From the Thai Enquirer Thailand will reopen its borders by October, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha said in a nationally televised address on Wednesday. Prayut said that it was a “calculated risk” that the government must take to protect livelihoods and the economy. Thailand is in the middle of the third wave of Covid-19 with daily infection rates hovering 2,000 cases and 30 deaths per day. Over 1,400 people have died since April 1. From the Thai Enquirer Thailand will launch a quarantine-free travel program for its ten top provinces for tourism starting in October, Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, the tourism and sports minister, said on Wednesday. I was at a local mall today and could not find anywhere to eat and tried this place. They had a dinner special and I had soup, salad, meat dish, and pasta dish for 499 baht. I tried it and each part was very good and extremely tasty. It was way to much to eat so I have tons of take away dishes. The most recent report of infections and cases in Thailand is not good but there may be an encouraging trend emerging: the number of new daily cases appears to have steadied in the vicinity of 2,000. Although the number of new deaths reported today was high (34), that was to be expected. New deaths typically lag the number of infections by a few weeks. If the number of new daily cases does not accelerate and slowly begins to edge lower, experience elsewhere suggests new deaths will also begin a gradual decline.
