  1. Hell no...the subject of Rob's remarks probably went to Oxford...Brookes...but he'll tell you he went to Oxon and write a grand 6-page story with stolen pictures to back it up! 🤣 You'll find farang guys like that propping up barstools all over Thailand and making up grand stories about themselves and their alleged achievements, not realising that the more they try to exalt themselves, the more common they sound. I mean one can just go to the next bar and listen to the same thing. How very common.
  2. It has? Oh my, you do collect them, don't you? A witty or smart person would have come back with a pithy, clever retort or ignored my throwaway comment altogether, not write a three-paragraph response to it. "Don't they have a life?" wasn't a put down but a genuine question. I mean it's quite sad if a man of a certain age only has the number of likes he's received on an anonymous forum to count as his accomplishments. It would appear that David in his humble abode in the video above has had a much richer and more rewarding life. Anyway, I know you enjoy/need the attention but it's late and my partner's calling me to go to bed. Good night.
  3. I don't read every post, especially not long-winded, copy-and-paste ones or repetitive trip reports offering no new insight - I skim and skip. I also don't pay attention to post likes and such and didn't think that people did. Don't they have a life? The fact that you needed to reply to my throwaway comment above...well...
  4. How's Pattaya, @Olddaddy? How's the weather? Have you been out and about?
  5. Now, now, @Enchanted_Elixir it isn't nice of you to talk about @PeterRS2 like that, just because he could expand one irrelevant point into six pages when one sentence could have done the job.
  6. Not everyone wants to stand in line in front of Otot-otot sauna before it opens begging with an empty sperm cup in hand. "Please, sir, I want some more." 🙄
  7. The title of the video is misleading; it makes it sound as if David is unhappy and is stuck in Thailand. I watched the entire interview and he sounds at the very least contented, if not joyous. He looks worn out for 71 but he is recovering from a nasty accident and was a smoker and heavy drinker for a long time. His house is clean and his caretaker appears to be doing a good job. He could be doing a lot worse like the alcos living in bedsits and shoeboxes in Bangkok and Chiang Mai who can't seem to drag themselves away from the bars and the commercial sex scene, not for the sex but for the socialisation! I think he intimated that's what happened to him early on during his stay in Thailand. I too find him forthright and quite sensible in managing his affairs - living in the here and now. The only thing I would quibble with is his generalisation that one can't have deep conversations with Thais; it may be true of the Thais in his social environment but it's certainly not true of all Thais. I've gained some of my deepest insights about anything - not just things Thai - from my partner and our circle of friends. Secondly, while it may still be viable to use the concept of kreng jai to explain his experiences in rural Thailand, I wouldn't put too much emphasis on it in urban Thai life in 2026. I think he's also a much stronger person than he'd give himself credit for; I'm sure the loneliness he speaks of is real and yet he's resisted any temptation to go back to the bottle or start smoking again. I may have missed it if he had, but the interviewer could have asked David whether he'd like to share his contact details for people to get in touch with him for friendship. There may be another gay man (or even a straight man) within an hour's drive who's also looking for a friend and all he needs is one.
  8. I think you got your idioms mixed up: it's the early bird catches the worm, not the horny bird catches the sperm. 🙄
  9. You offered your arse to everyone? No wonder they were raided and closed down.
  10. A tonne of sheep's wool.
  11. Perhaps dried flowers command a premium? 🤷
  12. My parents would swear it was the Who Shot JR story arch on Dallas. They were and still are devoted fans and absolutely loved the DVD box set I got them for their 50th anniversary.
  13. Because the card holders were either dead or dying? 🤔
  14. I hope this doesn't happen on a flight somewhere.
  15. You got it wrong. The insurance is to cover other people's blood pressure rising from interacting with Olddaddy.
  16. A priest would have opened a bar in Sunee Plaza, not Soi Twilight. 😏
  17. In mid air?
  18. You should be leaving for Thailand soon and I wanted to wish you a safe and happy trip. Bring your raincoat with you and wear sensible shoes. (August is still okay; September is the wettest month of the year.)
  19. Yup. That's what my friends who stayed there last February discovered too. It was cheaper booking through Agoda. Perhaps Londoner gets a special rate as a regular guest. My friends were happy with the hotel though, thanks to Londoner's recommendation.
  20. They are a dance troupe, possibly the only fem twink dance troupe working in the nightlife industry and their style and presentation is quite unique. I wouldn't assume that everyone working in that environment is a sex worker. Some of them are in relationships with their contemporaries as are many others within the complex and this is perfectly normal.
  21. Interesting read. https://www.newsweek.com/dementia-can-strike-before-65one-group-may-be-more-affected-than-thought-12253344
  22. That image is sure to bring in customers to his new restaurant in Pratamnak by the busload.
  23. Was he petting his famous pussy as he gazed into your eyes?
  24. Why? Does Eric have four hands?
