Did the author get this right? Have you felt this in a foreign city that seems to have charms your hometown does not? "I waited on a park bench under the shades of some trees in the nearby Blahtpark, just a harmless-looking tourist taking in the sights and sounds and smells, savoring the sense of loneliness and freedom that comes from solitary sojourns in strange lands, where all the everyday things seem subtly wondrous and different and new, where there's no one to please or disappoint or explain to, or where the traveler finds himself suspended between the beguilement of the comforts he left behind, and the allure of an imaginary future he senses but knows he can never…

Out of curiosity from anonnative English: What do you, native english or amerinlish speakers, think is the difference-if there is any, between these words? The main meaning is obviously the same. Words of course have more sensitive meanings, that may differ between countries. To me it seems B-lo is more american and maybe a little more affectionate? But correct me if this is wrong and how you think it should be looked at?

I hate Time Warner Cable. I need them for my internet, but neither the bf nor I watch much TV. For him, it's cooking shows and International House Hunters. For me, it's the Daily Show and baseball, in season of course. For that, I have to pay extra for 80 games a week. Not that I watch 80. Just the Yankees. But, we can get the shows we watch on hulu.com for free, and mlb.com will provide the baseball games, for a fee, of course. So, why do I need Time Warner Cable? We tried Direct TV a while back, but the doofusses sent out to hook it up literally had the wires strung along the living room floor to the TV. Cost me $300 to have it all taken out, and the satellite dish st…

The New York Times, never a favourite of the Republican Party, has an article on the reasons why some senior members of his party are seriously concerned about the momentum that New Gingrich is building amongst voters. They fear he cannot win a general election. Worse, he would drag down some other republicans with him.

This preview is for the book, not for the upcoming movie, but it gives you an idea of the story. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is a 2012 American supernatural film based on the 2010 mashup novel Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter. The film is directed by Timur Bekmambetov and is produced by Bekmambetov and Tim Burton. The novel's author, Seth Grahame-Smith, wrote the adapted screenplay. The real-life figure Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States (1861–1865), is fictionally portrayed in the novel and the film as having a secret identity as a vampire hunter. Benjamin Walker stars as Lincoln. Filming began in Louisiana in March 2011, and the film is being p…

In another thread a dude talked about getting turned off when a guy on a cam site had a Nazi T-shirt on. Now, for me that wouldn't turn me off or turn me on. If the guy was hot I'd just ignore it and whack off to him anyway. But, there are some things that totally squick me out and turn me off when I run into them in porn. For me it's any time pee becomes involved in stuff. But, I'm sure we all have our personal porn squicks that kill our boners. What's yours?

I was sad to learn yesterday of the death of the writer Christopher Hitchens of cancer of the oesophagus. Many loathed him, partly for his views on religion. An atheist, one of his many books is, “God is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything”. He once described Christianity, Judaism and Islam as the "real axis of evil", and said religion was "a cruel experiment whereby we are created sick and ordered to be well". His straight-talking also won him enemies. He famously wrote a book claiming Henry Kissinger is a war criminal, yet approved of Bush going to war in Iraq. But many others adored his blend of infuriatingly brilliant, perceptive, intelligent and provocative wo…

The mayor of the fourth-largest city in Mississippi has been forced to come out of the closet after the receipts from his expenses claim included a visit to a gay “lifestyle store and sex shop”. Greg Davis, mayor of Southaven, who was divorced from his wife last year, had been subject to a criminal investigation for allegedly misusing $170,000 when receipts revealed he spent $67 at a gay shop in Toronto, Canada. Davis, who has three daughters from his marriage and ran unsuccessfully for Congress in 2008 promoting “family values”, also spent thousands of dollars at local liquor shops. http://www.pinknews.co.uk/2011/12/16/mississippi-mayors-gay-shop-receipts-force-him-to…

But the on-going troubles of BB’s parent company Research in Motion make me wonder if BB’s will be still be around should I opt for one of them. It’s not just the delay to the new phone that is worrying. Net income for the latest quarter has plunged from US$911m to $265m, the three-day service outage two months ago not only lost them $40 million but resulted in a stack of lawsuits and the loss of a great deal of g…

OK so this was not last night ... but many years ago I had briefly worked in the music industry. Joan was in San Diego, my home town, to play a concert with her band the Blackhearts. So I made a call to get a few passes. A friend and I went down to see the show and hang out a while afterward. Later we made our way backstage and I spoke for a bit with Kenny Laguna her longtime manager. He invited us in to her dressing room ... where he introduced us to Joan. Standing next to her you immediately notice how tiny she is not to leave out quite frail as well. It was a bit of a shock ... but I must add she was very sweet and funny. My buddy and I had a great evening. On st…

For me I still cannot figure out the "vn" or "kn" in the above or maybe it is a typo or msspllng in the original article.
