"In July, Phuket will be the first province to waive the quarantine requirement for foreign visitors who have been vaccinated, as part of the government's plan to reopen the country." Phuket to rekindle tourism (bangkokpost.com) -So if a visitor enters Phuket after 1st July whats to stop them travelling to Bangkok or Pattaya etc?

I got an email from Bumrungrad Hospital yesterday. It states this - "According to the announcement of approval COVID-19 vaccines from The Food and Drug Administration of Thailand and and they will soon be available to the public. We would like your thoughts regarding the COVID-19 vaccine." For some reason the survey only applies to those aged between 18 - 65. It asks three questions I'd like to get the vaccine as soon as possible I'd like to get the vaccine, but not immediately I do not plan to get vaccinated for COVID-19 It points out that this is not a request for reservation. But the fact that it is seeking information at th…

The new Jupiter has arrived. Number 84, Chit informed me it had been open 2 nights, last night being the second night?. I was sat opposite with number 84's friend at Balcony and snapped a photo! It certainly looks very upmarket and they were really pulling in the Soi 4 crowd last night. It was packed. Drinks are 250 baht. Many boys were being offed. Looks like a great start for them! They said the drink price is not a promotion, and it will stay 250 baht. Not sure that's true but we will see.

I saw this ad on Facebook for Paleo Robbie and decided to try them. I was not expecting very much but I was extremely surprised as the food tastes fantastic and the portions are huge. I have to break each box I get into half for 2 meals. The cost for one meal is about 400 baht. I split that box to make 2 meals at 200 baht each. I have some photos attached but they don't do the food justice. You order each week what you want and they deliver to your door the following week. They are reliable so far and I have loved each meal. I over ordered some some friends are having some free food this week as well. They use no artificial ingredients and the beef is fr…

  6. The cut in quarantine from 14 days to 7 is a great sign of things to come. Reading this, it seems the committee has approved this but I don't see where this is official yet. Has this been set into place? https://www.nationthailand.com/news/30403453?fbclid=IwAR0vU7swkEacRdPZP652KtSj9MO4eXG4vo9S2-adlKT5QNGfldPyBhp6a1s

I visited soi 4 last night and what a pleasant surprise. Busy just like the old days. Every bar (except Welcome Bar) was open and busy. Jupiter open again. Banana open again Hugs open again. Strangers Bar open again. Balcony Pub had Aomam the lady singer. Pride had a singer guitarist. Stranger was packed into the soi like the old weekend nights. Balcony and Telephone terraces were full to capacity as was Connection. Let's hope that was a sign of things to come. The only downside was the thousands of tiny moths gathered around any bright lights. I'm told that this is a regular annual occurrence and usually is only one night -- then disap…

For years, I have simply set my bookmark to go to the "Unread Content" section. I now want to exclude certain content, essentially so I read the Asia and Europe sections. As far as I can tell, choosing to FOLLOW only the forums I want to read and then editing the bookmark to go directly to the content I follow should work and seems to work. Is this correct ? Are there any other ways of doing it with one click ?

  10. Gay Bangkok is slowly coming back to life. And, by slowly, I mean really slowly. Jupiter Boy and I took a night out tonight and things were pretty quiet on both Papong and Silom 4. A few updates. Narawat Massage on Silom 4 is open and guys are outside working. Banana Room is open with a few guys there. Telephone and Balcony are both open with some customers. Hugs is open. Private Bar is open. Jupiter was open but few guys working. Lucky Boys is not open and rumor has it that it may not open anytime soon and may even get sold. Dream Boys was open with about 15 guys but not a lot of variety. Screwboys was closed. Fresh Boys was open and had 8 guys and 1 …

I am reading again travel stories here. This triggers the following question: Do you live there or you took the two week quarentaine option? If the last does your employer allow you to work these 2 weeks? Else it is quite a chunk out of your yearly leave days.

Here are some PM2.5 readings, taken with a Mi PM2.5 meter, which fits nicely into a pocket. I believe the units are microgrammes per cubic meter, but have temporarily misplaced the instructions. The first 9 results are in Bangkok and the bottom 5 are in Europe. In Bangkok, indoor readings tend to be lower than outdoors. Considering only PM2.5 exposure, I'd be better off sleeping directly behind my old diesel car with the engine running, than in the hotel in Bangkok. The hotel aircon claims to have a filter, since the display had a warning to change the filter. I doubt that would be necessary, as the block I was in only opened in January 2021. …

Last trip November 2019 When oh when can I go back? I have 5 weeks holiday a year. I can’t go for the two week quarantine option. That will take 4 of my 5 weeks if I want to have two weeks real holiday there. Then rest of the year only working working without a break. Won’t do that. I asked my job but they don’t allow working from there. I am surprised there is no mass uprising from all these Thai who directly (hotels for example) or indirectly (massage shops for example) work in the tourism industry. How do they get money now? Hoe do they pay their rent?

I think the question should be clear. This is a private poll, so no one can see how you vote. Please do not assume the first vote is from me, as that would be too predictable.

Walking towards Silom Complex, a Thai guy taps me on the shoulder and says "Hello, nice to see you again". I say hello and carry on walking. I don't recognize him. He's to big and to old to have been one of my previous dates and I don't recognize him from any other businesses. Also, how did he recognize me under a facemask, sunglasses and sun hat ? Even people who do know me have difficulty with that. Later on, I see him in conversation with an older farang in The Silom Complex. Possibly a successful victim this time. I'm getting about one a month trying this trick. Of course I still have to look at every single one, as just occasionally I bump into …

Multiple areas have started to open back up and started to open up to other provinces. Samut Sakhon is the major area where things remain totally closed. There are higher numbers of Covid cases daily but most remain in that area (if you believe the testing publications).

Bangkok December 2020 Boy#1 Agreed to meet one of my old favourites via Grindr. He's from a neighbouring country and returned to Thailand 5 months ago. After crossing the border illegally, he took a domestic flight to Bangkok. Apparently they never check passport stamps. His plan is to wait until the border is open again, then return home illegally and then cross the border in the correct manner. Boy #2 I agreed to meet a slim 25 year old Khmer lad via Grindr. When it came to the money, I said is 1000 OK ? The reply was "Wow. Can I come now ?". He only had a photo of his passport, as he's apparently applying for a visa.. As he's clearly…

Tourists are currently not allowed in Thailand, and today THAI Airways says it will not restart international flights until at least August 1st. https://www.bangkokpost.com/learning/easy/1933704/thai-may-delay-flights-until-aug-1 But, when you do get back there, for the first time you will be able to walk across the Chao Praya River! A project that was abandoned in 1992 has come back and opens next month: https://www.bangkokpost.com/learning/easy/1933208/skypark-across-chao-phraya-river-to-open-this-month And, in Pattaya, the beach has been enlarged. Now Jomtien Beach will also be enlarged, but it will take a while. https://www.bangkokpost.c…

I was going to wander out tonight but my friend who works at Moonlight says they are still closed. Is that true of all the bars? Anyone been out to the area in past week or two? What is the status? I tried to find out of all bars can legally open. But, no luck.

This is a longish and sad tale. I have a horrible feeling it will end very badly. For 15 years or so I had two western neighbours in the double-sized apartment next to mine. They had retired and decided Bangkok would be a good option. Neither is a bar hopper. In fact, I don't believe they have ever been into a gogo bar. They also do not read any chat rooms. Why two guys needed a three bedroom apartment with a huge living room I never asked. Not my business. Occasionally wed meet in the corridor, chat and a few times dropped in on each other for a glass of wine. Five years ago they sold their apartment which had been on the market for probably around 3 years. I know t…

  23. Jupiter Boy and I decided to walk around gay Bangkok last night. We started on Silom 4. He has friends all over the area so I thought I'd let him guide the way. We ate at Balcony which was OK food. The restaurants in the area all had customers and people eating, drinking and laughing. We then went to Jupiter which has a guy singing songs. I didn't see how many boys where there as we had things to do and some friends he wanted to meet at Moonlight. We were walking down the Soi when a boy yelled my name and came running toward me. It was a boy who lived in Pattaya at one point and now working as a DJ at a local place. We had a quick chat and a hug and kiss before we h…

I am looking at a new rental lease and one clause states that only the tenant and their dependents can reside there. Anyone see issue with this with a Thai bf?

  25. Started by PeterRS,

A friend has told me there are two main changes. 1. If you already have the basic Elite visa valid for 5 years which had cost you 500,000 baht, you can now extend it to 20 years for the price of another 500,000 baht. This compares to the basic price for a new 20 years visa of around 2 million baht. 2. If you are thinking about a Thai Elite visa but do not have one, the price of the basic 5 year one has now been raised to 600,000 baht. Unlike other retirement visas obtained here, there are no other financial requirements - i.e. no need to keep cash unused in an account or to remit a monthly amount. This information is from someone who has just extended his …
