Photos taken at 9am today on my way back from Foodland after 84 baht breakfast special.

The same signs that were there two months ago so nothing new.

The first sign is about recruiting new staff. I don't read Chinese but I think the second is self-explanatory 😈

I was at Freshboys last night and I saw Atlas was closed when I walked past.

I don't know if it's closed on Mondays or permanently closed.

Nope, nothing to indicate why they are closed. The first poster is to recruit staff, which they needed urgently and in large numbers. I'm guessing it was put up sometime ago. I thought there might've been a governmental notice indicating a breach of regulations or something along those lines but there was nothing of that sort.

I suppose the easiest way to find out is to text a guy who works there, a guy who knows someone who works there, a Tawan guy or guys who work in the vicinity of Atlas. They're bound to know.

As a favour to vinapu - who am I to deny a man's dying wish - I've sent a text message in Thai to their Line account. Let's see if they reply. 🤞

Nope. Closed today Tuesday night. Maybe they decided to have off days on certain weeknights

Hope certain weeknights don't mean Monday to Sunday, sigh

Sorry, vinapu, it's almost been 24 hours and none of the messages I sent them on various social media have been read or replied to.

So, having just spoken to one of the captains at Atlas, he tells me that the bar has permanently closed at the Patpong 2 location but will reopen on Soi 6 "in two weeks". They are currently fitting-out the new premises which will be towards the Silom Soi 6 end where all the massage parlours are located, rather than on the Soi Tarntawan end.

....... I would not hold my breath for the new venue to open on schedule. Indeed, let's see if it actually come to pass.

thank you for the good news , hope they materialize , even with delay . Wonder which location in soi 6 it will be but it should be clear soon.

In the meantime, many of the boys who worked at Atlas are to be found at the new Than Tawan bar (formerly Tawan). Apparently, there are now about thirty guys at Than Tawan.

The main reason for the move was the very high rent at the old location. The new place will still be "owned" by Arthur (although Atlas has always, in fact, been funded by his foreign patron). Given that it is Thailand, though, I would not hold my breath for the new venue to open on schedule. Indeed, let's see if it actually come to pass.

As an aside, I note that the flyer for Atlas posted on its door steals images from the now defunct New Twilight Bar that was a few doors down from the Golden Cock.

All helpful and interesting information. Who wins the prize for spotting which premises on Soi 6 are/will be undergoing conversion.....?

As DoA suggests, "undergoing refurbishment" or "opening in new premises" can often be a face saving communication.

my spy on the ground confirmed that indeed there's some renovation going one in one of the shops at Silom end of soi 6 so thigs are looking bit brighter for Atlas now.

Was sad to see yesterday evening all atlas branding was already taken down from te building. Hope they have a good future in Soi 6. Information about many guys now moved to Tawan to work makes me feel maybe have to try out Tawan one more time...

I was at the Atlas bar two months ago and found it quite disappointing. There were only 4 boys/men and none were good-looking. Was that typical, or was that an off night? I went over to Fresh Boys and it was quite crowded, so I don't think it was too early or late for the bars.

I hope this is suitable to post here, as I didn’t want to start a new post.

Made my annual pilgrimage to Dreamboys, first time sitting through their full show in this current location. I rarely go more than once a year for various reasons, although I did poke my head in to apprise the wares earlier this year.

I met a friend and his boy earlier in the evening and we all agreed we wanted to see a show but couldn’t agree where. Friend felt his boy wouldn’t be comfortable at Jupiter “too snooty” and we all felt disinterest in Moonlight so Dreamboys it was.

No door fee but they charge you 500 baht for every drink what a rip off.

On a Friday night, bar was respectably full with the usual mix of punters and tourists.

It was refreshing to be reminded that (unlike Jupiter and Moonlight) Dreamboys show doesn’t take itself too seriously. There was one glitzy and rather spectacular Thai traditional dress number featuring the only good looking ladyboy in the whole of Patpong, along with some proper, professionally trained dancers so that was a pleasure to watch. The lead boy dancer, an attractive twink,  received a big tip from a regular and he did not show up with a number tag later on so my guess is that he was really hired just to perform. They also stole the “I’m so sexy” number from Jupiter but instead of being performed by straight boy and ladyboy, here it was performed by two boys and an actual blow job. The other notable number was a stout “ladyboy” (or a male pretending to be one) in nightmare inducing clown make up, who pulled yards of ribbon out of his arsehole in full view , stringing it around the stripper pole and waving it at the more squeamish tourists.

Boy line up at Dreamboys is always a mixed bag, ranging from young and fresh to fifties and greying (honestly this particular boy seems to have aged out of the market but I guess he was still here because there were takers). I spotted a familiar face of an ex Moonlight twunk and wondered aloud why he did not continue to work in Moonlight, or at least Jupiter, as he was one of the most attractive boys there. My friend’s boy, overhearing, explained that some boys do try to work in the classier bars but if they go a couple of weeks with no business, they move on. Other less attractive boys have already been rejected especially by the notoriously high standards Jupiter. Or some boys misbehaved while at Jupiter and were thrown out. There was one case of a boy who videod his encounter with a customer.

I spotted two gym fit twunks who were my taste. One had a perplexing tattoo on his left bicep which could either have been a landscape or the head of an eagle, while I do not remember his number there is no missing him as he has “Shan State” inked in large letters down his forearm just in case he might be mistaken for Thai, or heaven forbid, Lao. The other is number 20 with an obliging manner and a septum piercing.

The next few numbers were the obligatory wooden footed boys with waving cocks aplenty, and a “special show” where boys who were willing were paraded around the audience with cocks out for a grope.

Offs seemed to be occurring at a brisk pace despite the varying quality of boys, with every rotation a number of boys disappeared unlike Jupiter where even the studs can be on stage until the bitter end. Shan State was snapped up so I consoled myself with #20. Friend’s boy and later #20 explained that rates at Dreamboys were also cheaper, starting at 1,500 or even 1,000 for “drinking”.

Side note: the regular customer I mentioned earlier was a female in a very strange outfit and a big black hat, as though she was a rejected auditionee from Wicked. Could have been Thai, but based on her other female companion, Japanese seems likely. She made a point of tipping every ladyboy and performer, and a few boys, all of whom made a big fuss of greeting her.

Final extravaganza featured two ladyboys prancing amidst billowing cloths and four boys in the most outlandish headgear, mini fans strapped to their foreheads featuring light projections of hunks and “Dreamboys” as well as “Songkran 2025” so must have been sponsored props too extravagant to be discarded. Has to be seen to be believed.

We left, my friend with his boy, and me with number 20, for a final beer at a small local bar near Super A (not recommended) before calling it a night.

not that I dispute your findings but in reality  there are as many definitions of 'good looking " as posters here.

The same goes with 'tasty dishes" or ' nice shirts"

that's funny considering exchange we just had on "Hotei" thread.

I consider Voco hotel rates rip -off at 4000-4500 and  admission to boy bar with show and bottle of beer included  at 500 to be veeeery good value

I take your point, but my issue is with pricing structure of Dreamboys. 500 baht entry and first drink, sure. But 500 for every subsequent drink even if a simple beer or Coca Cola feels overpriced and illogical for a bar that hopes to be profitable as punters will limit themselves to a single drink, and perhaps one for boy.

I seem to recall the usual pricing for bars was 500 (or whatever) for admittance to bar, show and access to boys galore, plus first drink. Subsequent drink for punter at a cheaper price (150 or 200?) and a slightly more elevated boy drink price / mamasan who manages to squeeze a drink from you . Or am I getting old?
