Very true, dangerous + ugly, but I don't love it.  I don't even bother walking outside any more.  I just take Uber anywhere.

I have grown rather fond of São Paulo. I feel much safer there than Rio. Tourists are sitting ducks in the Copacabana area of Rio but in São Paulo it’s a little easier to blend in. I take taxis everywhere in both cities.

The saunas could be full and you might not find someone your type....could be only a few guys and you have a great time and great sex, only takes 1 guy to change the night.

I like it when it's not crazy busy....

Keep in mind Sao Paulo is known to be one of the largest ugliest cities, but has some really good restaurant options.

The travel editor of the New York Times once described São Paulo as “ the ugliest and most dangerous city you’re ever likely to love.” Having been there 9 times I think I know what he means.

    Archer, I agree.

Clube555 has a large spacious bar area with high ceilings that is maybe five or six time larger than the cramped bar room at Lagoa. And it has much larger steam and sauna rooms than Lagoa. The client dressing area is also far superior to the tiny cave clients get at Lagoa.

But of course none of this matters since, at least so far, good GPs have been sadly absent from the terribly located "new Fragata."

You write “ terribly located.” What is the issue here? Is it far out or in a dangerous area?

Recent reviews are good.  Worst reviews appear to be from 2017/2018 and seem to concentrate on it either being a noisy location or you can hear people in other rooms talking, etc.  One negative review complained he/she booked the room via a third party booking agent and the individual is having money getting a refund.  When looking at Trip Advisor reviews I check on how many other reviews the individual has posted and if they are typically one-sided pro / con.

    Don’t forget the cockroaches.

Types of massage places by shamelessmack: https://shamelessmacktwo.travel.blog/massage-glossary/

In general, shamelessmack is a good starting point for massage and gogo bars in Thailand.

There are the members-only subforums where you can discuss specific service providers. Unfortunately, not much activity there (and I did my share, but no enough others contribute to keep it going).

This thread was started to discuss type 4 massage place, where sex was expected.

  6. Good question. There have been a number of reviews of massage venues in posts but to a have a “list” in the one thread would be very helpful. My all time favourite venue was the old Hero. Seasoned Bangkok visitors will know what I mean. If there anything approximating to the old Hero these days?

Even though we've battled a bit, nice review.

Don't regret not going to street cruising or some other places....you don't need to have the headaches/problems some of those places bring.

How very true! Despite what some people try to make out Brazil is very dangerous and foreigners are sitting ducks. My advice to anyone visiting Brazil is stick to the rentboy saunas which are fabulous and have a great and safe time.

I always stay at Le Meridien. Pricey but good, no problems with bringing back boys either, and 200 yards from Patpong.

I stayed there once. Overall a good experience. The one thing that disappointed was the pool. A little on the small size and lounges rather cramped. Last time I was in Bangkok I stayed at the Plaza Athenee. Location not ideal but excellent service, a magnificent breakfast spread and a huge lagoon sized swimming pool, one of the biggest if not the biggest in Bangkok. I’m staying there again in January.

I may be biased but if I ever say bad word about Tawan you can crucify me or even call me Putin's war supporter, choice is yours.

I used to love the Tawan too. How I remember the place in the early 2000’s. It had a huge smorgasbord of some of the most beautiful men in Thailand. On my last visit the place was tragic.
