The gay community in Singapore has it's own Blowing Wind forum, which is (sort of) similar:

https://www.blowingwind.io/forum/index.php?s=aa2bf9e953c125cd819c561f7b78267b&act=idx

Pre-covid, it seems like their members did a lot of traveling to other places in Asia (Taipei, KL, Bali, Bangkok, of course) so there was lots of information, which made interesting reading.

The average age of the membership of this site seems far younger than most other Asian gay chat rooms. Many of the threads seem pretty boring, but as @tm_nyc points out there is a dedicated Travel forum that has a lot of advice that I assume will be much more useful once travel opens up again.

That is one way to force people to sign in. I like it!

Forcing people to sign in is controlling behavior. I have an automatic disdain for people who are controlling and/or use methods of control to get their way. It's not a personality disorder I admire. The fact is, many sites and businesses have turned to controlling behavior antics in the past 5-10 years, and I've left most of them.

I understand that businesses feel pressure to join the controlling chorus, and I always caution against it. When smart people realize the manipulation, it can seriously turn them off. Pissing off potential customers is no way to build a business.

I think it is a way to make money (if any from those ads) from browsers as opposed to regular members. Most sites allow you to stay logged in for extended periods of time which is pretty good to avoid all the ads.

Perhaps you want to contact Radiorob, the guy behind the changes. He is very resourceful and friendly, I am sure he will not mind sharing information.

The various tiers of ad-click revenue are complicated. Not sure there's much more than pennies without clicking all the way through. What gay, male fool clicks ads on a porn site these days? Hello Russia and China.

Lord knows, I'm all for making money. But there's a gentlemanly way to do it, and a crass way. I find the controlling methods extremely LAZY, and thus, very crass.

I can't remember the last time I logged in over there. Have no interest in a dead horse. But judging the way you are treated as an observer, they can take their non-stop ads and shove them up their asses. Not a creative, insightful soul in the bunch.
