will be chosen at random when really there is a fixed calculation at work. If they had simply chosen 4 people at random, rather than 2 couples by calculation, chances are their partners would have wanted to stay with them which would have meant their would have been scope for accommodating someone who has a job that would seriously affect others if delayed like the doctor. The problem for United is that the police and crew did here what police are doing all over America these days, heavy handed responses to situations they should have sensible policies to deal with. Unfortunately, the incompetent actions of crew and police are going to seriously affect United for months to come. They escalated something that could, and should, have been dealt with sensibly and calmly into a dangerous situation where they caused someone to be hurt. That he managed to get back on the aircraft afterwards shows just how incompetent the police and crew really were. Was the doctor blameless? No, a plane is not a place to throw a tantrum but airline crew and police are, supposedly, trained to diffuse such situations, not escalate them. I would certainly not fly United based on their obvious lack of training.
  12. You don't need to be convicted. Simply the suspicion and investigation are likely to wreck your life, never mind a conviction. You would be a complete idiot to risk that for a massage no matter how innocent you think it looks.
  13. You ask them what a cloud is as you don't understand this new fangled interweb stuff.
  14. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-39554421 Sod going to the US at the moment...
  15. Perhaps you should find new massage places and worry about the fun you are having rather than others.
  16. Out of all the massages I've had in Thailand I can count the number that didn't end in penetrative sex on one hand (no pun intended). A couple of those that didn't ended with far better endings.
  17. No, the walls are usually pretty thin which can make the whole process really funny.
  18. You obviously aren't going to the right massage places.
  19. Massage places have a vested interest in ensuring their masseurs are of an appropriate age. I visit many massage places and can't say I've seen many masseurs that would be that close to the age of consent. Then again, I tend to go for guys that look in their mid 20's which usually means they are 30+. I guess if your preference is for boys right on the age of consent then you should ID check them all as it isn't an area you want to get caught on the wrong side of.
  20. Why do you get so hostile when people respond to your threads? You ask inane questions with little detail and then get hostile when people respond with anything other than agreement. Put some detail in if you want a realistic answer. Just because he doesn't give a HE doesn't mean he isn't massaging your erogenous zones. There are more erogenous zones than your dick. Is he getting paid? What is legal between consenting people of the correct age may be illegal if money changes hands. What country are you talking about? It really isn't an area for experimentation in any country.
  21. Let's face it, worrying about seat belts while you have 3 and 4 people on a scooter wearing no helmets is pretty dumb.
