Morocco has announced that it will reopen its borders on February 7th. However, requirements for foreign visitors have not yet been decided.

Thanks for the update! I know that the Turkish economy is in very poor shape but I am encouraged to hear that Aquarius is going strong. Also good to know that you stayed healthy during your trip.

That's great... What a civilized country!

Another complication, in the US at any rate, is the beneficiaries of retirement accounts like IRA's. These accounts will usually have you name a beneficiary & a contingent beneficiary. Ideally, the beneficiaries named on a particular account will be the same as what is stated in a person's will. If not, the beneficiary named on the account supersedes what is stated in the will. Another legal complication to worry about!

The gay community in Singapore has it's own Blowing Wind forum, which is (sort of) similar:

Pre-covid, it seems like their members did a lot of traveling to other places in Asia (Taipei, KL, Bali, Bangkok, of course) so there was lots of information, which made interesting reading.

I like Ansel Elgort very much so I hope the accusations against him don't affect his career. To me, it sounded like a 'he said, she said' situation but thousands of Twitter users may disagree!

Yes, I have also found Northern Thai Arabica coffee to be very good. In Chiang Mai, I have bought coffee beans at the Akha Ama cafe near Wat Phra Singh. It's part of a chain but it's good. There also the Hillkoff store, Changphuak Soi 2, north of Changphuak Gate, & they have a big selection of coffee beans.
In Bangkok, there's Holey Bakery on Suan Phlu, not far from Sathorn Road. Good coffee with excellent bread & bakery items.

When I heard about the Spielberg-Kushner remake of West Side Story, I had a strong negative reaction to the whole idea. What was the point? The bad review which PeterRS cites, confirms my initial reaction. But, for what it's worth, the critical reception & audience reaction has been mostly positive, according to Rotten Tomatoes:

It may be that the movie is mainly intended for young people who would rather see something new & don't much care about the 'classic'.
No, I'm not going to rush out to a theatre to see it. (I might be if I was in Thailand!)

Have a great trip &, please, report back. Love to hear about a visit to a Cairo hammam.

Very glad to hear that the 2 Prime Massage places are hanging in there!

Yes, I agree that it's a big step in the right direction. My only question is how do they manage to administer the quickie covid tests if they start getting more tourists arriving at PNH. Could be a logistical nightmare.

I wish you luck & hope you can re-connect with the German guy.
It's great to casually meet somebody while traveling & really hit it off with them. And yes, it s**cks when it comes time to pay the bill & leave & know you will probably never meet that person again. I also find it almost impossible to bring up personal matters, like sexual preference, in situations like that. Could be that I'm a wimp.

Great post! How is Yucatan doing with covid? Any restrictions?

The Cambodian PM has announced a plan to open the country to travelers from Thailand. For fully vaccinated Thais & foreign tourists, that is:
Zero details on the when & how at this point but it's another bit of encouraging news.

A small step in the right direction.

I visited Phu Quoc in 2014 & I do recall visiting a waterfall that was a big local tourist attraction. However, it was in the winter & there was no rain so there was not much to see. Funny that they would 'borrow' a photo from a site in Laos!

Good point about the Chinese vaccines. I have been to Phnom Penh several times & find that I like it more & more. But, for 'our kind of attractions', what's available in PP is more like Chiang Mai. No comparison to Bangkok.

Yes, that will definitely make things complicated!

Is Punta Cana a viable option? Getting out of SD & hitting a beach sounds very appealing. I imagine that an adults-only, all inclusive resort would work for a gay couple or a guy with a companion but (IMO) it doesn't sound so appealing for a single guy. Also, bringing visitors into a resort might be a hassle.
